Dear concerned citizens of New Eden

...

Pricing structure

People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don't need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don't need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.

...

Thanks,

Arnar Hrafn Gylfason

Senior Producer of EVE Online

$50 for jeans? You are being robbed. I work in the cattle industry in Texas. This industry lives in jeans. From millionaire ranchers to the CEOs of the technology companies that keep them running herds smoothly. From salesman to cowboys. If you spend $50 on jeans its because you intended to buy the flame resistant work jeans. But then suddenly that makes a bit of sense considering the content of this thread. Now if you are spending $1000 for jeans well... I have few pair I will sell you.

I can understand the angst a lot of players and long term members are having. I am a newer player and only have about 4.5m SP. I dont intend to leave though. I want to fly HAC's, BS's, Carriers and Dreadnoughts one day. This is the only game I know of that allows people that simply paid earlier to have more access to skills than a newer player even if the newer player is better in skills.

So, for all you people that are un-subing and cancelling outright... Please send your stuff over to: DESMOND BISHOP. Laughing This is a game and unforunately CCP feels they can make more money going MT than the way it is now. Do I think its right? NO... I would be perfectly fine with the way things have been. BUT, if I can fly HAC's tomorrow, it would be hard for me to say no to some kind of SP accelerator. Would I buy ships or ammo? HELL PEOPLE, you can do that now! Sites like Blink (blink or Cogdev) allow you to win isk, ships and faction items for GTC (which is just really PLEX). OR people can just buy PLEX and buy whatever items they want now. It will be interesting what happens though.

Dont forget though... DESMOND BISHOP if you plan on leaving for good. I'll make sure to take care of it. Very Happy

Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable. The arrogance of CCP staff is absolutely astonishing. To take over the game that is fundamentally built on trust between developers and playerbase and then routinely, systematically destroy this trust, all the while patting themselves on the back...

Suffice it to say that EvE as a game is over, and soon will be CCP as a company. No-one recovers from that mixture of arrogance and incompetence. No-one. All of CCP fully deserve what about to happen to them.

BOTH ACCOUNTS CANCELLED

Lies, lies and more lies.

Deceit, arrogance and ignorance, from one reply to the next.

We were lied to, again and again, and we were milked for all we were worth.

They told us bare faced lies about not introducing MT, then when they did, they said it was only going to for "vanity" issues, and then their next move was to try to sneak in a SCORPION for cash, with the excuse "but it’s only for a trial week!!!"

We rage and we scream about the betrayal, and finally Pann shows up and demonstrates her complete ignorance by assuming that the cost of their worthless dross was the issue!!!

"But no" says Manifest, "that was just a misunderstanding. Pann and everyone KNOWS what your issues are, and we'll be getting important people to answer soon."

And along comes Zulu.

And what does Zulu have to say???

NOTHING

So now YOU lied Manifest.

Zulu,

I just read your 'devblog' if you can call it that. Your utter distaste and contempt for your customers is staggering to say the least. Based on your dev blog I've got 2 points here...

#1. Fearless Leak... in your dev blog you deny it, but in this very topic another CCP confirms it to be true. So is the guy who is confirming it lying or are you lying? Either way it doesn't really matter, nobody trusts a ****ing thing anyone from CCP has to say anymore.

#2. $1000 Pants... Who in their right mind pays 1,000 dollars for pants? Hell I have several pairs of perry ellis designer slacks that generally retail for $250 a pair... thank god for ROSS and the great discounts they give you. You show me a man who wears $1000 dollar pants and I'll show you the future of eve.

Continue in the way that you are going with the lies and deciept of your customers and you will see a dramatic decline of your active accounts (all 6 of mine are already un-subbed) which will follow in more damage control by CCP. So perhaps what you need to think about doing to further **** us off is get rid of wormholes, get rid of the isk market, get rid of the undock button, and get rid of everything that this game has stood for since its inception and I'll promise you one thing.

What you will be left with is perhaps your true vision of the game, to have those guys who wear $1000 pants to pay you 15 a month to do little more than sit in a station and spend more money with you. Sounds like a win-win situation to me if you do those things.... win 1: we all leave eve and find a game that the makers arent complete ****ing idiots twacked out of their minds. win 2: we watch the inevitable demise of not only eve but ccp as a whole on the evening news at 9. either way you have it ccp, YOU LOSE in this.... There is no winning for you, there is no back-tracking to figure **** out the damage is done and we as your paying customers are OUTRAGED at everything you have said (or lack there of), done and portrayed yourselves and this game to be.

I for one wish it were different, I loved the game for years I really did. But if you think the dev blog you have posted has any merit or answers any questions TRUTHFULLY then you are as dilusional and jaded as the people who actually like what you guys have done let alone the people who have already purchased items from the new vanity store.

