One thing I keep hearing from apologists here is "The players are going overboard". How? Really, How can we actually go 'too far' when all we can do is yell at them in TEXT. It just sounds like you guys are completely against any kind of confrontation. The only other option available to the protesters would be silence and pray to 'god' that nothing bad happens. Which is giving up really. Honestly, if it wasn't for the completely deaf ear we get from EVERY SINGLE PLAYER CONCERN we might be able to have one of those round table discussions, but as the Faction warfare peeps how that turned out for them. So all we have left, other than just walking away, is to be annoying and hope it has an effect.

ArrowApparantly you never read the initial post but rather skimmed some responses before making your response.

A short recap:

1) The construction being discussed.
An amalgamation of misinsterpretations of what "incarna" is, objections to AURUM,
misrepresentations of an internal CCP deliberation, an april fools joke from 2008
general misgivings regarding the whole walking in stations concept.

The above have all been thrown together into a single "truth", that CCP are evil
lying cheats, making it near impossible to discuss the real issue- Will MT be
expanded beyond vanity items (prices of vanity items are meaningless).

2) The Tactics being used
A) Blocking certain systems from use for other players (and paying customers)
I`m very sure this would be against the EULA not to mention absolutely ******ED.
B) Calling on players to harass devs outside of CCP and infringe on their right to
privacy- which where i come from is not only exceedingly rude, but also STUPID.
C) Making threats/rude remarks to either devs or non-protesting players.
D) Rather than exploiting CSM to front an issue there are countless bands of players
canvassing other players to leave the game.
E) All current behaviour and posts promoting an escalation mob behaviour rather than
a constructive discussion (the forum is full of examples).

I`m fairly stunned you actually feel that the only alternative to what i`ve mentioned above is "doing nothing" (walking away in your words). Clearly you are one of the many who have completely lost perspective.

CCP lost an oppurtunity when they didn`t prepare players through proper and simple explanations beforehand. Their PR representative made a complete cluster**** of everything with the responses.

BUT THAT IS NO EXCUSE FOR GOING COMPLETELY OVERBOARD- which is what alot of players have done. CCPs apologies are only feeding the fire...

It`s time for CCP to take control of the situation.

Arrow My own suggestions for resolving the situation:

1. Stop apologizing and merely watch events unfold- make a clear, concise and short
statement about the purpose and function of "INCARNA"
2. Reduce AURUM prices 50% (while i don`t care, it will look to alot of people as a
significant concession.
3. Make a statement CCP has no intention of using MT for anything other than vanity
items. (it`s always possible to reneg on a later date if continued business relies
on it)
4. Start banning players who deliberately prevent other players accessing certain
systems.

I dont think people are over reacting, they are doing it because they think they still can affect ccps decision and the way they are going, they are trying to implement change in ccp, they are still a fairly small company not a big corporation so itd worth a try to stop the doom thats coming since alot of us have

invested 8 years of our lives in this game, plus have you read the newsletter and the devblog and the email, they are essentially calling players golden gooses, think we have bucket loads of money to be extracted and are being extremelly arrogant twards the player base.....that already on top of the whole mt for ships modules and so on that people are worried about.

Why am I "whining?" Here's what I've posted elsewhere...

<snip>
EVE is most definitely NOT WoW. While it's true that it's been possible to use USD to in-effect "buy" items in game (a Nyx supercarrier or a Sin black ops BS, for instance), it has always taken months and months--if not actual YEARS, for capital ships--of training to effectively use these items. One can play WoW for a month or two and be level 85.

Buying a monocle or some goofy pants to play dress-up is irrelevant. Let those people go to Second Life; nobody cares. However, if some punk with his mommy's credit card can now not only buy that uber ship, but the skills to use it, the implants to give him an on-field advantage and the standings to build a station to house it, that's quite literally a game changer.

This is the situation that was alluded to in the "leaked" top-level email and this is the issue that the devs absolutely refuse to address. It's their game, their property, their intellectual rights and their pixels--they are free to do what they want with those assets. What we want to know is if they're now going to sell win to players who by default don't have as much blood, sweat and tears invested.

EVE has always been a game where the rewards have to be earned and profit comes not before extraordinary risk. The check to an uber pilot in a faction BS has always been that a couple of *smart* pilots in T1 frigs can take him down. If the advantage goes not to the smarter player, but the richer one, the the EVE we all love will be gone. I hope to convey to everyone that those of us who have invested a lot of time and resources in the game (just over four years for me) have a substantial amount to lose. Yes, it's just a game, but that game has a TRULY player-driven economy as well as a CSM. EVE is unique...it's the thinking-man's MMO...it has a learning cliff, not a learning curve...we lovingly call it a spreadsheet with a screensaver. We've been through so much together--scandals, botched expansions, lean content in the early years, etc. We stood by CCP and defended it against those who just don't understand because the devs--imperfect as they are--always listened to us and cared about the game every bit as much as we did.

