This seems to be not the answers I was hoping for, but another point-missing response from CCP.

Here are the serious points again:

1. A senior CCP dev expressed personal opinions on the future direction of Eve that are anathema to Eve players and contrary to CCP promises. Saying these are merely personal opinions and not company policy is no comfort when the senior dev has major influence over Eve's development.

2. Incarna client delivers UI usability regression, resource hogging and few real benefits. CCP promise that CQ would be strictly optional and not affect existing gameplay is already violated.

Two broken promises. Eve's playability eroded. That's what I want to hear about. Please, less obfuscation and more HTFU.

Real life versus In-game comparison of clothes? lol.
Lets turn it around shall we? According to EvE lore, the inheritance given to every new player (5000 Isk) has more or less the same value as the annual income of the average worker.
So taking your example of the trousers, in EvE the price in the Noble store (3000 AUR) equates to the annual income of over 65.000 people.

To translate that to a real world analogy, given the national average income of the country I live in IRL, that would equate to luxury top-of-the-line designer trousers costing E 2.340.000.000,-. That's right, two-billion-three-hundred-million Euro's.
Or just about 0,2% of our GNP. So comparing your analogy to EvE lore, an entire western European country's GNP equals the price of 500 designer's a bit overpriced don't you think?

You see? RL vs IG comparisons to justify decisions for the direction of a game never ever work.

Beside that, the answers you ARE giving are not the answers to the questions WE are asking.
And some of the answers you are giving are incorrect and lore breaking. See above.

I am deeply disheartened by this devblog.

Sadly, as I posted in the other threadnaught, the CSM means nothing. I know you guys care as passionately about Eve as us hardcore players do, and that's why you do what you do. And no matter what our in-game standings to each other are, I personally appreciate everything you try to do for our beloved game.

However, the truth is, the CSM is a token showpiece to make it look like CCP really cares about the community. Nothing more. As you know, but CCP's own terms, they are not bound to talk to you, consult you, or have any interaction with you whatsoever if they choose not to.

So CCP, how about you "cut useless costs" if you need money, rather than trying to **** your current cusomer base for all you can to fund your other projects?

I couldnít re-quote the whole of your post Arnar but hopefully you can make sense of my comments which are supposed to follow each of your paragraphs. I have included your headings to help.

Dear concerned citizens of New Eden

ME: Yes, that pretty much covers the main concerns that have been voiced so far, apart from the issues some have had with their graphic cards and being expected to log on to a blank door and the need to make it crystal clear that you will not be backtracking on CQ. Unless you would considering a u-turn.

ME: OK. Thanks for confirming it is not a fake document and for explaining how it is used. This makes perfect sense to me at least.

ME: This is a fair statement. If the two paid employees were dealt a card to argue in the exaggerated way you mentioned above then it is very unfair for your customers to pick on them for it. I have read some of the comments for which people have been banned and sympathise as much with those on the receiving end as I would with someone in a shop serving an angry customer.

ME: So, whatís missing is a clarification of the position reached on MT for vanity versus for gain. Even if you havenít decided yet, this would be a great opportunity to promise to come back to the issue now that your customerís views have been shared.

Pricing structure

ME: Oh lordy, I wish that you hadnít used the jeans example. Iím guessing that most players didnít know you can get jeans for that much. You see, a section of your customers didnít realise that you run as a business and behave like every other business. They are shocked to find cool CCP are actually Corporate CCP in jeans and a tshirt. That is part of you growing up as a business.

ME: That is your choice and it sign posts the way forward for Incarna. On its own it is fine to say this but at this point in your explanation people will realise you arenít going to mention MT for gain. Then to compound their annoyance you are unable to resist a swipe at people over their passion for the current items. You didnít need to do that, it smacks of smugness.

ME: This reads like you have not listened because you havenít covered the MT for gain issue. And you suggest that these are issues that your customers are having, with no mention of what the uproar feels like from your side. An enraged customer might think from this that you are un-affected and donít care what they think, or about what they have been doing (protesting).

And finally Ö

ME: I love this game, have been playing it a long time and want a win-win for CCP and its customers here. I may be over-estimating the strength of peopleís opposition because only you know how many people are truly ending their accounts but I do think there is an opportunity right in front of you to set the sails of your business for the next 3 years if you can connect with your customers. Iíll add a further post after this one of what I think you should do next but feel free to contact me in game, or invite me into a chat room if that is the route you take.

Either way, Iíll shut up now, whilst wishing you luck. I will not be un-subscribing because I believe you have the people to turn this around Ö. Many of them, are yourí customers.Good luck.

Currently in EvE, you can be a noob, get fresh into the game, buy a load of Plex, use them to buy a char, use them to buy your char a mom and all the shiny stuff to fit it with.
Will sure beat those other noobs in ther Impairors, dont' you think?
If that is not power for $$$ already being a reality in EvE and has been forever, then I don't know what is...

