Zulu - you are NUTS!

Comparing computer animated code with real life clothing. I cant see paying more then a plex worth of money on an single piece of animated programing code. I am suprised at the way Eve has gone in this last week, yet alone on where it is going.

Zulu - take a step back and consider how far your disconnection with the game has gone. Consider where it came from, how it became, and who is playing it now. Consider these things and consider what has happen over the week and re-consider where you are going. I for one will be very unpleased if a new player can come in and buy the standings that I worked for soooo hard.

I guess there's no marketing outfit in Iceland that specializes in PR damage control.

Protip: When putting out a fire, use water, not gasoline. (That's a metaphor, I should helpfully say, since the "obvious" radar seems to be turned off there at CCP.)

I'm now going to go look up the expiration dates of my 4 paid accounts and do some serious thinking.

Zulu's Blog is quite possibly the most insulted I've ever been as a paying customer for a service.

CCP, why did you ok the posting of this blog? It's the most disrespectful thing I've ever read from all of you. Not only does it basically tell customers, "Deal with it," it also fails to apologize, it makes ludicrous comparisons between ingame microtransactions and real life... jeans, and uses clearly misleading language like talking about how beautiful Incarna is and how smoothly the update went to sweep the real issues under the rug.

1. First, apologize immediately for even daring to have the microtransactions mentioned in the leaked document even brought to the table for discussion.

2. Swear to the players that you won't be implementing these sorts of microtransactions.

3. Finally, apologize again for posting Zulu's blog which is a clear attempt at avoiding relevant issues and uses incredibly insulting language toward your paying customers.

4. After all of that is taken care of, then you can take care of other issues like deciding if Incarna is even worth trying to save and how to work out the microtranactions for aesthetic items only.

CCP, I cannot ever fully express how disappointed I am in you. I only hope that someone important and responsible for this foolishness gets to deal with the consequences they deserve.

this response is nothing more than an insult. I feel bloody offended that you think a response like that is acceptable and that CCP Policy is to attempt to take a high road in all of this. You will not be taking another penny from my wallet as this community is clearly led and driven by idiots with arse holes for brains.

I actually don't mind Incarna, Nor do i mind the introduction of non game effecting items such as clothes etc. NOR go i give a monkeys right testicle how you price them.

WHAT I CARE ABOUT, IS YOUR TERMINAL LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AT WHAT YOUR SUBSCRIBERS WANT. WE WANT THIS GAME FIXED, WE WANT THIS GAME TO BE A FOCUS AND WE WANT YOU TO STOP TRYING TO MILK US FOR EVERY ****ING PENNY TO GO NO FURTHER FORWARD THAN WE ARE NOW.

BUT MOST OF ALL.... MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, WE WANT YOU TO SAY NOW, WITHOUT DOUBT OR ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION THAT MT'S WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EFFECT IN SPACE ACTIONS. WHY THE HELL SHOULD I PLAY A GAME TO BE BEATEN BY SOME UPSTART WITH RICH PARENTS?

your going down a path CCP that many of us will not follow, I'd think about re-writing that statement and try again A.S.A.P for those who bother to stick around long enough to see it.

Up until now, my attitude towards this immense mess that CCP has made for itself has been relatively laid back. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and wait. I assumed that they had at least a tiny inkling of what they were doing.

Clearly I was wrong. After reading this excuse for a dev blog response, I am actually honestly angry at CCP. I really hope that there is an extraordinarily good reason for this condescending, vague and pointless excuse for a PR attempt. But I don't think there is.

CCP, I am shocked and disgusted with your handling of this situation. All you had to do was say "No. We do not plan to implement MT for non-vanity items." That's all, and most of us would be satisfied. Instead, some of my friends are unsubbing. I don't plan to, yet, but if this sort of behaviour continues from you, I will be leaving in search of greener pastures.

Straighten your **** out, CCP. I expect better of you.

EDIT: Quoting for agreement.

This is your response?