When and where does this end CCP? We have been angry with you for a long time and we will continue to be angry with you if you deliberately choose to **** up EvE and try to alienate your customers. Read the 4500+ posts on this thread and you will see two things very clearly. While yes we want to know why we've been lied to (the leaked ccp document) and we do have questions about the AUR store thingy (its not important enough to remember what its called) but our questions dont revolve around the PRICE -- its whether or not you plan on implementing game-changing-advantage-giving items into the store. Thats what many people want to know, because if you charge for an advantage then I promise you will lose A LOT of customers... Charging for faction standing? Cool -- you lose customers there too, why run missions anymore if the mission runners could just pay for their standing and have nothing to do... ahh just get rid of missions all together its okay...

There are plenty of other issues surrounding this latest patch and its not a ****-storm closely 'related to the release of incarna' this is the **** storm BECAUSE you released incarna get it straight. Now we demand the answers we were promised and what we need to hear from you next is a question by question post in a stickied and locked to posting thread so that we can truely and once and for all see the mentallity that makes up CCP so many people can then truely decide whether or not to give you a 10th chance.

SAY NO SAY NO SAY NO.

I paid for my accounts for 4 years to get what I have. I have never unsubbed (besides being broke for a week or two here and there) because I love this game. I love EvE, I play because its INTERNET SPACESHIPS AND I CAN FLY SPACESHIPS AND SHOOT OTHER SPACESHIPS. But any game changers like remaps sp skills ships... I will quit and I have a sneaking suspicion my life will be better overall for it.

I don't want barbies, if you put them there I will deal with it, BUT, if you let people buy what I never could for RL money, of which i spend MORE THAN ENOUGH OF ALREADY ON THIS GAME, this is where I draw the line.

NO MICRO T

SAY NO

I have already unsubbed 1 account... more will follow if CCP does not sort itself out.

CCP. oh ccp. ive been here for years n years. this game has been my favorite. but that noble shop is crap to be honest. too costley and a rip off. and you shouldnt have to raise the costs of the game for any form of content. we have stuck around because for the most pary you have done alright. Captain quarters is nice and fun start o w/e ideas ur going for, but if it means ur gonna turn this game into a p2p/f2p cash shop p2w type game then i shall leave and so will mostly likely most of your playerbase. CCP, please remember WE MADE YOU AND WE CAN END YOU. Your players word of mouth got so many into this game and we can pack up and leave as fast as we came. So best start listening to us instead of ignoring us or else. Now as for input on your new content, scaning has been faster and captains quarters is nice but lacks things to do in them. and you walk like your a robot with no jump function or *real* ability to fully move around. But your cash shop we wont let down no matter what ya do. Plex's for subs great idea, but dont take it further then that, we arent rich here. we come here for fun, not a second job or to fork over a paycheck to ya as ill tell ya times are rough in all countries and we wont do it anymore. You have a chance to fix things and get back on track where u once were, suggest ya take it and listen to you customers. Have a nice day.

Okay, time for my tuppence worth.

EvE is just another MMO, one of several I play and have played going back years, decades if you count text based MUD's. In fact I've only just got out of hospital with a major pulmonary embolism caused by sitting playing too many games so EvE going bust is a health win for me!

The first time I played and realised that CPP appear to profit by you being griefed and podded and by them selling you Plex to replace ships and fittings I saw all this coming. So this will not be a rant or a troll or a rage quit post, because I simply don't care enough about the GAME.

However, my friend is - was - a long time player of the game and she is upset by all this ****. That I do care about.

Equally it irritates me on a professional level when a company does a major dump on it's customers, then sits back and pretends nothing has happened, then sends a complete muppet like this CPP Zulu to give a big FU to an already clearly enraged player base.

Here's an eye opener for y'all:

http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/CCP-Games-Reviews-E159347.htm

This is what current and past programmers and development staff have to say about CPP:
Quote:

The lack of professionalism is mind blowing.

Fun game play is not a priority, promises made to investors and aesthetics are. ‘If it looks good then it is good’ is an often heard motto. CCP is committed to use technology in EVE as well as WoD and DUST, so certain features are made and used in EVE knowing they will not be fun, nor fit EVE and no one expects them to be appreciated by the playerbase. Alienating the playerbase of EVE further. Objections from employees who point this out are waved away.

Several years now CCP has predicted insane subscriber goals that cannot be met. Naturally this is met with scepticism by the employees but it falls on deaf ears. The result is that the company is suffering because we cannot sustain the development of EVE, DUST and WOD. EVE is not creating enough revenue which means that solutions are sought, solutions that CCP was vehemently against a few years ago.

