That blog was the biggest load of garbage I've ever seen.
So glad I canceled my subs. I wish I could do it again. Extra cancel them.

I call B*ll**** on the supposed speculation nature of this internal pdf. If it was just a disscussion piece, why does it look like a finished "polished" marketing piece. If I produced more than a bullet pointed word document discussion piece maybe with a few flow charts at my work place, I would be asked why i was spending time on graphics.

As I sit watching the Amarr monument getting shot at over the smouldering wrecks of concord ships, by over a 500 angry players. All of which are spamming local and forums and hearing similar tails over the other trade hubs I think..

Does this blog do anything other then insult by utterly missing the point, cheaper vanity items??

CCP need to have a clear and open dialogue followed by a charter for any introduction of MT because today you lost any trust given by us that you even considered our interests as loyal players who are the foundation of this game. At this point I think it is unlikely any further trust on MT will be given and you really need to reassess your direction on this and earn this trust back.

That despite years of feedback from a loyal player base CCP in general just dont 'get it'
And from the CSM telling you this and and explaining, you didn't listen

Reap the butterfly.

Zulu,

Before I start, I appreciate the fact that responses to the various concerns raised have come relatively quick.

Secondly, I completely understand the function of this leaked Fearless edition as in internal document, discussion-starter or what not. This to me was clear from the start and has been underlined in your devblog. It is also completely understandable that Microtransactions was something that needed to be discussed within CCP.

However, the elephant in the room that has not been answered is the contradiction in regards to microtransactions. A communication went out that Microtransactions through the Noble Exchange would not be used for items with actual in-game benefits. Then this document is leaked and seems to indicate the opposite. A reassurance that no in-game benefits will come from Noble Exchange items is, to me, what is lacking in the devblog. This is implied in the second paragraph, but not adressed directly.

The prospect of these in-game benefits for real-life cash making an appearance in EVE is my only concern right now. After all, I and many other players do not like this idea at all. I would much rather pay a monthly subscription in order to avoid it.

If internal discussions within CCP on this issue are still going, I would like to know. If the idea has been outright rejected, I would like to know. Has a decision been postponed or has implementation already been planned? I would like to know.

To me, this right now seems to be the primary concern of the playerbase. An answer to that specific concern would be greatly appreciated.

As a self-proclaimed business expert, here's a question I'd love you to answer.

What is a business with very unhappy or no customers at all?

I'd prefer a short answer if you don't mind.

You have cancelled your EVE Online subscription.

Your account will be suspended at the end of the current subscription period, expiring on ********.

Your characters will be stored safely and be ready for you to enjoy again should you decide to return.

If you feel that this cancellation has been made in error, you can quickly and easily reopen your account by clicking below.

I just don't get it anymore, I don't think CCP does either. I'm a very casual gamer drawn here by a player driven world. I don't want the items in your store. If you are trying the cater to casual gamers than you've failed. If you are trying to cater to hardcore gamers you've failed because they are the people in this thread or they don't play and are laughing at this event. I don't understand what the thinking is, somebody floating on a golden parachute he just activated?

Hey all. To clarify this blog, its intent was to address two topics and two topics only;

1. What Fearless is and the nature of its content
2. The pricing strategy behind the NeX store

I do realize there are other concerns you have and those will be addressed, but doing it all at the same time would make the messaging tricky and muddled and not allow for a focused discussion. I understand a lot of the frustration going around but if we want to discuss then we need to do so in a constructive and focused manner.

Thanks,

You guys totally missed the point again. In what alternate reality do you live that you have enough smugness to start baliing people for raging at your workers after that blog? How lost you've got to be call this crap you call expansion something gorgeous?!

You did not deliver. You had almost 24h to get proper damage control and come up with some reasonable stuff to answer this leak and your general misperformance the past few years. You absolutely failed. Again.

I agree.

Especially because all items we "own" in EVE technically "belong" to CCP according to the EULA/TOS. So even if a pair of virtual pants give me some degree of satisfaction that does not mean that they are worth the same amount of RL money as a RL pair of pants. After all, I can sell a RL pair of pants again for RL money (even if CCP hf folds tomorrow morning). I can also desice to chop up the pants and sow myself a new bag out of the material. Additionally, my pants are not only for the pure "bling bling" factor but are in fact mainly there to keep me warm. Virtual pants don't do that for you. And the best thing about the 70$ RL pants is that they actually belong to you and not CCP.

Comparing RL pants with EVE online pants is simply insane (and that's a very benign term indeed).

CCP you have seemingly lost all perspective and sense of reality. ugh

No, until you say physically say NeX will not be used to sell game enhancing items like turrets, ammo, sp, standings, ships, boosters, implants.

There will be rage. Just flat out say, from here on out NeX will be vanity items only, and nothing else.

I am amused they say this was the best expansion so far....

It is so great I can no longer log into the client.
I can not even get to the log in screen with the client.

Yeah great freaking expansion patch. Giving me something I don't want or need in a "space ship game", the ability to freaking walk around in station.....

I just want to be able to log in damnit.

