After reading all the info floating around i sadly will bring my 8 years of EVE-Online ..to a close.

I never thought i would feel such contempt from CCP ... They must have employed some Cryptic Staff.

You, CCP, deserve to lose players and money.

With each large expansion do you increase the shader requirements without providing backward compatibility. You lose players and others have to spend money on new hardware, thereby giving it to ATI and Nvidia before they can give it to you. And now you want to get cash back in through vanity items (for 3D avatars).

You have got to be drunk.

Ok, with al this negative postings, i would like to post something positive about Micro Transactions.

I think the Micro Transactions is a really good thing, ofcourse i do not care about the new 3d engine or the clothing! I do feel badly for people with older computers who now can't run multiple clients!

But for the store, you don't have to buy clothing, i don't know why i would ever buy clothing in a spaceship game. But i guess we have a girl playerbase who like some sims elements in the game.

But to the point, I really hope one day we will be able buy skill points (or items that will convert into skill points) in the Micro Transaction store.

I know a lot of players object to it, saying i played 8 years and now have 150m skillpoints. -And do not want newer players to be able to get there fast.- But why not? If a new player spends as much money on the game in 1 month as you did in 8 years? It is the choice of the new player who is buying the skill points. It is his money which he spends on a hobby!

And if CCP makes more money they might even hire some people to fix-up new space ships like tech III frigs and battleships. (and fix posses and some other bugs that has been around for a few years)

And i don't think selling uber items like special ships or modules in the store is a good thing that will just screw up the market. The current crafting - market system is one of the best systems i have seen so far in mmo's.

Well this is solely my opinion, I hope I offended nobody. Lets all be friends again and shoot each other spaceship instead of spending so much time on the forums.

One point I have (of the many here that I agree with) is that Eve is different from many other MMORPG's in two important respects.

1. It's all about Internet Spaceships. That's what drew the players here, that's what they enjoy. And, to be honest, there isn't another game out there that touches Eve in this genre. What it's NOT about is being a Sci-Fi FPS. That's been done a thousand times and, so far for what CCP has offered, visually better and using fewer resources. It took you over a year to do that? Really?

We're here to fly ships in space. End of. It seems like you're resorting to this FPS format (with Dust 514 especially) as a cash-cow and, frankly, because you've run out of ideas. All this talk about clothes is just guff but it also goes contrary to what the game is about and why people play it, often owning (and now unsubscribing) multiple accounts. Emphasising the FPS element just turns it into HALO + Second Life with Spaceships on the side.

2. Most players in Eve have got what they've got by putting in the time, effort and brains necessary to get it. If you mine, getting your first Hulk is a massive sense of achievement because it's hard and expensive and takes time to do. That's why Hulk drivers hide when Hulkageddon comes around, they don't want to lose it.

If you lose something in Eve, it really means something to that player. That gets into the whole mentality of the game... Eve players play smart, and careful. You get killed in WoW, you just get up and start again. You get killed in Eve and that's six months work down the pan. The playing style (and players) are completely different.

If, however, I take out someone who just goes to the NEX and buys more and better ammo and ships (assuming, as most of us are by now, that that's the way the game will go) then what's the point? It'll be nothing more than WoW for people with credit cards. Very boring indeed. The feel of the community and game will be destroyed.

I know the argument about buying PLEX and then selling it for ISK... CCP can get around that by putting a ban on resale of PLEX for a period of time (a year, maybe) but that's not the point people are making here. It's about what Eve is, and what it'll become if people don't earn what they've got... just another failed MMORPG, Star Wars Galaxies style.

I think CCP have been told this for quite a while, now. They've chosen not to listen and now events have come to a head. Sad to see this happen to such a unique game and it's unique community.

I am rather surprised they haven't been removing topics like these. Before you flame me I do not agree with or like CCP due to the recent expansion. It does help that since the expansion I have heard all of one statement from them and it said basically that I was S.O.L.

Forgive me for asking - but CCP Zulu post the wrong message?

I saw nothing which addresses our concerns in that message.

Where was the bit about micro-transactions?

Where was the part which discussed the API development fees?

Where was the part which reassured me that the things broken in the latest release would be fixed?

Where was the part which realingned the fact that this was the smoothest release ever to the facts that some machines can't run it, overheat or even become ruined?