So what's new here?

The issue as I see it:

Current System: Player A buys a PLEX, converts it to an in-game item and sells it to Player B for ISK. The player buying it can either convert it to 30 days of play time or sell it, again, for ISK.
No new items enter the game, no new ISK is created.

Feared System: Player A buys a PLEX, converts it to AUR and purchases faction ammo, +7 implant, or luxury yacht from the Noble Exchange.
New item enters the universe out of thin air, not very good for an economy that is 99.9999999% player driven.

Being the carebear that I am, this feared system would be my worst nightmare and kill everything I love about this game. As far as the pricing structure, my brother put it best when he said: "...Because people would like to customize their avatar without spending more than their subscription. Why they can't understand that is beyond me."

I just cancelled my 2 accounts and will re-sub only if I like where this game is headed.

I'm really just dumbfounded by this. All of the concerns and the worries were presented in a huge thread that pretty much just repeated the same basic thoughts over and over and over. So you take these, look them over, decide to not answer the important parts, being the direction of MT in eve and how we fear that the game we all love is going to be destroyed as we know it for some petty profit making scheme, and instead explain what the newsletter is, which we already knew, and go on to tell us that the prices of the merchandise was justified.

#1. I and many others don't care even the slightest bit about the prices, wasn't going to buy anything from the beginning even if it were 1 aurum or something per. The prices were insulting to our intelligence and gave us all the impression that the whole point of this was not to create something wonderful and great that looked good and improved the player experience, but instead could be milked by CCP because they think that they can.

#2. The main issue with the newsletter is and always has been the way that we as customers were portrayed and talked about as if our only purpose is to give you increasing amounts of money, for what amounts to little to no work on the actual game. All that time that was spent trying to figure out how to fleece us and squeeze every last coin from us could have been spent on improving the various bugs, poor UI implementation and balance of this game. Fixing these things alone would have kept everyone happy, brought back the "bittervet" population and brought in more customers through word of mouth from your current players as the model has always been. Instead, you seem to have decided that it was much quicker and cheaper to just put crap non-content out, and charge us extra for it. This was the biggest and most important issue of all.

Every other complaint I could come up with,(poor optimization of CQ, implants disappearing, modules/skills randomly not working, CQ being completely and utterly useless from a gameplay standpoint, even #1 above) all of it could have been happily looked over by the players if it weren't for the existence of point #2 above. You have literally taken the most fun online game that I have ever played, and in one fell swoop, turned it completely upside down on itself. I could literally keep typing for another 10 pages, but there would be no point as to this point, all the dev blogs and responses that we as players have gotten show that CCP believes they are doing the right thing and will not change their stance. I hope for your sake you can turn it around, but with the ideals that you now embrace, I doubt you will, can or even want to.

Assuming someone from CCP bothers reading this (haha) ill try to formulate some of the real questions.

* Will there be non-vanity items for sale EVER?

You see a similar system is already in place with PLEX: you can buy plex, sell em and buy other stuff through the player driven market. The only reason you would need an additional currency for non-vanity items would be to bypass that market - thereby completely ruining the 'sandbox'. If you want to keep the NeX store, you'll at the very least need to release a clear statement about what you envision it to be and, perhaps even more importantly, what you envision it not to be.
I watched the tournament closely enough to know that the poor guy tasked to present the IW scorpion there repeated over a dozen times that it was a purely cosmetical thing, so yes i do believe you know how sensitive all this is. The dev blog does not answer this question in the least though, and it should.

* What do you intend to do about the clumsiness of the Captains Quarters?

I know this sounds as if i'm ripping on your hard work, but i'm not. The CQ looks pretty damn good, i'll agree with CCP Zulu there, and yes this expansion is 'smooth' in that the servers weren't down for a week, so props to you for that.
BUT. Every time i enter a station now, the loading time is longer than before. When i have to switch ships/load/ammo/do anything at all really, it takes me longer because the interface in the CQ is aimed at being aesthetically pleasing and at not being convenient. Having your ship in a rather dull looking hangar may not be very 21st century, but it worked very smoothly.
In other words: it's important to realise that while you may see this as a step forward and a smooth transition, i can assure you that many players see it differently and have turned off the CQ because it is not smooth at all when it comes to quickly changing ships/fittings/etc.
Now i don't pretend to know which other futures you're going to add to it and they may very well fix the clumsiness of it. But until those are in place, i would expect the older (and at this point, still better) interface to remain an option. I'm all for expanding on the EVE universe, but if you let it compromise what is already in place, you may very well end up with two products that are each less appealing then the one product you have now. And i cannot imagine that to be your intention.

