So basically ignoring any important question that you invited the player base to ask you in a thread created by your own PR department. Good one.

CCP Zulu,

First off, I understand where you are coming from. You are trying to justify the acts, suggestions and ideas of your coworkers and try to thereby save the situation. But at this point, I'm afraid it's not going to happen anymore. People don't expect justifications anymore, nor do they want to read a blog post that contains nothing but mumble jumble about an issue that shouldn't even be discussed. We, the people, have spoken. Some guys did their job and released an article about some brainfart, but you really shouldn't try milking your "golden goose" even more. You've got a good thing going here, so don't ruin a great game just because of greed.

That being said, why don't you just bite the bullet and admit that the ideas described in that newsletter were in fact quite moronic, and even though YOU guys might like it, WE don't, and you'll therefor drop the idea completely.

CCP Zulu, you are an idiot. $1000 pair of jeans? What are you smoking? F*** $50 for a pair of jeans is pricey, and they are real items... NOT FAKE INTERNETZ SPACESHIP MONOCLES.

Waaaah. Cry and ***** some more, people.

This devblog says pretty much what I've been saying all along. The document in question was little more than a brainstorming session put into writing. While there's things there I disagree with, you people seriously need to pull your collective heads out of your asses, or shove them far enough in that you can't talk out of them anymore. You're pulling out tiny little tidbits from a brainstorming session and crying and whining about them, while blowing them way out of proportion.

I hope they quadruple the cost of Aurum items so the vain pricks who buy them will look like the magnificent wastes of oxyen they are, wasting real life money on virtual vanity items instead of something beneficial.

There are real issues to be concerned and maybe even irate about in Eve. This ****? Not it.

All expansions in Eve have needed tweaking and patching until they work fine on all systems. All expansions in Eve featuring new stuff(tm) have required balancing over time until they work as they should. Why the hell do you insane ******s think Incarna of all things wouldn't require the same? You guys seriously need to relax and have some freakin' patience.

We all have legitimate issues we can point to and ask CCP to focus on. Balance supercaps. Finish FW and all the other half-finished features added to the game. Return live events and work on them some more. Un**** the sound-engine until it stops derping halfway through an engagement. Fix the performance issues some people have with CQ. Make CQ activated with a button present in the normal ship-spinning mode.

Add another hundred things, depending on who you talk to. All legitimate, all things worthy of taking notice of...

And yet... what creates an uproar of epic stupidity and *****ing... an internal pdf that is for all intents and purposes just a brainstorming session of the 'what if...?' variety, and the cost of a ****ing monocle.

If I were to throw my toys out of the pram and quit Eve at this point, it sure as hell wouldn't be because of CCP. It would be because of how ashamed I am of my fellow players who really need to sit down, shut the **** up, then think for a ****ing minute. You're seriously *****ing your way into a freakin' frenzy over nothing.

To any CCP employees/leaders/whatever that may read this: You and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things when it comes to gameplay, storyline and roleplaying in Eve Online. CQ is proof of that. Still... I thank you for still providing a better MMO and game than all those other MMO devs out there, and I'm still here as a paying customer that still trusts you to listen to the community and then make your own decisions. The right ones. You'll never please everyone, and you haven't always pleased me... but I trust that you are still making decisions with the intent to make Eve as good as you can. (Making unprobable mission runners cry in their bowl of waaaah made my ****ing year, for instance.)

Whether I agree with those decisions or not... you're still way within the boundaries. Thank you, and keep up the good work.

And for ****'s sake, make CQ activated by a button in the normal ship-spinning screen.

If you introduce superior gear for sale for aurum it will become the new baseline for success, and ruin EVE Online.

CCP needs to commit as a company to not converting to a "pay to win" game model. Especially on top of already charging subscriptions. Anything else will not assuage us.

I don't know if the community as a whole can even accept non-vanity items at this point. Even if the current CCP staff commit to not adopting a "pay to win" model, the next people that have the job may feel differently. Stay away from the slippery slope.

Swing and a miss...

People aren't ****ed aobut the cost of monacles...

Eve gameplay is all based on self regulating markets, and fairness between players.

What everyone is ****ed at is the concept of people being able to pay real money and gaining an advtantage.

This could potentially destroy the game for everyone who does not purchase items.

Haven't you paid any attention to what has happened to other games which introduced balance related microtransactions?

Correct me if im wrong, but you stated in the past that you would never introduce microtransactions correct?

Finally, people are SUPER ****ED about you pathetic responses... we aren't stupid... trying to pretend we are isn't helping your case.

No, you have not addressed any concerns or cleared up any of our issues:

Will CCP be introducing MTs for non-vanity items?
What are CCP doing about CQ performance / GFX card overheating?
What is happening for the $99 licence?
When will CQ be optional?
Why are MT vanity items not destroyed when the wearer is podded?

This blog was a ****ing waste of time and didn't even touch on the core issues. Prepare for another threadnaught.

