I am going to forgo reading the 20+ likely pages in response to the blog and just respond with my own thoughts instead of fanning the flames. There are enough trolls around here.

CCP Zulu thank you for posting the blog update.

I had my reservations at first and to be honest I had a suspicion of the "extremist view" approach as this is a common practice used in things as basic as debate classes. I am sure that some people in here who either participated in debate or were stand ins from say acting/drama, can vouch and speak as such. It makes sense to use it as a way for a corporation to hash out ideas and concepts.
I would have pursued the same internal approach towards the discussion. Clearly the problem that happened here was that document came to light without the proper context.

Unfortunately NO ONE can speak for the masses here as we are all individuals and as always the loudest are heard the most regardless of how intelligible it is.

I think what may put many players concerns to rest was the standpoint presented by Soundwave as the extremist in favor to be explained some more.

EVE is the only game I know of that has a fully functioning realistic market that is player driven. I mean think about it, some of those brokers caught for causing market bubble collapses in the US were caught because they were practicing PONZI schemes on here, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie Madoff was a former subscriber himself.

When Soundwave's opinions came to light, your player base ripped these forums a new one. While I don't care about apparel, the idea of buying Ships, Ammo, Mods, and SOV even, would collapse the entirety of the EVE Market. At this point I think was a catalyst concerning the MT system. If true, it would make BPO's useless, miners UTTERLY useless, and would remove the effectiveness of over half your player base.

For that reason, I think it is exactly what will not happen. The "leaked" papers being extremist point of views for the sole point of getting all the arguments out at once being just simply that.

I think what happened here was a collision between a multitude of MINOR bugs, idealistic views, and one debate class project taken in the wrong context.
For those who think this is a REASONABLE assumption please post your agreement. It is CCP's creation that we play, I don't give a damn if we pay for it as I enjoy their service. However CCP's future vision for EVE will NEVER suit everyone's tastes.

CCP, Talk about the elephant in the room. We aren't ****ing stupid. We aren't ignorant. We love your game, that is why we are angry, furious even over the course you seem to be setting. Talk about the elephant in the room. We want you to deny that your devs are working on ways to cut people out of the marketplace. We want you to deny that you are selling a direct, in-game advantage to players for money, removing any other parties from the transaction. Talk about the elephant in the room.Tell us that you aren't going to break the economy, and the entire game in the name of a quick buck. Talk about the elephant in the room. Quit bull****ting us with "Oh you are being mean, oh the prices are set like this for a reason," Quit dancing around the issue. Talk about the ****ing elephant.

My completely honest, non-trolling thoughts on this whole ordeal regarding microtransactions, nerdrage, the blog, and Incarna in general: Don't give a ****, still going to play, ignore the vanity store, enjoy CQ, and avoid the protesting systems. I understand the rage on game-changing items possibly appearing in the MT store and the over-priced-ness of vanity items, but I honestly don't care. People play a game the way they want to play it. You want to drop a few hundred bucks in CCPs pocket to get a ship I didn't pay a physical penny for? Fine, your money, your loss. I'll pew pew with my internet spaceship regardless. It's a game, it has an 'unsubscribe' function. Quit before you have an aneurism, I'll keep playing because I'm enjoying myself.

I...I don't even know what to say. The entire issue was ulimately betrayal of trust between CCP and the playerbase. Not how much your monocles cost.

Why didn't you address THAT, CCP? Are you TRYING to alienate us?

Their bet is that some idiots buying $1,000 worth of SP will offset all the thousands of people leaving eve over this.

Not gonna work.

CCP lied, EVE died.

50$ for a "basic skill package"
250$ for a "medium skill package"
999$ for an "advanced skill package"

Your choice over industrial, fighter or balanced.

Yeah... I can see something like that happening.

My reallife pants don't cost $1000. THey cost around $100 and i dont give a damn about the brand. But i do like the color blue and such... Hence why i bought them.

So Zulu, what silly excuse can we get next?

Should i pay $1000 for pants i can't wear? Or buy 10 pairs of pants i can actually wear and play eve the way i like it. In space, naked, submerged in pod fluid.

Pants are overrated!

Get real, who wants vanity items... Let those who want that go play the Sims or some ****ty game like that. Eve is about Nukes and Lasers and afterburners! Not pants and Microtransactions!

That said, i'm playing eve, i still like it. But... Hmm. All this buzz, not good for my mood.