These are, or so it seems to me, the questions the recent threadnaughts are about. I'm not going to flame you, I'm not going to call you names, i'm just asking nicely and politely for an answer.

One last thing though: Please unban Helicity Boson. I know that she said some things she shouldnt have, and a temp ban would be perfectly acceptable, but i really do feel the need to express my concern over the permanent removal of very valuable community members over isolated incidents. This includes (but is not limited to) SarMaul, Liang and Helicity. It's important to realise that when you completely remove these people, you don't just lose a subscription, but lose a very good source of (depending on the case) valuable criticism, theorycrafting and/or community events, and when you permanently remove them, it takes away a small slice of the games' variety.
When you just outrightly permaban people who have put tons of their time into making this game more fun (SarMaul inspired the Khanid Mk2 afaik, Helicity organised hulkageddon, the list goes on...) over what are in the end isolated incidents, you dont look "harsh but fair" - you look petty and heartless. Hence my proposal would be to tone your policy towards the insulting of GM's etc down a notch - make the bans last weeks to a couple months for this sort of forum offenses, but stop screwing over both yourself and your playerbase by removing those who step up - and sometimes cross the line. Simply put them in their place when needed.

First off...

Thank you for having some balls and not giving into the whiners like every other MMO!

Second so what if you can buy ships and ammo with real money?! If you tried to "cheat" by buying ships you can't yet effectively use, you'll just be an easy target for people that know how to play. You can do that anyway right now. Someone please go buy and plex and sell it to get that battleship you can barely fly.

The only caveat to this is an item could be reprocessed to gain raw minerals.
SOLUTION: Make items bought through the exchange not be able to be reprocessed.

And if they release a ship that is better than any other normally bought ship just buy some plex with isk and get it. Your not forced to spend real money for anything on the exchange.

Another caveat, this could potentially hurt ship builders since there could be less demand for the normally built ships.
SOLUTION: Only sell blueprints for ships, ammo, or anything not vanity. This also introduces these items to be bought for normal isk.

Main Point: No one is being forced to spend any real money on these items and people doing so is no different than trading plex for isk to buy current items. Also, with a few rules in place the "normal" economy shouldn't be affected.

Leavers hurry up and leave.

Will the MT store sell non vanity items or not?

Since all your recent communications failed on purpose to avoid the subject I assume they will. Subs are canceled and will not be renewed if that's the case.

Have fun with your MT spaceships game.

Alert, Alert!

Almost correct use of "elephant in the room"-metaphor! Avoiding the issue is key to the usage. Well, except everyone is talking about it ITT, so I wouldnt say that it's technically entirely correct, but B+ for practical use and for not involving the entirely different and distinct gorilla metaphor. Kudos.

Let me illustrate.

If CCP holds a meeting tomorrow, and everyone is just sitting around looking at eachother and shuffling their feet, not daring to mentioning the huge storm on the forums. That would be not mentioning the elephant in the room.

I recently came back to eve from 2 other mmos. I was genuinely excited for incarna. After seeing that memo and experiencing the patch I'm left with the feeling that the money in my pockets is going to be the sole design and development target. At this point I'm feeling pretty empty. A 48 hour response that amounts to something I could write in 10 minutes iss offensive. I don't know where you live zulu but I can't afford to pay 1000 bucks for jeans to impress friends. You may be one of the only clueless jackass at ccp but that's still what you are. Your post boils down to this, we are gonna use real money for in game items with major effects, and the rest of you should bugger off cause you hurt our feelings. You need to go back to school maybe take a psych class along with a management class or two cause you dug that hole a lot deeper. I find nothing attractive about this patch, though cq is pretty that's all it is. While I look forward to roaming a station at this point I'm not sure I'll be around long enough to see it. I'm letting my alt account expire, and as for my main here I probably won't be back for a bite at the apple ever again.

MT for items already existing in-game. perish the thought, we could never allow that in our game. Oh wait. Its been around since I started playing. At first with ebay, and black market isk deals, now at least through a certified source with the PLEX. You buy a PLEX with real life currency, then sell it for isk, and congrats, you now have isk to use for in-game items. all AUR really does is adds another step to it. You use AUR for a set of +5's, or ISK from a plex for +5's, you still payed RL money for in-game objects.

The important difference is that you used to sell your PLEX for ISK another player had generated, then use that ISK to buy items that another player had made in game (in most cases). This was keeping the economy churning. With the Aurum-for-items pipeline, you are just injecting items into the economy with no in-game source. Whether this will crash the economy or not, I don't know, but it's a total departure from the Eve ethos up until this point.

Seriously though.

Even if we take your absurd argument that the newsletter was just a pro and con piece... It begs the question: Why do the pros and cons matter when you are ALREADY GETTING PAID THROUGH SUBS.

