Seems to suggest the answer to the question:

"Will you *only* be selling vanity stuff in AUR"

.. is "Yes." ... Whats happened since then?

I have come to literally DREAD updates at this point. Please stop, just stop. If the update after Incarna and DUST (I just know DUST is going to take a whole expansion cycle) isn't going back and fixing balancing and unfinished stuff, I'm a f***ing done. Seriously. A backlog is not enough, A team of people hacking them isn't fast enough. You could seriously fix any number of things in this game and be hailed as heros, have your playerbase speak of you like they used to and literally sell your game for you. I cannot in good conscience recommend to anyone that they start playing eve. By the time they get into the groove it isn't going to be the game I've been playing for so long.

f***.

Anyone else notice that the peak number has decreased by nearly 8000 in 3 days. Usually Friday is a big day in eve and players stay on later. Today, the peak number was garbage.

I thought about posting a reasonable, well-worded, and overall understanding post in this thread, because I'm trying to understand why CCP would choose the path it's going down. I'm not even referring to MT here. MT was the catalyst that sparked the debate, anger, and now protesting.

It's that CCP, you have been dishonest. Your devblog, CCP Zulu, is DISHONEST. Allow me to 'splain. This is from the Fearless:

"Not all virtual purchases WILL focus on customization: some WILL simply be new items, ammunition, ships, etc. that can be purchased outright."

Emphasis mine. Note the use of the word "Will", not "might", not "possibly", and no use of "maybe" in that statement. This is a statement of fact. This is a statement of "This is the way it is going to be."

Now let's compare it to CCP Zulu's statement:

The opinions and views expressed in Fearless are just that; opinions and views.

This is dishonest. Does the statement from Fearless, which I posted above, read to you as an "opinion" or "view"? Throw in the fact that you did NOT give an answer to the single question that is on every protester's mind and fingertips:

WILL MT MOVE BEYOND VANITY ITEMS?

I'm now running on PLEX, and originally thought I'd stick around (I took a hiatus and got a new computer) since Incarna looked so cool. Following this and the subsequent DISHONESTY coming from CCP in the name of "Oh f*ck, they found out, let's just keep pretending that we didn't hear the question", I will not be resubbing. I've been in Eve for over 5 years, and never before have I been so disgusted.

You've taken something I loved, something that helped me escape from the world, something where I made friends, took part in epic fleet fails, spent countless hours grinding, etc, and you turned it into something with which to sodomize me. You're pulling a George Lucas. You get all excited about a new shiny thing with which to make more money, and you shove it up our asses without any lube, telling us "Oh no, it's not even an inch around!" when it's the size of a goddamned elephant's ****.

What the hell happened to you guys? Are you hard up for cash? Need more money to develop the Twilight MMO and Dust 514? You can tell us, we're your players. Many of us have been with you for years. You're just not being honest with us, and it's ****ing us off.

Regardless, I'm done. I'll continue to be angry and post bitterly until my PLEX runs out, but that's just the kind of bitter person I am.

Perhaps this has been posted before; I'm not going to read through a 44-page thread that's growing faster than I can read it.

I am now convinced that this whole situation is one of two things.

Either it is a brilliant form of performance art, at its heart a statement about modern-day consumerism run amok, or someone hates working at CCP so much that he is trying to destroy it from the inside.

I see, so you actually dont care what we think.

We all thought that this Micro transaction stuff would come in to expand the Game, paying a little extra for fun stuff nobody actually needs, and with this same impression most of us thought we would be able to produce some of this stuff later-on, since its all about in-game economy in Eve, well seems that time is over.

And this stupid expensive clothes thingy you keep talking about, are you sure you still know that you cant put on virtual goods in RL whatever they cost, or have you totally lost you connection to the real world?

That any virtual Good is more costly then a T2 fitted Battleship, just tells me that this Games isn't considered to be about Spaceships anymore.

CCP wants to make a Virtual Good store with a Spaceship Minigame in it, to get as much money out of "your" Spacebook community as you can.

Well i have already stoped playing, if this course isn't revoked im done with this Game.

I don't understand why some people are cancelling their subscriptions on something that might happen. As of right now there are no MT's beyond vanity when I look. CCP hasn't said there's going to be. Agreed, they haven't denied it, but lack of denial doesn't mean certainty. Seems to me like people (as usual) have overreacted.

If MT's that are more than just vanity actually show up in game, I'll be first in line to leave. But leaving over an un-verified assumption of a possibility seems silly.