Where was the discussion on the sanctity of the sandbox?

Where were the considerations that non-combat roles within the game could be now ruined?

Where was the sincere apology for calling we customers 'cash cows'?

Finally,

Where was the consideration of the customers, the third party developers and the people who made this game successful, i.e. us?

There are some nice new features.

But the way €€P is going to tear the money out of their loyal player base now is disgusting.

I have to say this was the most disappointing and sicking dev blog ever. I really felt physically sick after reading this and I am still not sure whether this is still a bad dream or not. I was going to write a witty response to the jeans comparison. Instead I will just say this. EvE is / was a one of a kind game. A game that I loved. A game that has made a significant impact on my life through the people that I have met while playing. There was a time where I could not ever see myself quitting this game. How ever the second that Aurum can be used to buy non-vanity items I will un-sub both my accounts. For some bizarre reason I still have faith in CCP to stop this stupidity before it breaks the game forever.

I do realize there are other concerns you have and those will be addressed, but doing it all at the same time would make the messaging tricky and muddled and not allow for a focused discussion. I understand a lot of the frustration going around but if we want to discuss then we need to do so in a constructive and focused manner.

Thanks,
Arnar

Thank you for addressing these two points. I understand the explanation about Fearless and accept it. I think the actual price of the NeX items is irrelevant.

Now that we're done discussing these two points, can we please address the one about whether Micro Transactions will be used for anything beyond vanity items?

And please be constructive and focused about it.

Thank you very much.

After receiving this email 24 hours ago, I held it up and classified as a troll in k u g u t s u m e n . c o m foreplay, which is where a some of our intel gets validated. I refused to believe this email was real, but evidence, confirmation from several sources including agents with very close ties with CCP has confirmed it, I refused to believe it veracity.

After reading the CCP Zulu release, we broke down as we became aware of the similar direction between the CCP DevLog and this “leaked email”, we decided to calm down and post this after heavily consulting advisors, ex-game developers and well informed EVE online players.

The email to which we hold no authorship, editing, nor claim to be true based on the fact that we are still in denial/shock even a day after, we are assured to have the “Hilmar” writing style, no-one before other than the original source of our leak reffered to the newsletter as ‘fearless’ and the content of the email certainly goes inline with the poorly received DevBlog message CCP Zulu expressed.

We Do not claim the veracity of this email it came to us via a Drop Box (just as the newsletter), we didn’t published immediately out of the respect we feel for CCP games, yet the evidence has been mounting all day as we keep digging around and other clues has been pooping up or keep in mind that maybe we Eve News24 are being peons to the well planned machinations of persons willing to destroy CCP.

Well ok, well done Zulu you've done it, you've made me give up. All I and a lot of other people wanted to know was are you moving beyond non-vanity items? I don't care about clothing prices and I even quite like CQ, I just want to know are you going to change the game I love to P2W.

But you decided more confrontation was the way to keep my business.

It isn't.

So once again, well done. 2 accounts unsubbed and one more vocal player willing to voice his opinion walking away from your game.

Bravo, well played sir.

As long as ships, modules and items that give you the edge through money dint become involved i could't care less. You dont have to buy the clothes , infact mine has no shirt and a massive beer belly . I dont see CCP Kotec being a problem arising for us really. Soo glad to see incarna finally and shall play for years to come . Though i understand some concerns quitting over this is just plain daft ect im goin home and taking my ball with me :)

The problem with the "it don't concern me" attitude is that it's short-sighted. CCP has revealed itself as a company that very deliberately treats its customers with absolute contempt. They are now in effect running a racket, because they believe people have a lot to lose by quitting. In effect, they're right: playing an MMORPG is not simply a matter of immediate gratification but also one of investment, and this applies doubly for a long-term MMO such as EVE. It seems a little silly to continue to tie yourself to people who've shown that they are not acting in good faith, but perhaps you can quit at a moment's notice and not care about it a whole lot. If so, good for you.

First they came for the monocle aficionados ;)

Dear CCP Pann, CCP Manifest, I'd like to thank you for donning the asbestos suits and stepping in front of the flamethrower wielding masses gathered here.

However it seems that management at CCP has thrown you to the wolves so they can continue to ignore the issue at hand.
It isn't about the NEX, it isn't about CQ, it is about trust.

