The one thing i have to say is, I really think this show is good and necessary and you are doing a great job at calming everything down and doing a damage control so that after all the rage a proper and good discussion is possible. But i think too that its very disappointing that you are doing so much better than the guys from CCP themselfes.

Questions for the CSMs, have you seen any of Incrana beyound what we have? Will it be worth all this drama?

What are your thoughts on the wallpaper you get if you chose to disable Captains Quarters?

To me it kind of looks like CCP is saying "if you don't want to use the awesome stuff we've made for you here, then there's the door. Show yourselves out!!!"

When EVE was dreamt up and created and release, CCP were FEARLESS in their resolve to make an MMO unlike any other that existed - they did not blindly follow existing paradigms and forged their own bold path. They created a unique sandbox MMO where almost every item, and storyline, is player created.

Fast forward to today, and we see CCP being FEARLESS still. Except this time is against the existing EVE player base and the player base's desire for the game to remain a subscription sandbox MMO and are blindly following the game industry.

FEARLESS they remain, but against completely the wrong crowd of people.

Question to the CSM delegates:

Can the CSM influence CCP in any way to prevent "Incarnageddon"?

I would just like to ask a few questions:

1. Are things like ammo, ships, etc confirmed to be planned for the aurum store, and what do people thing the limitations on this kind of thing should be?

2. Does CCP have plans to address the community any time within the next 48 hours, with a dev blog which is actually worth reading?

Done. Thank you.

EDIT: It's 3am, so forgive me if the questions are not coherent :D

Given that CCP have broken the fundamental level of trust that existed between them and their customers, I'd like to know what steps CCP plan to take to rebuild this trust?

They're naive enough to believe they can get rid of the old burdensome players and replace them with materialistic under 13yos from DUST.

This is why losing players doesn't bother them, they actually don't believe it will matter. Amazing.

edit: Only issue is we found their plan way too soon and now they'll run out of money for WoD.

Posted previously, but bears repeating.

What is the CSM for if you are not going to communicate transparently with them? When you do, it seems only to be paying lip service, and not actually addressing what are supposed to be our concerns as players/customers. I've always thought of the CSM as a sham, but you sure like to beat your chest about it and how transparent you are to us via these so called representatives. Not sure how I'd feel right now if I were one of them, betrayed, or used like a tool perhaps.

It's very telling that your employees both past and present cite the same "cons" about working for you (via In summary, they almost all claim that there is a big disconnect between the management and the regular employees, and that communication and direction is often nonexistent. This sounds very familiar to many of us Cash Cows outside Iceland, and would imply you have a systemic problem.

The decision makers at CCP need to come out of their ivory towers now, and holster their spin-doctors. Culturally, it may not be very "Icelandic" to admit mistakes, so this might be hard for you to do. You can't blame all of this on "fear-of-change" or your customers' misunderstanding your intent because you have been a poor Shepard. No, you and only you have brought yourselves to this point.

Be assured, your response, and more importantly your ACTIONS moving forward are going to determine your core product's future, you know the one I mean: the internet spaceship game that lays golden eggs for you.

Tick, tock, CCP... Many fingers are hovering over the cancel button, waiting for you to come out and fix your mess....or not.

I could just about justify the integration of RMT into the game IF there was a guarantee that the money invested by the playerbase would be put back INTO the game in the form of decent development.

However, what are the chances if this occurring (wise investment of revenue) when we've not seen a huge level of content based expansion or vital re ballening of player-highlighted issues recently?

LaughingLaughing priceless.

*edit* this pretty much says it.

The lack of professionalism is mind blowing. Procedures that are common in other companies are not used here and considered a waste of time. There is no solid vision for EVE which leaves employees with no other option than to start work and find out what is wanted by trial and error, this is what CCP means with Agile development.

Fun game play is not a priority, promises made to investors and aesthetics are. ‘If it looks good then it is good’ is an often heard motto. CCP is committed to use technology in EVE as well as WoD and DUST, so certain features are made and used in EVE knowing they will not be fun, nor fit EVE and no one expects them to be appreciated by the playerbase. Alienating the playerbase of EVE further. Objections from employees who point this out are waved away.

CCP does not take criticism well and often ignores retrospectives. Criticism is considered to be a negative attitude and is severely frowned upon. A lot of effort goes into maintaining a good morale with a lot of internal PR. After all it’s cheaper to print posters than pay an average salary to employees.

Several years now CCP has predicated insane subscriber goals that cannot be met. Naturally this is met with scepticism by the employees but it falls on deaf ears. The result is that the company is suffering because we cannot sustain the development of EVE, DUST and WOD. EVE is not creating enough revenue which means that solutions are sought, solutions that CCP was vehemently against a few years ago.

Career progression is nonexistent unless you become friends with the right clique of people and use the right corporate buzzwords. Hard work is not something that will set you apart, most people work hard until they become so disillusioned as they realise it makes no difference and slack off.

Combine this with the below average pay (CCP pays 30% to 50% less than other companies) and you’ll often hear a lot of frustration when work is discussed outside of the office by people who have been here for some time. The longer you stay the less you start to care about the game you develope, because no one else does.

A more general question...

How should a games company react to player activism or rebellion?

Back down gracefully or hold fast? Either is weak, but what is better? With this in mind surely prevention is the best strategy. (Communication and Managing Expectations)

What is wrong with docking to be able to unload your ship and if u want to go to CQ press a button to go there...Ive said it before when you park you car on the drive or in the gargae u dont magically appear in your living.

Myself isn't bothered about the AUR thing, if peeps want to spend silly amounts of money on over priced pixals thats fine with me...what scares most, is the fact they are going to bring in PTW stuff into the the AUR system.

Another bug bear is the attitude of CCP to its customers...this is why alot of players and unsubbing or not resubbing like myself.

The last 2 patches have been a rough total of 1.2 gig d/l and what have we got? nothing of any importants to the game play.

I was all for this move to bring WiS, it was exciting to see CCP move in a fresh direction, but at the cost of game play and not squaring up all the other bugs they introduced enraged alot of the player base.

I hope this is all hype and they do not implement P2w structure in the game.

They will go down the road of other game companies and loose major $$ as ppl stop playing the game.

Even in FPS games, gamers are not willing to be lied to and keep paying for more of the companies games.

COD promised admins mod tools and dedicated servers, for the last release. It has not happened and COD Black Ops is not the cash cow they hoped it would be for the pc market.

I would hate to see CCP go down this disappointing road. This is why I started playing EVE.. I was tired of fps companies promising then going back on the deal.

I think this should be touched on a bit more.

While there is that specific "discussion" piece between Kristoffer and John Turbefield where it is likely two different extremes are being expressed, the piece below it, "Delivering the Goods" is not a "devil's advocate" piece -- it is a statement of intent.

Two parts of this article worry me. The first is the start of the 5th paragraph -- "One other service we're looking at is selling faction standings. We want to offer convenience for a price." This is not a case of glorified roleplay but a revelation that the selling of game-altering items/services via AURUM is already on the table.

The second part, "Incarna cannot be considered a product distinct from other parts of EVE. Incarna and "flying-in-space" (and in due course DUST 514) are merely aspects of the EVE Online experience; in virtual sales, as in development as a whole, we must adopt this way of thinking." is likewise worrying as it gives me the impression that the underlying message to CCP employees is to come to accept the fact that AUR items are to become an important part of all levels of Eve Online be it the WiS or FiS component. "...we will effect a universal strategy of micro-sales throughout the EVE experience". Such a statement can't really be made if their intention is for these items to be for vanity purposes only. What it sounds like is the start of transforming EVE into a F2P microtransaction-heavy system.