I just wanted to thank the people responsible for writing what was easily the funniest EVE Online Dev Blog I have ever read. For a little while I was actually concerned that you folks would be apologetic and seek to assuage the rampant anger of your subscriber base; for a moment I worried that you would handle this series of setbacks and failures with as much grace and directness as did Sony with theirs.

Fortunately for me and my love on the chaos your ample and brilliant mistakes inspire, however, you would have none of that. Your disconnected hubris and self-righteousness have won the day yet again, and you managed to write a Dev Blog that could effectively have the same impact as one that read "Suck it, nerds!" Every time I think CCP might have matured a little, at the very least enough to begin learning from their myriad mistakes, you all pleasantly surprise me with you commitment to disappointment, sending your lifeblood, your EVE Community, into spiraling fits of rage and protest.

Thank you for the entertainment I've had with your game over the past few years, but the time has finally come to drop it with no intent to return. You have made it amply clear that you have no interest in attending the actual concerns of your playerbase, and between "Greed is Good" and the other various indicators that you have dropped all pretense of being a company that cares about their product and its user (as a close friend who is also done with EVE forever put it, "they really are a greedy scumbag soul-sucking corporation that I want no part of"), our time together must come to an end.

Hopefully this latest and greatest fiasco will finally cripple CCP to a degree from which it will not recover. Even if it does not, I have had my fun. CCP employees do need to pray that they maintain their iron grasp on the Internet Spaceships MMO niche, however, for I am certain that any competition would leave this company destitute.

Anyway, thanks to you Zulu for the laughs, here's to a community outcry that leaves this company broken.

I was hoping that upon reading this blog I would be able to take some answers away from it. I understand that Fearlessis an internal newsletter. I read it with that in mind. You have a 7 year old game here that uses a subscription model which has led it to fantastic heights especially with how open you would be as a company and would truly listen to your users. However, this dev blog nearly proved to me and many others that you are not listening to what works and what does not and what the community wants. The community is what drives this game. It drives the economy, it drives the gameplay, it drives the experience. It drives your company. Without subs, you as a company would cease to exist. Therefore you as a company must listen to your community and respond to them. They are sending a clear message today and you must respond to them. Not by sidelining the main issue but by both tacking it head on and apologising to your community.

I write this knowing that for now it will be lost in the tumult of the threadnaught that follows.

I write this for posterity. So that others who come this way may look upon the ruin of CCP and know that in their hubris they spat upon their fans.

Remember us, those few who had a dream that was EVE. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish... it was so fragile. And I fear that it will not survive the winter.

It won't sink in. Just sits on the edge of my mind going "WTF CCP?!?!"

I knew you were isolated from the real world, but wow, just wow.

Do you have enough cash to last another 18 months without Eve backing you up?
Is that why you come with this hubris?

Massive load of fluff.

Where are the solid answers?

Where is CCP's stance on MT's outside of vanity items?

No word on making CQ optional?

Great job overextending your finances, CCP. That's what this situation appears to be. Why else would you say this:

"We will gradually introduce items at other price points, definitely lower and probably higher than what‘s in the store today. We hope you enjoy them and are as passionate about them as you are of the current items that are for sale."

It seems your more interested in screwing over the people who built you up to where you are today in future installments of MT's. And why? In order to finance two projects few of us will have much interest in.

"I hope I‘ve addressed your concerns and cleared up a lot of the issues you‘re having. We‘ll continue monitoring the forums and other communications channels and pick up and reply if there are concerns not covered by this blog."

No, and so what... Apparently it will do nothing to further the resolution of the actual issues you're ignoring in your blog.

Thanks for absolutely nothing.

I feel you're missing the point. The store and the newsletter are the evidence, not the case. Trying to abate frustrations by tackling the evidence does nothing to address the actual issue, and belies a fundamental misunderstanding of what's going on.

Please put out a memo, blog, a banner add for all I care, but show that you are taking the issues seriously. Put aside the evidenciary matters for a minute and speak to the motivations of the protesters. Players in Eve are a proud people, and you've just put their pride up for sale.

Zulu seems to be confused here. We absolutely have a right to be disgruntled by what seems to be an internal push for functional MT in the future, even if it is just opinion or brainstorming at this point. We are not your friends, we are not your family, we are your CUSTOMERS. YOUR job is to respond to what WE want, not the other way around. It seems you have forgotten this; without an official statement regarding future policy on functional MTs and judging on the responses in this and the other massive thread I suspect you will see a severe drop in subscriptions unless you regain your focus on your playerbase.

I hate when people write like this in forums, but I just can't express my feelings.

WHAT A FAIL BLOG.

Whatever reasons made you, Zulu, to write this crap, you are in a stinky dirt in my eyes now.

So only bad thing about that newsletter was that some persons in CCP are holy martyrs now... They "were asked", you see...WHY NO ONE was asked to voice the simple question "We kinda made the promise, how about that ?". Rhetoric question by now, I know.

Actually, I enjoyed this threadnaught, not because I love trolls and tears, I hate them actually. But because amongst usual noise there were extremely well written texts full of involvement, knowledge and feeling for a game. You have ignored them. Big deal, ignorance is a core of CCP, it is now clearer than a sun at solstice.