Straight to my point:

1- Fearless

Internal discussion is important. What people is really p*ssed of about is that you talk about selling non-vanity stuff in NEX, and that's unacceptable. I'm not even saying that you planned or intend to do so. But you talked, you thought about it as a real possibility. And that will put fear in our hardcore hearts, because you will simply bypass the skill and dedication of a player if he\she has the money. And we did not spend years of game to get this now. We want a clear declaration and garantee that you will not do it EVER. If you can prove to us that the idea of non-vanity MT is completely off the table you will get approval back from ~50% of the players. The other half will be a bit more complicated, but solving this issue will help a lot already.

2- NEX prices.

You overstepped in the inicial prices. There's a say around that translated sounds like: "The first impression is the one that sticks." and should be self explanatory. Our first impression with the prices is not good, and that will stick for a long time and it's a mistake that will never go away, even with cheaper stuff from now on. Your inicial pricing policy burned in our brains and most of us are not happy. I understand that you did price for collectables. Mind you, I have a Eve lighter and don't even smoke! And I got it because I actuallt think the game is awesome and wanted something real that remembered me of it. But I have dozens of cheaper options. Besides you never sent me a e-mail telling "Look! We sell this awesome lighter and ...". Besides I'm talking about a physical item. That usually has a value for existing. Even without brand it has some value. Brands can add value, but can't be all the value of the item. That's what you are doing with those NEX itens. The brand is all the value and there's no value imbued to the item, because it does not exist IRL. Besides there's no competition. The market is only yours, so we have to swallow the price you say or do not get it? That's quite unfair too, mainly because you did not say to any players about those prices, and as far as I'm aware people inside CCP had no idea to. Informing people and making then discuss is not the whole point of having a internal newsletter? Big fail about that.

I hope my point is understandable and I, like all players, just want to be sure that Eve will still be the game we love after this. For now the future does not look bright.

Hmm while I am absolutely certain there's been reply after reply of not good enough I would like to add a few points...

First, Zulu is right about MT, I've even read stuff from Blizz about their toying with the idea of a cash shop in lieu of a subscription, so don't get your panties all in a wad, Blizzard has billions in assets, and even they are considering whether it is best in the longrun to switch to MT, even tho they decided against it, obviously. That memo does not mean CCP is going this route, it just means they have brave souls within the company willing to play the Devil's Advocate and argue for or against MT and many other things.

Second... the expansion really was smooth, sure maybe it's because there were not vast all encompassing changes made to the mechanics of the game (outside a station) but for the most part, it came and went with little to no real problems (besides the fried computers, but that has happened with each major graphics update CCP has ever done, I remember the outrage when they removed the Classic client, it was just as bad).

Third, give up the ghost already, you should have seen the outcry over delay upon delay for Ambulation in the past three years, CCP is wrong they said, CCP is evil, they're toying with us, leading us on, Ambulation will never come out, Ambulation is the Duke Nukem of EVE, and etc. and etc.

Now they finally release the framework for it, and it's a sea of clamor that there's not enough, well... get over it, CCP does not have, never did have, and never WILL have unlimited resources to make this game flawless, and they never needed that until the subscriber base began churning out new player after player with the Warcraft mentality, instant gratification, burn through content in weeks and clamor for more, never satisfied no matter the highs or lows of the development in the game, and the older players started moving on in ever increasing numbers.

EVE was never perfect, will never BE perfect, and never HAS been perfect, but at one time, it's players were, for all their good and bad, honorable or unscrupulous, greedy or generous, the subscriber base a few years ago was the most magnificent group of bastards you've ever seen in an MMO.

Now? Look at yourselves, a sorry lot of content junkies and nonsensical bumblers, what became of the greatest MMO community of the new century?

CCP makes mistakes, sure, a LOT of mistakes, but it was always that way, your predecessors only left because people like YOU began to grossly outnumber them, not because the game was lacking. Players decided to scrap ransoms, players decided to take FULL advantage of the failure of the Dominion mechanic, players decided to begin botting in droves to combat apathy amongst 0.0 dwellers that were dwindling interest and initiative. Players.

Fry me if you will, but I remember the time a few years back, when the old guard were all still here, players truly policing other players, and they would not have stood for your ****.

I may be just as unhappy with all the unfulfilled dreams and promises that CCP has made to us over the short three and a half years I myself have been around, but it was never a problem until the players made it a problem. We never needed perfection to make EVE perfect, sometimes the best thing in the world is the girl next door, sure she's not perfect, but she's been there for you all along.