I wasn't angry before that devpost, I was actually calm and collected as frankly I'm not too effected by this expansion despite my distaste for the micro-transaction format. Now I'm livid. How dare you address the concerns of thousands of people with smug humour and words which lack any substance after they've waited for days for a proper responce. You actually make me sick CCP. I wish you nothing but misfortune for the rest of time.

This seems to be the case:

We misjudged the expansion totaly,
We should be shamefull that we react to the greed paper
An the NeX prices is fair and square.

Never has it been clearer that you don't give a damn about the community, that pays your salary. This is the most epic fail I ever seen in communication. You don't **** the bed you have to sleep in.

Hmm, succesful expansion? --> play your own game CCP (not directed at any person in particular, because that will hurt thier feelingsCrying or Very sad)

Hmm, gorgeous? --> for 2006 graphics yes, look at your own game CCP (not directed at any person in particular, because that will hurt thier feelingsCrying or Very sad)

Hmm, fearless? --> totally agree there, it takes balls to release a crappy dev blog like this while Eve is on fire (not directed at any person in particular, because that will hurt thier feelingsCrying or Very sad)

Hmm, it's just opinions --> yes, the problem is the opinions we loath are implemented in Eve by CCP (not directed at any person in particular, because that will hurt thier feelingsCrying or Very sad)

Hmm, pricing structure --> are you for real CCP? Lost for words here if people at CCP actually think that to be true. (not directed at any person in particular, because that will hurt thier feelingsCrying or Very sad)

Hmm, addressing issues --> maybe log into your own game and read local in trade hubs, CCP? Most lines are something along the lines of "NO MT CCP" and lo and behold, thats the issue NOT addressed in this devblog. (not directed at any person in particular, because that will hurt thier feelingsCrying or Very sad)

You've had most of two days and that's the best you could could come up with?

"We didn't mean it. We were 'exaggerating. srsly!"

Which on it's own is laughable enough, but then you follow it up with

Well real-world designers can charge you $1000 for a pair of jeans so we can charge you $70 for some imaginary pixels in your eye.

And you manage to totally side-step the issue of whether you have plans to start selling in-game advantages for cash? Staggering. Really, it's just totally ****ing staggering.

I look forward to see how you try to spin the next ****storm you just created with that ****ing blog Twisted Evil

Way to answer NONE of our concerns. Fail communication is fail.

You need to right now promise that the ******ed views of your lead game designer when it comes to MT will NEVER influence your game.

I don't care if you give us bull**** about this being "the private views of ccp employees." It's your goddamn LEAD GAME DESIGNER stating this ****.

TL;DR: Fire your communication advisors.

is this a ****ing joke? seriously? this is what took you 2 days? Can someone confirm that this is not a ****ing joke?

There is one simple question and you fail to answer that? This is my first post since the famous door thread, but this DevBlog is an insult. Just tell us when the new MT items influencing the game will arrive. Yeah you forgot to put in that date.

Try writing a Devblog with actual answers to our questions.

That excuse for a DevBlog represents everything that is wrong with CCP right now. The arrogance and detachment from the core issues is mind blowing.

The author is either stupid or hasn't been briefed properly. Either way GG CCP. You're now in structure.

This BULL**** is what you call "addressing Player issues"?

CCP, the only reason for all this stuff has to be, that you want to completely replace you customer base.
Well, as far as I'm concered, you just achieved you goal. I just un-subbed my two accounts.

It's not about you not having a clue what Players want, its about you not WANTING to have a clue what Players want.

Couple if things... How distanced is currently CCP employees from the community when one would come to believe that dev blog would clear up anything?

Secondly, "what u smokin' brah?"

People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50?

People wear hyped up **** as a sign of status, and as a final result - in order to get laid. In real life, one can get laid from a billion dollar monocle; people look at it and know this guy has his **** sorted. In-game, however, no one will get laid because of pixel clothes; no one will be looked upon in awe. People will go, "Bwahah, look at this jackass".

At last I'd like to say this: The only thing worse than doing nothing, is doing something which serves no purpose and think you're doing something useful. This dev blog answered none of the important questions, and was simply filled with excuses and castles in the sky. Please, don't **** on our backs and tell us it's just a rainy day.

Some people's reaction to the events of the last few days has been completely disproportionate, but your blog shouldn't have been directed at those people as it seems it was.

I don't think you've handled this very well. Telling us it's one your more smooth and successful expansions is like waving a red rag to a Reykjavik-sized field of bulls. If the people reading your blog thought Incarna was one of your more successful expansions you wouldn't need to tell us.

  • You need to address the issue of thousands of people who can't or don't want to use Captain's Quarters being forced to look at a dark, static backdrop.

  • You would have benefited from making it explicit that CCP's policy on microtransactions has not changed (though I agree with what you did write).

  • You didn't address the gap between people's expectations of NeX and how it has started. Some nod to "we should've given people a little warning" might have stopped some of the rage.

There are legitimate concerns you haven't addressed and your blog isn't going to cut it. I wouldn't want to be working for your Community team right now. At least they're not going to be short of work...
