You know I almost came around to Chribba's perspective last night.

There is so much cash to be made and laundered if Eve goes RMT and you can get involved in the market via a site license.

Brings all the RMT'ers into the fold and makes them official CCP resellers of items/isk.

dunno what the forum is smoking, but no edit was made.

I think one of the biggest things CCP seems to forget is how important single players can be in this game.

I've seen a lot of corps fall apart when the CEO or main FC decided to leave. Eve is a sandbox and if you are in it to PVP, the game content can be driven by a few key players. If these key players start to leave, the game experience as a whole diminishes.

Losing a subscription from mission runner johnny in high-sec isn't going to cause eve any problems. Losing alliance leaders, CEO's, directors and most importantly FC's is going to result in a reduced game experience universe wide.

In the P2P model being touted in this thread...you could lose millions of players and those remaining could still have a similar game experience day to day. In Eve, you lose a SINGLE key player and 3000 people have to move their stuff back to empire.

All so very true. We are Eve's content. Flash in the pan dopamine addict P2W players don't want to target ships and orbit. It's just not the same kind of game play as an FPS or a fast paced twitch game. This is a slow game, it needs people interacting on both small and large scales to work.

I like my Monocle but I like my Pony Hair moar. Shame I could buy a new Vindicator for the price of either in this game. Cool

i watch as much as the interveiw as i could stand.

point one, i feel obliged to make a joke about how CCP has an office in Shanghai, of all the cities in China. kind of an indication of the company direction.

point two, he specificly mentions "virtual sales", their line for microtransactions, even though the interveiw was posted april 14, 2011. well before the NEX store was made public. the way i understand it, plexes are subscriptions you can sell to someone else. so he was thinking of this for some time?

point two makes me more sure of my decision for Perpetuum. i really hope i'm wrong.

3 years.

We've been getting warnings since they read about what WoW did.

Resignations, leaks, lawsuits etc.

Their failing was not just being honest with customers 3 years ago.

also, nice job on the armathreaddon thing, the threadpocalypse that was mentioned earlier really does not cut it for me.

And they were told time and again not to do it. And they did it anyway.

Cause some game with 7 million players where 5% of them will pay for items in a f2p game. 5% is a lot of money when you think of 7 million players. Its not a lot % wise of 300k players however (many of them alts).

Which is why its insane to do what they did. If they lose players with multi accounts its not going to just be a loss of fraction. You can think this that each player in eve of substantial age as a character is 2 accounts. They all need an alt for transport, probing, cynos at that level. They dont just lose one account when a person says FU you greedy *****es.

They are cutting up the golden goose and serving it for dinner.

Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread.

so if people think it would be great that you jump from a bridge will you do it?

i bet some will think you are the coolest guy in the world others well i don't know.

if you live by what people think of you, then im sorry for your hollow sad life.

if you are comfortable with what you do , being wearing x brand of clothing by spending money on chocolates, getting fat or whatever your most dark desires ask from you then do it, the only one who must care for what you do is yourself, to hell with everyone else.

next time chose a better game of words, to justify what the company do and don't automatically assume that players are people who think that empty fashion zombies.

if they want to buy the monocle and feel happy with that then good for them, i dont think anyone will buy that just so people will say to them oh wow you are so cool!!!!

who the hell do that in this time and day......

to the movie, the words went by really fast and i had to pause/rewind often to read it. plus they seemed to have been squished horizontally.

i listened to that music before it became the themesong to all dramatic youtube videos. you could have made a better selection

altogether, great job compiling, but the details could use some work.

No one can argue, that when a business does not listen to it's customer base, that it is destined for failure. Look at Apple's business model. They've made it an imperative rule to NOT listen to their customer base. And they sit on top of the largest amount of liquid assets of any company in the world, or at least they did at the end of the last fiscal year. But then again... look at Apple's customer base. The EVE Online community are NOT a bunch of mindless drones who are easily impressed with shiny objects, nor are they foolish enough to fall into a spiraling and infinite trap that forces them to continue paying for their allegiance. Yes, you can develop the product to your own design and specifications. Yes you can convince the masses that they need the product through mind-manipulating marketing. Yes, you can create hidden hooks to ensure that once your product is purchased, your customers will be forced to continue purchasing from you (i.e. iTunes & App Store... What, did you really think you were spending your money on an MP3 player or laptop? That's not how Apple logs the purchase...). And you may even then succeed and amass wealth overwhelming. But at what cost... Will you listen to your player base and continue to evolve EVE Online into the rich and wonderful player-economy & player-interaction driven experience as you have done so over the years? Or will you throw away all that you have accomplished to suckle from the teats of the bland and vapid, who have forgotten the true value of what it means to really earn their ISK and experience the universe of EVE? Or perhaps they will never have to. Why would you ever do such a thing, when you can inject money into your Aurum account, hit a macro combination, and break that Rook's jamming suite to acquire a firing solution...