Ok, with al this negative postings, i would like to post something positive about Micro Transactions.

I think the Micro Transactions is a really good thing, ofcourse i do not care about the new 3d engine or the clothing! I do feel badly for people with older computers who now can't run multiple clients!

But for the store, you don't have to buy clothing, i don't know why i would ever buy clothing in a spaceship game. But i guess we have a girl playerbase who like some sims elements in the game.

But to the point, I really hope one day we will be able buy skill points (or items that will convert into skill points) in the Micro Transaction store.

I know a lot of players object to it, saying i played 8 years and now have 150m skillpoints. -And do not want newer players to be able to get there fast.- But why not? If a new player spends as much money on the game in 1 month as you did in 8 years? It is the choice of the new player who is buying the skill points. It is his money which he spends on a hobby!

And if CCP makes more money they might even hire some people to fix-up new space ships like tech III frigs and battleships. (and fix posses and some other bugs that has been around for a few years)

Well this is solely my opinion, I hope I offended nobody. Lets all be friends again and shoot each other spaceship instead of spending so much time on the forums.

Wow, you totally had me goin' there for a bit. I didn't realize you were trolling until I saw the character name. Good job man. I've not been trolled so hard in years.

They won't, of course, because in 6 months when they introduce those new ships that were chosen as a part of the 'New Ships for Eve' contest they'll be NEX content only and be absolute Win Buttons, and if they say now 'no super elite stuff in NEX P2W store' it'll be quoted endlessly in another ragenaught like this one.

What I read, "Blah, blah, blah. You shouldn't be mean to people. Blah, blah, blah Half-assed justication of NEX prices, blah, blah, blah."

What I didn't see: "We will NEVER add non-vanity items to NEX."

Also, the smug attitude is insulting and not very conducive at persruading me to buyiing a PLEX next month.

I actually hope CCP's decisions on this will solve the problem of me unsubscribing, if they fall, i don't have to do anything, I just hope they let us know in advance before I wake up one morning to log in and the server/website is permanently offline. I hate to waste 3-6mo+ on a game that is shutting down, especially from their own greedy maneuvering!

Comparing RL cloths to something virtual that has no RL value (I cant sell my isk or anything form the game for RL money) has to be the most ignorant response I have ever seen from a game company. With RL jeans they don't simply disappear if I go bankrupt, such as virtual items if EVE shuts down.

When did CCP stop caring or lose the passion of the 'game' and start thinking of only $$$'s, It is a sad when this happens to companies, game companies especially.

3 accounts...makes me sad not to feel the love or see the passion!

oh and if EVE was like nearly all other MMO's with no real economy, MT wouldn't hurt the game at all, BUT one of the main things that makes EVE unique is the economy. IT will be destroyed by MT's, once the economy and what makes it up is destroyed, were does that leave EVE?

2007 or earlier Game time codes were introduced to fight real money trading. Since that Time I have been able to advantage over Joe who grinds isk by selling time codes. I have purchase several ships and items this way to keep the game fun for me. As long as CCP still has the plex equation in the mix, any player, with in game isk or real money dollars will be able to purchase any item.

Ie Buy Time code, Make Plex, sell plex, buy Booster off market. Bing! I have purchased an advantage.

Whether Aurum is for Vanity or game advantage really has no meaning as of the 2007.

Sadly I see this argument commencing 4 years to late.

I say let CCP do this Aurum Thing, as it seems more of an isk control sink than anything else.

As long as Plex is used as the convertable item no player can simply buy an advantage over another since 2007 or earlier.

I am going to be interested to see what these fashionable items will be going for as players buy these and then liquidate so they can buy more current fashionable items. Use Clothing stores are going to be the bomb!!

PS. I want to color my ship. I want to pimp my ride.

Pure and utter ****. I can't even begin to express how dissapointed I am in CCP as a company, as well as the people it employs. As others have said, I feel downright insulted. I finished reading this blog, then canceled my account immediately afterwards. I'll use the remaining subscription time (till July 4th) to try and encourage others within the game to quit. Once that runs out, I'll write scathing reviews of Eve Online on a variety of games websites.

Unless of course I see some real answers. Unfortunately, my hopes aren't too high. I really can't decide if I'm angry or sad right now. Probably prodigious amounts of both. Crying or Very sad
