After over 12000 posts, there is not much one can say that has not been repeated over and over again. I'll be brief - I am not interested in EVE if MT for non-vanity items is allowed.

It would be a shame if the long-delayed response to the central question raised in this thread turns out to be some used-car-salesman spin. If the answer isn't "yes" or "no", then they aren't answering the right question.

After finally finding and reading the internal CCP .pdf newsletter on the Internet. All I have to say is that I am totally DISGUSTED at CCP!

It is obvious that this was planned long ago, and you're looking for a easy bail out of your obvious 'biting off more than you can chew' attitude! Evil or Very Mad

I'm fairly certain now that you will NOT listen to what the CSM will tell you at the Emergency Meeting, and will Reap What You Sow!

Time for my regular post to try to keep this thread on the first page. And to remind CCP once again that I'm still waiting for their response. ugh

Have any of you considered that it might be because:

CCP has to introduce MT in order to marry it with Dust successfully and they have to do it now to begin beta testing Dust soon and they have to complete Dust because they've already entered into a binding contract with Sony. So now they are stuck in a jam because they expected the players to just accept it and weren't prepared for the overwhelming display of anger and action it received. They called an emergency CSM meeting to figure out what they can do to without breaking contractual agreements.

I think it's awesome what CCP is doing. They are going to be the first ever to marry a PC game with a console game but still allowing them to be independent and connect with each other. Kudo's for them pushing the boundaries and be future inovators. Thats why so many of has have liked EVE for so long now is because they keep being the first to do things and have produced the best scifi game so far. So give them some time to work out the kinks and come to some compromise.

CCP: Why not level with your subscribers and tell them really what is going on. If you are having financial trouble then why nnot ask for our help? We have been loyal fans for years and if you said to your followers that you need help, don't you think we would help? Llok at all the plex for good donations that have been achieved. You asked us for help then, why wouldn't we help a game we love so much and have invested so much time in? Alls we ask is that you level with us honestly about financial concerns and the direction of the items going to be offered in the store.

Sincerely,
GW

If CCP answer "Yes there will never be Non-Vanity Micro transactions ever in Eve" then they would be lying because there is no way they can say that. Nobody knows what will have 6 - 9 - 12 - 18 months in the future.

These kind of promises have gotten a lot of MMO devs into trouble before.

If CCP were to say "There are currently no plans to introduce Non-Vanity Micro transactions in the near future" that is much more realistic and believable.

Then inflict some damage....

PLEX is a liability to CCP. It represents game time they have to maintain that they have already cashed the check on. It is a loan from the players.

NeX is a good way for them to get rid of that liability; when folks cash in PLEX, they don't have to provide services for game time and all some idiot just gets a monocle or a pair of jeans (which costs nothing for CCP).

Unusub players - Kick them in the nads
. Sell all your stuff, convert it to PLEX and give it to a (staying) player that you can trust to use it for game time.

Ouch! Your unsub just hit CCP's cashflow hard because they just lost X times PLEX of short-term subscription fees. The added benefit is they they get NOTHING from sales at the NeX store from these PLEX.

If they need liquidity, take it from them. You can even keep your mission ship on your account so if things turn around you can build up quickly enough.

You might not like the idea, but I thought it was cool. Full credit to Londo Cebb in previous post. Hit me as particularly vindictive.

if you hoard PLEX but still eventually use it for subscription, then it really does nothing but slow the income, what more will hurt? trash the PLEX you hoarded. its a sacrifice, yes, it it'll have a very huge impact taking em out of circulation as may as you can.Twisted EvilTwisted EvilTwisted Evil

But that is just the art of lying without lying, Captain Obvious.

Let's explain it Barney style:

Owners/Shareholders of Corporation X are worried about losing a lot of revenue due to <revenue stream altering> Project Y, which is making some of their customers angry and already causing a loss of business.

CEO W of Corp X circulates internal memo telling all employees of Corp X, "Project Y is cancelled!"

5 minutes later CEO W holds a press conference and says to shareholders/customers/reporters, "Corp X has cancelled Project Y."

5 minutes later, CEO W circulates internal memo telling all employees, "Prepare to implement Project Z (which does exactly the same thing as Project Y) in 6 months."

I hope I'll see revenue from dust and wod going to developing eve online. I'm fed up seeing revenue from my subs leaking into games that I wont never play.

What comes into CQ. I, like many many others, play this game to fly spaceships killing spaceships while in space. If I would like to pimp my avatar, shake my virtual ass, walk, run, pose, chat, have a haircut or find a e-GF I would play some OTHER game.

If you (CCP) is so desperate about gaining more income to keep investors happy (and btw they never really are, as you could allways gross little more) you need to fix youre game. atm servers are barely holding big fights, server logs never shows anything and youre need for speed is vain job as you keep buffing the game with horrible coded resource eating stuff that have ZERO effect on actual gameplay.
Better game will definetly earn more than a bad one....Wink

With the financial problems, if we tip them over the edge then this may be the best thing for Eve.

An administrator will look at the company, its cashflow, its earnings, cancel WoD, cancel or mothball Dust and focus the company on the profitable part Eve.

