I can just imagine the following picture:
A CSM standing in his CQ, wearing a golden monocle over his left eye. At the same time wearing a blue shirt that has a white volcano on it with the text "iceland". Behind him you can see his gold plated Navy Raven sitting in the hanger, a huge barrel mounted on top of it and "uber nuke" missiles stacked nearby...
"Sold out? Of course not! We just want what's best for everyone!"

Still doubting people are moving on from EVE?

http://blog.perpetuum-online.com/posts/2011-07-01-movement-of-the-people/

These guys saw their stats quadruple to 850+ players.

Not everyone that unsubscribed is playing Perpetuum of course, but it's a fairly concrete sign something is up, and should have been corrected before the damage was done.

I personally know a few very good players who's time has run out, they are gone, many more to follow.

I don't understand why people refuse to believe it? Are they angry that they can't do it or just unable to believe somebody else can.

It doesn't really matter i guess, the game will continue no matter if a few thousand people quit, so don't worry fanbois. The thing is the community as a whole loses out. Seems we have the terrible situation now of two classes of player, Monotrolls & everybody else.

Not enviable, & extremely unfortunate IMO.Neutral

CCP has the CSM by the balls with the NDA, the only leverage CSM has is with accounts being unsubbed.

This all seems really simple to me.

Players (me included) have chosen to invest huge amounts of time in this game over the years. They're upset because they feel that this investment might have been wasted.

The only way to protect against this is for CCP to post the product roadmap.

Many technology companies do this for exactly this reason. To let their customers understand what it is they, the customers, are investing in.

CCP should post the roadmap of future expansions out for the next three years and keep it up to date. There should be the usual caveats about the out years being less certain than the current year. Only the large initiatives, not the small fixes need to be highlighted.

The only reason I'm still playing is because I'm excited to see what happens next in this game. The future of this game is the only reason I continue to invest my time and money.

If CCP posts this roadmap it'll allow the current players to take a look at this future and decide if they want to keep investing. CCP may lose players but that is as it should be. They will have made a rational, informed decision about the direction of the game and what they'd like to be doing with their time.

Posting the product roadmap is the fair, honest thing to do and CCP should do it.

So was there a server hiccup tonight? Prime time play on a Friday night and while I was on bouncing between toons for almost two hours I noticed that the server population didn't get above 30,000.

If CCP is stupid enough to not come out and directly say 'NO non-vanity MT ever, we mean it, here it is in the EULA', then they deserve to have 20% or 30% of their player base unsub, and fail miserably in making up for it in MT.

Yes, implementing MT in other games did work. It will NOT work in eve online. Due to the very nature of the game itself, it is theoretically impossible that it will work. Is it not obvious yet that this whole escapade is a failure so massive, it deserves to go on the front page of failblog?

Let me repeat: Other MMO's went to MT in lieu of paid subscriptions, and saw a 500% increase in revenue. This is not the case with eve. The MT-eve universe is not sustainable beyond 100k players - and on average, CCP would be lucky if they could get the average MTcost/player/month all the way up to $15 USD. Introducing MT to eve, on any level, will always, unfailingly, and consistently result in lower revenue. Every millisecond that CCP waits, to see if it will somehow stabilize and get better, inevitably screws them out of money that they so desperately need.

Flying the CSM to Iceland is just CCP playing the waiting game - a blazingly stupid decision, but not a critical one. This particular decision - the decision to wait, and fly the CSM out - won't single-handedly determine life or death for the game and the company, but they are rapidly approaching that critical-decision point.

You know our demands, CCP. Chances are, you can reclaim most of the unsubbed accounts just by announcing in the EULA "NO non-vanity MT ever, no exceptions, no changing minds next year." Heck, you might actually break even with the noble's exchange, versus the tiny number of people that still unsubscribe.

The unsubscriptions will happen en-masse though, if things continue along their present course.

How can they post what they make up as they go along.

Good luck waiting for that.

A very short document you will be getting then.

And that is why you will never see one. Given the way things have been going over the last few years, their roadmap is sure top p**s off a large number of users, especially vets.

Playing something from a different company.

And England should be winning all of the Soccer, Rugby and Rugby League World Cups and the Great British hop...oops, he lost... the great Scottish hope Andy Murray should have won Wimnbleldon since they have such huge pools of players and invented the games

It ain't gonna happen.

You cant expect a group of people to be prepared for this kind of ****storm that we had going. Explains their very poor management of the problem, its not like theyd do it on purpose.

No. No. No.

If anything the reaction has been less than you would think. Here are a few reminders.

Hardware issues, MT especially p2w, ccp bull**** (an ever present admittedly), ccp arrogance like :$1000 Jeans:, ccp internal stuff, ccp PR spin aka lying, the endless wait and failing to answer the big golden question, the 'ccp Pann' incident (ironic how people believed this when the default position is prove it, seriously what are the chances of this happening just when this thread starts?)...

...more ccp arrogance like 'stay the course' (almost forgot the 'ignore players comments on this'), spending no money on eve, and last, but in no way least, the abomination that is CQ. No doubt there is more.

The vanity items might have been badly handled but no one really cares since only t a r d s will buy it.

Hardware requirements, it is funny how CQ needs more powerful hardware than actually playing internet spaceships. This is a game about internet spaceships right?

The point is that it does seem like they did it on purpose. No one knew about this (they never even told the CSM), otherwise the protest would have been instant and we would not be in this position. They tried to sneak MT's into the game despite saying repeatedly they had no plans to, obviously got caught, and now trust in ccp is possibly at an all time low.

And I'm back posting...

First account goes dead in ... 2hrs 43mins

As I promised, as soon as I have confirmation that no MT for in game items without a draw on the market, I will return. If it don't come thats one account down... 4 more to go.

CCP and now the CSM have to learn about fecking publicity and PR. If you promise something you MUST deliver it. And the best PR people under promise and over deliver.

This is a PURE feckup in PR... but one I hope makes CCP learn their lesson. Delaying the text FOR A VIDEO and translation is just crazy... REALLY!

"We need to wait for translation so its not taken the wrong way?"//

WHICH TELLS ME ITS NOT A NO!

so this could be bye bye from me.

This opinion is probably said somewhere in the 13k replies but i will say it anyways:

The cool thing about eve was, that it was free of ***gotry like in other games. Now it's like any other game.