This is just going to be another pointless rage thread. The future of microtransactions in EVE is the biggest issue here and the blog didn't address it. Focused discussion isn't going to take place here until that's addressed.

maybe i should remember tha... oh wait that's right we are talking about FAKE CLOTHES IN A VIDEO GAME. for 60 ****ing dollars. I can buy several pairs of "REAL LIFE" jeans here for 60$, why should i spend my REAL money on your FAKE clothes?

I personally don't think it really matters now, with that blog they have shown what they're really about.

They have no respect for their player base, they just portray themselves as being totally incompetent.

What was the point of them reading all those posts in that other main thread if they totally ignored what was being said, it's not like they could have missed the main question.

Well they've shown me that they are a shoddy company and I don't tend to have any dealings with shoddy companies so when my sub runs out, I'll not be anywhere near any of their products. Even if the company name changes in the future.

While I appreciated a response. I'm with Chribba. I'm still waiting for our concerns to be addressed.

Namely: will AUR = in-game benefit?

Is that the official plan for dealing with RMT bots?

@CCP: Guys, please sort yourself out and come up with some clear communication what direction the game should take! Looks to me as if you have some severe internal and external communication deficits, problems to listen to constructive critics as well as no real clue how to develop EVE to the next stage. Copying PS3 Home and selling virtual T-Shirts definetely won't cut the mustard!

The internal document was leaked, ok sh*t happens. The obvious result must be to answer ALL of the communities concerns! If you keep evading the questions, it'll just cement the majorities opinion that you want to turn EVE into some brain-dead gadget store and worse than that: Allow people to buy their way up the ladder. 100000 AUR and here is your 10Mill SP Booster...e.t.c.

Praise to the developers who did a really nice job on the turret effects and were probably slaving away to finish "something" for the Captains Quarters, because some marketing guy or upper management fixed the release date 3month too early and who are probably now on an unpaid overtime night-shift to get the performance issues sorted.

So i really hope you have an emergency meeting Monday morning and come up with a concise internal plan and some decent answers for the community.

Maybe CCP Zulu can also contact all the gaming sites that have been ridiculing CCP for selling $70 monocles and dazzle them with his $1000 jeans comparison. I'm sure they will immediately publish corrections and recognize the error of their ways in doubting the brilliance of CCP management.

Or the scorn heaped on a once innovative company will increase even more.

Dear CCP

I think there is more damage being done here than you realise, judging by the inadequate response you recently posted. I've played since 2003 on multiply accounts, i'm as loyal as it gets. I love this game for all that it is and a big part of the affection lies in the relationship between the players and the developers. I've always felt that we have travelled the road together that you absolutely had our best interests at heart. I now wonder if i've been niave, or perhaps the ethos of the company has changed? Maybe CCP is now not so different from all the other money grubbing corporations and governments out there who's sole aim seems to be to squeeze every last penny out of us? I hope i'm wrong..

If we are going down the "entropia" road i'm quitting.

This is disappointing. Again.

My and my corporation's concerns :

1. With the crazy load of CQ, will you keep the temporary option (and hopefully improve on the damn door) untill such a time as either the display settings for space and CQ are seperate and/or CQ actually has decent performance ?

2. Will you ever sell non-vanity stuff, in whatever form ?

We couldn't care less about prices of stuff we'll never buy anyway.

So we basically got told the people who wrote what they did in "Fearless" we're completely right in doing so because you say they are; and we have no right to disagree with them or be angry about their views. People's views are tied to THEM. So when we disagree, we call them out by name. Not some cowardly corporate-spin company meatshield. Where I'm from, you take responsibility for your self.

Secondly, the Nex store prices aren't changing at all. That middle finger pushed a few more cancels. And if you want to spend $80 USD on a piece of metal that fits in your eye (that doesn't actually exist and costs more than a capital ship/my medical insurance) or some cool new boots so you can be the shique trendy coolguy that your friends get jealousover and spend their ridiculous wad of cash on NOTHING so they aren't left out of the loop LIKE IN REAL WORLD FASHION BABY.

Hey all. To clarify this blog, its intent was to address two topics and two topics only;

1. What Fearless is and the nature of its content
2. The pricing strategy behind the NeX store

I do realize there are other concerns you have and those will be addressed, but doing it all at the same time would make the messaging tricky and muddled and not allow for a focused discussion. I understand a lot of the frustration going around but if we want to discuss then we need to do so in a constructive and focused manner.

You know how a part of this is to do with the atrocious state of communication from your company? You should do if you'd read or had at least a summary of what's been posted in the last day or two. But you're doing it again, you're compounding the problem.

If you only intended to address specific points, you did not make that in any way clear from what you posted.

And what you posted is frankly unbelievable, to the point of being insulting.