Advice to Senior Management
Clean up house, put some proper processes and communication structures in place, listen to your staff and customers instead of running off with hare-brained ideas.

CCP struggles severely with internal and external communications.
Vertical communication is virtually impossible as it is severely frowned upon.

Advice to Senior Management
Knowledge may be power, but keeping information from your employees only serves to weaken the company.

The lack of communication and transparency can be quite frustrating. Managers tend to hide things from the staff and are more reactive than proactive. The company has asked for trust yet has done nothing but hide facts and information from the staff to create a level of distrust and anxiety never seen before.

THAT'S HOW THEY TREAT THE STAFF - You think they care any more about the players ?

Anyway, so, after well over 200 pages of rants, flames, trolls and rage quits CPP finally DO NOT ANSWER!

Actually, Ignoring all the idiotic comparisons to $1,000 jeans Arnar Hrafn Gylfason DID answer. He said, and I quote:

"We will gradually introduce items at other price points, definitely lower and probably higher than what‘s in the store today."

He's told you right there - I - we don't give a **** about you lot, we don't care about your tantrums, we ARE doing this, get over it, MT is our way forward.

So, neither do I care. In solidarity with my friend and with all the others leaving I am cancelling my account when the subscription ends next month and never returning. Nor will I ever play any game by this company.

Is that message clear enough ?

a) Why microtransactions?
Greed is bad!

b) When will we get a serious eve content related expansion again?
FFS, make regions unique (regarding everything in any region!), give us new ships and guns, get rid of the painful dominion sov system or make one of these awesome proposal out there a reality and even if you don't like one of that be f*cking innovative and creative. EVE IS / WAS / HAS TO BE PEWPEW!

c) When will you make Incarna optional?
Hint: The answer of this question is not 42.

d) When will you stop messing with 3rd party devs?
Incredible that I have to ask this question.

Really? The fact that some people think $1000 jeans are cool is supposed to justify the prices of the NEX? If someone tells me they wear $1000 jeans I have the same opinion as if they buy and $70 space pixel monocle. And that is that they have more money than brains. Get some Levis in the store and I may think about parting with my money. Maybe its an Iceland economy thing (we hear how expensive stuff is from fanfest attendees)and your cost of living has you blinded to prices in the rest of the world. I don't know anyone who where $1000 jeans. If that's who you want to cater to fine, but I think you'll find selling 25 pairs of Levis at $50 a pair will net you more than selling one pair of OMGsupercoolthesemakemyasslookhawt jeans for $1000. Faction fit BS's are a much better and useful display of bling if your into that. And you get to watch stuff explode with them to.

Oh, the whole CQ being optional and bringing perfectly functional for all other things computers to their knees was totally not addressed by Zulu's blog. If CQ becomes mandatory I will be forced to shed alt accounts because I wont have comps to run them on. If only I didn't spend all my money on $10,000 watches I might be able to afford a better puter.Confused

A bit unrelated to the topic, but still has a connection.

If u look at the test server feedback forum threads u can find a lot of useful info on how could u have impruved incarna. But no response from the devs on important questions about it.

U haven't even replied to those who have helped testing incarna!

And when i first went to the test server feedback forums i was shocked that there is no notes on the test builds that are deployed on sisi... How are we supposed to test it and give proper feedback to u if no info is avalible to us about what we are testing, what has changed and so on...

U have to communicate on those forums too, at least the test builds notes should be there!!!!!!!
And if u listened to us on those forums some of this cr*p would have been avoidable...

I'm probably stating nothing new here, but any successful product must take onboard the key points that the customer sees as Critical To Quality and as defined by the customer.

Given the furor amongst the EVE community and that insulting Dev Blog, this really is time for CCP to take stock of what their customers are saying and not take them for granted.

CCP, it's time to eat some humble pie and I'm talking about so much pie that you could fill ten Charons and still have more pie spilling out of them stations.

Has anyone suggested an electronic petition? There's 300,000+ accounts. Would be interesting to see what numbers could be pulled together for that.

Now about microtransactions, I am not against them per se. Champions online taught me that they are fine when done right.

Champions Online is a fundamentally different game in that it's essentially PvE and co-operative.

Eve on the other hand is at its heart a competitive PvP game.

..where players produce ingame items. People for some reason compare EVE production to other games "professions". Not very accurate, especially since in many games those items are indestructible. Whole economy in EVE relies on production. Magically conjuring up MT-items out of nothing really breaks the whole game, no matter on what scale it is.

That has been mentioned several times in here, but people keep forgetting and/or not understanding, so it has to be repeated.