Is there a reason that the CSM has to go all the way to Iceland, when they could more cheaply and conveniently have a Skype conference? What's in Iceland that the CSM have to see? And why on earth give this company ANY advantage in these discussions? Why do we think the CSM going to Iceland is such a good thing? It only delays any progress that could be made by the player base who are simply STILL waiting for an unequivocal answer as to whether or not CCP plans on introducing a P2W system into the game? I understand the advantage for CCP to delay things, but really.......they've had the opportunity.

And I have to be honest. If the CSM comes back in a week, and tells us "It's all good , folks, we stopped it in its tracks", what's to stop some of us from seeing this as a sign they were co-opted in some way? Venture Capital has alot of money and muscle to throw around to see their plan work.

Lastly, and I've thought about this a great deal lately......it seems to me, that if I were on the CSM, and had been bushwacked by CCP the way they have.........I'd be outraged, and resign. Resigning en masse (falling on your swords) would be the honourable thing to do, when faced with such dishonest and deceitful behavior from the very creator whose reason for your existence was to prevent any REPETITION of said behavior, after they were caught out last time.

The CSM was there to "keep the bastards honest". In that, whether or not the fault is yours, you FAILED. If I felt I had failed my constituents, by commission, or omission, whether or not it was my fault.........the LAST thing I would do would be to allow the entity responsible to USE me again. And yet there you go, packing your sh-t, and getting those visas ready.

Not only will I never, ever trust CCP again to look after me as a customer, but I'll never again trust the CSM to look after my interests as a player. As far as I'm concerned, when you accepted that invitation, you proved you couldn't be trusted.

Do the right thing, for a change. Man up and tell them there's nothing they can tell you, that they can't come right HERE and tell us. And stay home, you junket faeries.

Even at this point, a yes/no answer is irrelevant - i'm still untrusting of ccp.

They want more munny. They see how they're going to get it from us.

Remember, CCP is not your friend. Its not your mother, your father, your dog Bruno. Its a company, and money is the business.

They're not looking out for your wellbeing, they're looking to see how they can maintain a steady income to grow in size and generate more for themselves. They only care for the game so far as its user base is happy. Its the same with facebook, they don't care for you, they don't want to look after you, they just want to provide you with enough features to keep you on it, so that when push comes to shove, they can dangle your name and details in front of other companies to reap profits in advertising.

I'm really disapointed CCP... -.- i want a sad smile for this Forum... so that you can see that i'm almost crying. It seems that you dont WANT to recognize that you've made a big mistake and in EVE every action has an IMPACT.

STOP DOING THIS! PLZ!
I'm playin EVE cause i thought you guys care about the meaning of the community! Do you really want to destroy, what you've built in the last 8 years? Whats wrong now? You guys released tons of FREE expansions for EVE you didn't say:" Pay for this Addon or **** off", like WoW does.

You can say what you want, but i know that if you dont stop with P4V (Pay for Vanity) then one day you will come up with a new cool idea: The imba new ship for Aur.

Edit: Accs quit... for now, i got 1 month left, show me that you listen to me CCP

This is the player side. The CCP side of it is that they capitalize almost all of their dev expenses, i.e. salaries they pay to devs go into assets because the devs wrote code that has value estimated at the cost of developing it. If they then figure out that they won't actually make money of this code, they have to write it off, resulting in a huge red number on a balance sheet as assets go poof. Losing tens of millions of dollars doesn't look good but if they can fudge some of the Dust/WoD work into EVE they don't have to do it.

My daily contribution: Wow, there's serious damage control and FUD action going on in the other threads. "Buy MT or CCP goes broke" awesome, guess what, CCP does fine if they concentrate on doing EVE right.

Well the most amusing thing is, I fully expect the CSM to return with their heads in their hands and never mind what Blog will be written about the meet, and never mind all the damage control that'll be in place next time if they do it right, there WILL be another ****storm.

Anyhow, who cares about words, let's see subscription numbers for next quarter.

TBH, the greater majority of Eve players could not give a flying f*ck about WoD or Dust. The fact that these titles are getting 90%+ of the dev resources which we are paying for and will have Eve downgraded to just another P2W shambles, this we do care about.

Imagine being married and then your husband charges you $5 for the soup at dinner and $10 to play with your own kids. I know CCP is a company but they fed us with the impression that they are our drinking buddies for years. Organizing fanfest and all that. So if they want to play microsoft that's their choice but they can't have it both.

It's too hard to intimidate people over the net.

http://ancienthistory.about.com/cs/people/p/gracchi.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gracchi

Historical Synopsis on the situation.

"According to the classicist J. C. Stobart, Tiberius's Greek education had caused him to overestimate the reliability of the people as a powerbase, causing him to overplay his hand. In Rome, even when led by a bold Tribune the people lacked anywhere near the influence they enjoyed at the height of the Athenian polis.[2]"

"Gaius lost his life [6] and about 3000 of his supporters died in the fighting or in emergency execution shortly afterwards."

CCP abandons eve its cash cow. Sums it up.

If they will do this to us while we are the cash cow. I can only imagine how bad they will treat us when they their other games up and running.
