1) Make good game (2003)
2) Add content (2003-2008)
3) Fix bugs (2003-2008)
4) Add more content to keep subscribers (2003-2008)
5) Fix more bugs (2003-2008)
6) Ban farmers (2008)
7) Start your own farm (PLEX) (2008)
8) Realize the market will stagnate and there's only so much you can do as far as content, but that you can change the entire game for short, windfall profits (2008)
9) Slowly change and remove content (2008-2011)
10) Introduce new backbone with it's own new market and "Vanity" items (2011)
11) Pee in everyones' cornflakes hoping to maintain only those with daddy's credit card number and little self-control
12) Slowly return removed items to game but make them available only on the "New" market
13) Remove the original market entirely, while migrating every in-game item to the "New" market, thus forcing everyone to the "New" market (2011-2012) since maintaining two separate market databases is asinine at best
14) Profit$ for the short term
15) Pray the market analysis was right and that you get enough windfall cash to finish products #2 and #3, at which time #1 is pulled offline, thus freeing all hardware resources for the big money-makers: #2 and #3. If this succeeds: WIN, else: FAIL.
16a) If 15=WIN: Screw #2 and #3 when you decide it's time to make even more money, jump to #8 and repeat the process.
16b) If 15=FAIL, wish you never peed in others' cornflakes, slit wrists, overdose, eat gun, perform windshield and tree taste-test, bungee jump but forget the cord, etc., etc...

It simple maths really... I have 2 characters, thats a cool 240 a year. I bought a nice powerful laptop 2 years ago to play this game, that's a further 500, so, in total this game has cost me 240 x 3 (years) + 500 = 1220. And now that my laptop isn't powerful enough to run both characters simultaneously, am I to spend another 500 so that I can walk about brandishing my 30 (or so) monocle by myself in my quarters?

I have a family... Play EVE or feed my children, Play EVE or feed my children.... hmm, tough one.

What can I say, my XBOX360 has been put back under the tele in the last few days. Simple and much much much cheaper. Apart from that, I suspect some of CCP's competitors are now smiling to themselves, expecting new business.

Ive been in eve since. 2007. and i remember CCP clearly stateing this will never have microtransactions. saying one thing and doing something you said youd. never do makes players angry.

Incarna walking in station looks decent. but. before players could run about 5 accounts on their computer now with haveing 5 toons i cant even run 2 with incarna which will. eventually cost most players to spend more haveing to buy a new computer just to run those other toons.

Yesterday i went to jita. obviously ccp you can see that ppl are mad about the new changes. it took me 14 mins to buy 1 module. which is pretty bad. even from 5 jumps away you can still feel that same lag amount.

you want to make the community happy put things back to way they where. you want to come out with new things as the community what they want set up a voteing system. that way players can actually have a say on various things.

When EVE was young, development focused on helping players to do what they wanted to.
When players began forming ad-hoc alliances, CCP introduced formal alliances.
When players began using secure containers and logged off industrial pilots as supply depots in deep space, CCP introduced modular starbases.

Somewhere along the line, this changed and CCP began cultivating an adversarial relationship with the EVE playerbase on a strategic level. EVE players have shown little enthusiasm for Incarna, EVE Gate, and other recent projects, and CCP's response has been to try to force players to use them.

CCP has clearly changed his objectives. I can only guess its new objective : to launch a new AUR-based economy.

Reinvent game. Slow-but-steady income killed in favor of quick-grab P2W. $ony buys out CCP and gets their own quick-cash infusion until the next big hit (Dust/WoD). Support then pulled for initial cash-cow which was considered an acceptable loss since all developers can now stop working with ancient coding/architecture/hardware and be devoted reassigned to the new cash-cows.

make the storeBPC only!

This is how it should work.

I have a list of items in the store all of them are bpc's (each bpc has 5 runs on it)

lets say this time i pick monocole so i drop $60 bones and get the bpc...

i then have a list of ruff materials that i need to make the awesome monocles...

so i jump in my hauler go over the the planet and start making the base materials i need...

once i have the materials i then go back to the station and open industry and start a run cycle to construct the monocles...