Now that CCP has to listen to investors and Sony more than the the players, we're afraid that the Golden Age of New Eden is over. All we want to know is where the Aurum store initiative is headed. We don't care that the monocle costs $70--if you're stupid enough to buy it, then you deserve to lose $70. CQ is a thinly-veiled attempt at alpha testing ambulation and a testbed for WoD. Yes, it screws-up FPS, but CCP will eventually fix that--they always do. Besides, there's already a work-around for us multi-boxers. That CCP won't answer The Burning Question is more than a slap in the face, it's a gigantic F-U. I guarantee you that Blizzard, Sony, Cryptic, EA, etc. are watching the Jita Riots. You may not play EVE; you may not understand what the fuss is all about...but if you play an online game, this WILL affect you. The subscription model may be on its way out, but this is still relevant.

The Community is broken. We old-timers are confused and angry and every hour that goes by without a response from the devs just makes it worse.

The villagers have torches and pitchforks and have attacked the statue in the square.
</snip>

Like most of the posters, I don't want to wait until it's too late...Until EVE is too far gone.

@Siestre Vitale:

WTF IS IT WHAT YOU CALL AN EXPANSION??? HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED AT THE PATCH NOTES OF OTHER MMOS?? THEY ARE WAY BIGGER THAN EVES ADDONS!
Eves addons are not even major patches anymore. They were in the past but now they are just normal patches like you see in every mmo.
Dont be stupid, just because they sell you $hit as gold makes it not better.
Also they are NOT FREE! I pay 15 euro per month for servers AND developement, improvement of the game.

Have you ever played the content on other MMOs? For what I had the level to play, I was generally rather bored, and besides it's not hard to hash up 2-bit graphics and a basic cutscene.

On 6/24/10 we were told point blank that CCP had no plans to introduce ANY type of MT whatsoever. Now we have the NEX shop. Thats a 180 degree turn around. Being as it takes '18 months' for CCP to fix/do anything were they lying then? Will you or I actually believe them now if they say there will not be any non-vanity items in the nex shop in the future? I won't, especially since I saw what was discussed in the Fearless newsletter and that Hilmar specifically said, "We have communicated our intention here INTERNALLY in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our FEARLESS NEWSLETTER, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone." HIS words, not mine. It comes as a surprise to us since it wasn't done EXTERNALLY. (note that I put his important words in all caps) If we are to believe that "the newsletter doesn't represent the values of CCP" spin, then Hilmar contradicts that in his GLOBAL MASS MAIL. Do we believe a dev or the CEO?

In Fearless, they said that they will be selling standing and other non-vanity items for Arum.

THEY WERE ALL READY AT THE EXPANSION TO SELL Scorpions

(or don't you remember that) They removed it from the expansion because of the stink we raised and they said they couldn't add a mechanic that a scorpion ship would be a required material to buy it from the cash shop. (now that I think of it, did they actually remove it or just not make it an option right now?) I have been playing this game for almost 4 years now and this would have been UNTHINKABLE for me to think before. Now? Not only do I think it, I KNOW it is coming and I am SAYING its coming. I pray that they prove me wrong. Unsubbing my 3 accounts is the only thing I can do as a paying customer since I quote Hilmar, "I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say" SO what did I do? I will let my 3 accounts lapse. I pray I am wrong, but I really doubt it.

i've been kept out of jita all weekend. this has made me unable to play because jita is where i operate.

sick and tired of this stupidity.

this childish "civil disobedience" in game has to be put down so other subscribers can actually have the fun they pay for.

the so called "protestors" have no interest in talking, being caught up in silly conspiracy theories. Moreover they've been so caught up in their own bull**** they don't even understand the facts of what they'yre whining about.

For the love of god CCP and maybe also for your customers- put and end to this crap..

if people can't behave among others, they have no business being among others..

Funny… I've been able to get into jita every time I've tried. And why do you have to be in Jita to operate?

Of course Vanity Items aren't the issue - I think it's both funny and tragic that clueless people think it is! Incarna isn't the real issue either. Oh, and a word of advice for you, since you apparently like the game but can't expend any effort to protect it - if you can see trouble approaching on the horizon, such as non-vanity items going on sale, you don't stick your fingers in your ears, close your eyes and sing "lalalalala" until they arrive in the game. You don't like MT, you say, but laughably your chosen course of action when it happens is to suck it up and just leave for another game. Man up, grow a pair, then remind yourself that if you don't take a stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

The rest of your post is so worthless I'll just leave it there.

Don't be stupid. Protesters were leaving and new ones arriving all the time. At most I had a four or five minute wait to get into Jita, and usually it was under a minute. Stop exaggerating and dry those sweet little tears.