With regards to the internal newsletter, I get it, it's internal and serves as a forum for debate. I have worked in corporations considerably larger than CCP and a few smaller, I saw many such in-zines, made a few myself when I ran a glass-house. I never made the mistake of assuming the subjects in them were there by accident or purposefully filled mine with useless tripe. To make any assumption that your customers do not also have this same realization, in this day of targeted marketing, corporate culture and let's face it, propaganda, is to once again underestimate your customers.

We know why it is being discussed. We are not as stupid as you hope we are. This blog here never answers, or comes close to the main question everyone asked in the most recent 'threadnaught': our most fundamental overriding concern of micro-transactions and the integrity of the sandbox. Zip. We are smart enough to recognize omissions. Pitch forks do not make one stupid, the arrogance of kings and queens on the other hand has often proven fatal. What's worse is, your metaphorical Marie says we should be happy with cake, but the cake is a lie, and so is this blog.

Unsubed a little over a week ago, it was the right decision. Thank you CCP for once again proving me right. On this score, you did not fail to deliver, bravo!

Well said.

Hey all. To clarify this blog, its intent was to address two topics and two topics only;

1. What Fearless is and the nature of its content
2. The pricing strategy behind the NeX store

I do realize there are other concerns you have and those will be addressed, but doing it all at the same time would make the messaging tricky and muddled and not allow for a focused discussion. I understand a lot of the frustration going around but if we want to discuss then we need to do so in a constructive and focused manner.

Thanks,

a simple YES or NO on this question: Will MT be used for in game advancement/advantage? would be enough

CCP Zulu

You've addressed no real issues and your blog, while well intended (giving you the benefit of the doubt), will do nothing but further incite disdain for CCP.

CCP Zulu you really think that a monocular is comparable in value to a carrier? Just so you know I'm not buying a pair of jeans from some Japanese boutique, I'm buying pixels from an artist managed by lines of code written by programmers. Essentially your saying that Aurum doesn't have to fit within the norms of Eve's economy, even though they can be purchased and sold in markets once acquired from the NeX. This is the same precious economy that you brag about having an economist on staff to monitor and manage, and how important that economy is to the game. However I agree that in the end I don't have to buy them, personally I won't, and I don't begrudge someone that want's to spend their money that way - go for it!

But most importantly are we going to be able to by 30,000, 40,000, or 50,000 Aurum Battleships that have attributes that exceed in-game battleships and Aurum faction ammo that can out damage in-game ammunition? CCP it's time to live by your corporate creedo and HTFU and address the real issues that have come as a result of your Fearless newsletter and NeX.

Really? Last time I checked Zulu held rank in that contest.... Turbefield can say whatever he wants (and gawd bless his opinion) but it's the people making actual decisions the playerbase needs answers from.. By the way, in case the staff missed it, want to make sure this got asked:

Are game enhancing items going to be sold for MT?!?

You did not really address my main concern. I want to know what CCP's policy is going to be concerning MT? Will it be limited to vanity only? Why have you not answered this simple question?

As a long time EVE customer I think you owe me an answer to the question. Players have a significant investment in time and money in your game. I would like to able to make an informed choice about continuing to invest my time and money in your game. Right now I have strong doubts if your vision of the future if EVE match my expectations.

I will be clear and honest with you. I will not play this game if you intend to go down the aur for none vanity items. If you continue to avoid answering the question I can only assume you are being deceptive and do not want to be open and honest with your player base.

As for Incarna, it is without a doubt the worst expansion I have ever seen and I have seen many. Zero new content that I am interested in. If you think it is a success there really is a disconnect between our expectations.

This dev blog does not address the important question at all.

Will you be selling items for Aurum that affect gameplay?

This is the crux of the issue. If Eve is going to gradually move towards a "pay cash, win game" model, people rightly want to know that's what you are planning. No-one wants to spend years of their life building up to great things in game through hard work, co-operation and sacrifice, if some idiot with a trust fund can come along and buy the same thing with dollars.

Eve was/is a game world where you guys at CCP wanted to move everything to player-created, making a virtual economy that depended on the carebears and the pvpers living in symbiosis. What has happened to that vision? Is it being washed away by blind ideology that games should be driven by virtual goods sales? Eve is different, don't ruin it by trying to make it conform to a model that doesn't suit it, please.