I can then sell this item on contract or market or my store(when i get one) for ISK...

Do MT this way and i dont think people will have a problem with it...

make the arum store BPC onlyTwisted EvilTwisted EvilTwisted Evil

Personally i would want my store to be a "west cost choppers" where i install awesome engine trails and paint jobs...

remember you dont have to use real money to do any of this you can still buy plex for isk...

That plex comes from realy mony fool.

Aurum purcheses circumvent the player economy. Where as plex before you still had to use the player economy to get isk or mods.

It removes all other players from the equation that made even work in the first place.

EVE online was free money for them in many ways. Cause we would stick with it since we had a lot of control in the sandbox. They now plan to take out all the sand in the sandbox.

gavult... yes someone has to purchase the plex for RL money... but this has been going on for 2 years now!!!

if you dont want to spend RL money you dont have too!!! just spend isk! to buy plex to buy arum...

i want to see arum for BPC only!!!

that way i spend 1.4 billion isk on the monocole bpc which has 5 runs... i can then sell the monocole for isk on the market for one billion each! now i just made 3.6 billion isk... and now there are lots of plexes being sold which will lower thier cost and increase my profits!!!!

I occasionally have time to mission, so making enough ISK to buy PLEX and monocles is an impossibility. If pay-to-win really is the future of this game then PvP becomes very difficult unless you are rich in game, which I am not. I play the game for the PvP, so I guess the game would not be appealing any longer as I would constantly lose to richer players.

There is a class society lesson in there somewhere...

Well, I'm sure CCP have some pretty good metrics on just how much load their sol servers can handle now :)

I know if I was a dev, I'd have gone into the office over the weekend just to watch the software's performance under this load. And the forums held up pretty well too! What if this was all just carefully crafted by CCP to give their servers a trial by fire?

So CSM is off to Iceland soon. Hopefully we'll get some kind of roadmap, statement of values or some such nonsense where CCP can tell us where they're going to draw the line on what constitutes "vanity items only".

And who knows, perhaps there are enough folks playing EVE who enjoy World of Tanks that we'll eventually have players demanding that NeX provide blueprints for higher quality ammunition?

1. we want ship-spin option instead of CQ.

I do not agree that this is entirely true. I am certain that i am not the only one that actually enjoys the new CQ and the promises it brings for face to face interaction between characters. I do agree that ship spin would be cool but in the grand scheme of things that would be just as cosmetic as CQ from the players end and just add more code to the game that really isn't necessary when dealing with movements in space. I do, however agree wholeheartedly that there are some serious video performance issues that need to be addressed to get CQ and its decendents to a functional level for all players. I do not have any major performance issues until I start running multiple accounts on the same machine but not everyone has the resources to build a machine like I did. Something to be addressed.

Thanks,

Kelt

(CCPZ's response is) ..2 days late and a few bucks short imo. The gag order over the past few days did more damage than the MT problem itself. I respect CCPZ's response, it shows he is human, but you know so are we.

Therefore we have asked the CSM to join us in Iceland for an extraordinary meeting June 30th and July 1st to discuss the events of past week, to help us define and address the real underlying concerns, and to assist us in defining and iterating on our virtual goods strategy. The result of this meeting should be mutual agreement of how virtual goods and services will evolve in EVE.

Why wasn't this done before rollout? Isn't this the tail wagging the dog?

I am sure someone will. I felt totally humbled by how many people popped their head in. I know CCP Fallout had seen it. We had several members of the CSM come by. We also had some Eve Radio DJs.

All in all, I think the numbers were somewhere around 90k viewers for the 3 days. The highest peak we had was 2k viewers on Friday. Completely amazing stuff. I hope to see everyone out and about in Eve (as long as CCP doesn't screw this one up)

My accounts will stay unsubbed until I hear good news from the CSM.