Why are you implementing a Pay to Win model on top of a Pay to Play subscription model. You are already getting paid for EVE once. If you want to get paid twice, you have to actually explain why.

If you can't explain why you need to be paid twice, then your newsletter either reads like naked lazy 'I want money for nothing' greed, or absolute pointless discussion of something that has nothing to do with anything. Is the next issue of fearless going to discuss how many angels can fit on the head of a pin? Or is it going to be an issue where you complain that random people don't send CCP money for nothing and how unfair that is since you really like money but don't like doing anything to EARN it.

Putting aside game mechanics, it will very bad bussines.
I suggest CCP to read this..
It is an analysis of why Star Trek MMO failed.
BAsically, 2 reasons.. microtransactions on top of subscription and unfinished content, like this stupid Incarna.
Even if you don't care about youre players, you might want to get a bussines consultant on this.
I am not renewing my subscription until a writen commintment is issued (can be added to the EULA) that CCP is not adding microtransactions to the games mechanics and economy.

CCP needs to get the ban stick out, grow back the balls they lost after the t20 incident and put a stop to this nonsense where the players think they can disrupt services, mass spam forums with colors and over sized lettering and generally being self entitled douche bags.

Yes it would cost some subs but at the end of it perhaps the players would be at a bare minimum respectful and put forward there concerns in a constructive manner.

As for the blog, thank you Zulu for confirming that i read the pdf in a some what correct context. Couldn't care less for the vanity stuff as there is no need to buy it.

What is missing is how you plan to proceed with the store, my concern and what is a deal breaker for me personally is if you add things that bypasses time to build in game, full items without hand-in of t1 base item hence "spawning" minerals and similar, things that disrupts the normal flow of the market basically.

@CCp Zulu

-About the leaked doc, I was neither surprised or offended by it, throwing opinions/ideas around like that is common for companies.
Still, it didn't say anything I didn't already suspect.
Just sucks when memo's like that get leaked, eh? Very Happy How did you manage that one anyways? :P

-About NeX, those prices are way over the top, and don't try with real world comparisons for items that have no functionality
other than visuals(which only the player can see atm).
Slash the prices with 90%, it's a lot easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar.

-You said you could only address two issues, I think you picked the two wrong ones.
the issues should have been addressed are:

-AUR for items that enhance game play
-Optional Captain's quarters

Addressing those with haste will put out a lot of fires.
Personally, I love CQ etc and have no issues with it, but I do understand others do not like it or
can't run it due to sub-par computer. So it should be optional.
That is all.

As for NOBLE

#1 Noone forces you to buy.

#2 Yes the prices are high now.

#3 If you grow tired of a vanity item, you can unlike most other games sell them directly on the open eve market. Hence, if you grow tired of it, you sell it to someone that wants it and your actual spent $/isk/plex on the item is suddenly close to 0. Didnt think of that angle, did you?

#4 By introducing the high costly items now, they save the PLEX market from spiking, making the PLEX speculants that hoped for a massive increase in demand of plex quite bitter since the spike will not happen, costing them their speculation isk, thats billions upon billions of isk lost for them. This is exactly what CCP wants, that noone should profit to easily from speculatinon on the changes of a patch.

No content expansion?
*New Turrets, laying foundation for upgrading of the rest of effects in eve as well as other goodies. <-This one was pretty huge of an undertaking.
*More Bugfixes, fixing things that been broken: Always fricking good.
*Captain Quarters, the first cornerstone to the actual WiS. The remaining building blocks to come in staggered releases, as they said they would do with big changes.

Now I would be a tremendously happy for the old station view and a 'go to your quarters' option over the door. Running up to five clients, I cannot run CQ properly. When CQ customization and the real WiS comes: I'll be choosing to disembark to my quarters alot, but I'll still want just the old hangar and its functionality unless I choose to depod and walk among mortals. But it looks realy promising. A+ if they make me able to switch the main screen to the news I realy want to see.

Now CCP, when is my codpiece, my pirate hat and my gurista scientists geneticly engineered bunny coming in the noble store?

Fly safe. Thanks for clearing it all up.
To the ones who still feel harmed and are not just being douches, siding with certain angry nerd that rallied her commando team of alts and buddies to inflame opinion when she got a simple forum ban: Reading comprehension lvl 3, train it. Go to a university. Take debate class A.

Thank you ccp employee for your contribution.

12 months ago the player base voted very strongly for: absolutely NO MT that affect any form of game play. CCP confirmed that was their likely plan. 12 months later CCP are discussing it internally (whether it was a theoretical discussion or an actual plan is irrelevant) The players have said NO. CCP is still in the possible stage. The players are now saying:

**** CCP listen or EVE will die, we do not want MT that affect game play. We want that to be at the core of your values it is not up for debate or discussion.