The leaks of the past few days (all nicely confirmed to be legitimate either through words or actions) have shown an absolute disconnect between those in CCP choosing the future direction for EVE and the playerbase. Even IF (and that's a big if) the Fearless issue was purely speculative, Pay2Win shouldn't even have been a potential discussion point, it is so anathema to what EVE stands for that to even speculate about it is to obliterate the trust your players have in you.

Add CCP Zulu's completely and utterly arrogant non-blog to this loss of trust and it only gets worse.
The primary concern wasn't even addressed, this was just a bunch of empty words telling the players to either accept it or leave. Those $1000 pants were just a cherry on top.
If the raging inferno on the forums is any indication, we got the message, we're leaving.

Next up is an e-mail allegedly sent by Hilmar himself showing an even greater disregard for those who already pay to play the game he once dreamed of making.

This all adds up to an upper management that can't even imagine what the players in EVE even play the game for, this complete disregard for our pleas and wishes makes it clear that abandoning ship may well be the best course of action.
At this rate EVE will go down in flames over the next few months, and they're taking everyone you hold dear down with them.

Trust needs to be earned over time, and it can be lost in a single instant.

That instant has passed, their words have done what years of half-baked patches could not, the trust of the players has been shattered, and if their response stays the same EVE as we know and love it will cease to exist.

Greed is good,...

who am i to speak right? afterall i'm just a Goose in your flock, am i not? It's a shame CCP, you have became so obsessed with Greed, that you have put your Goose with the golden eggs on the slaughterblock and killed it, just to see if you could pull out some more eggs in a higher rate.

Ironicly to say, World of Darkness suits CCP's style becouse you'r like a vampire bleeding EVE to death with yet an other way of taxing an already paying player base.

Here you go,.. you can have them back,... maby one day i might re-activate these alts,.. that is, the day i can see that the path you are taking with your Micro Transactions (or should i say Astronomical Transactions?) is not going to affect gameplay (wich it obviousely will becouse you are already planning on implementing Non-Vanity, game altering items in your store, completely undermining the economy of EVE). Well,.. It's time to say goodbye to my two alts...

And CCP's reaction?
An answer that's not complete and the excuse that we can't handle to much information at once. (though i have to say we are doing a fine job with that as we are pulling information out of places CCP would not even dare to think of. And what comes up is to confronting for them to have the guts to stand up to theere and than and tell us, "yes, it's true" That was the first Question, REmember CCP? and those three words took you nearly two days to put together. But than again,... The higher ups within CCP are now in a bar laughing their asses off while we still do not get any answers (and won't get untill monday).

I'm hugely disappointed by this development and the way CCP have responded to the community's valid concerns.

I have 4 accounts and have played Eve for several years now and this is the biggest error of judgement I can recall from CCP and the scale of the community reaction I think proves that observation.

I could live with MT's for vanity stuff BUT I firmly believe that any introduction of MT's that has a direct impact on the game such as 'special ammo' etc that is better than the regular stuff available atm is a disaster and will signal for many of us the death of a game that to date we have invested a great deal of time, money and commitment. Your player base is loyal and feels 'ownership' of Eve this is a good thing but sadly one you seem set on destroying. The ONLY question i need an answer to in this thread is:

ARE CCP GOING TO INTRODUCE MT'S BEYOND VANITY ITEMS INTO EVE.

Sorry guys (players that is), but you've all been spoilt by a very good game company and instead of having some degree of trust based on 8 years of excellent work by these guys you're all screaming because of an internal memo taken out of context.

Quit. Go play a Sony game where they invest nothing in it except life support and then shut it down. Go play Darkfall where you're lucky to see one half-arsed expac a year full of bugs and poorly thought out mechanisms. Go play SWG - oh no, you can't, they're shutting it down. Go play pretty much any other game with no depth.

You're like children screaming at their parents without realising what everyone else's parents are like. These guys are seriously cool compared to most Devs. They play their game, they talk in normal language, they have vision and commitment.

Damn, you know what? There is nothing worse about EVE than there was a week ago. In fact, I think many would argue that Incarna marks the very first step in making EVE an even better game.

Seriously, just get a grip. If you scream and rant about things which haven't even happened you'll die from a heart attack by the time you're my age.
