No to any microtransaction that is not purely vanity related.

The second you turn a beautiful sandbox into a pay-to-win browser game - I'm effin out of here.

Been here since March of 2006, and love it. Don't commit suicide like this CCP.

Leaving game due to CCP choosing the mighty dollar over its loyal sub base: 25.6.2011 (Waiting for CCP's response)
All supplemental alt accounts also being shredded:4 It is clear that mining to make money in this game will no longer be possible once CCP is selling non-player generated items that are coveted over what my fellow miners and manufacutres are making now. With a heavy heart me accounts are now circling the drain. I think i will go play a game where its possible to honestly play by the rules and win by playing it best. I am thinking WoW, Maybe.

P.S. CCP you have 24 hours.

My favourite piece ever:

"Kristoffer is a driving force in CCP's Game Design department. The vast majority of his free time is spent buying dresses for his characters in Leage of Lengends and ready authentic japanses mange comic books"

Kris sounds like a cross dressing homo with a lolita complex... just saying :P

Cool Pic. But I think the poster should read, "I find your lack of win disturbing. The Fail is strong in you."

It most certainly is strong in CCP recently.

Ok, me an my friends/acquintences have all agreed not to complain about eve. Unless MT starts affecting the game, if that happens we all agreed that thats the end. Thats around a hundred less subscribers. If you wish, jack up the prices monthly. Whatever, just don't introduce MT where you can get an advantage that isk cannot give you by itselfWink Custom paintjobs, custom clothes. Bring it on, we are all for that part. However, micro transaction that affects the game in more then a visual way is a turnoff. If you read ccp thanks:) Hf fun spiralling this game into the next stageShocked

Should you stay or should you go...

I have been here a while, I remember t20. I remember the reason for starting the CSM. There is no doubt that selling valuable items through MT has the potential for making significant money for CCP, and I understand how a company would desire to pursue that. Ironically enough I'm one of those in position to take advantage of the MT market. Real money for unbeatable ships or t3 ammo or even extra skill points certainly wouldn't break me. But I know it's wrong. It destroys the "sandbox" concept that eve has valued for so long. It cheapens the game.

It is very disturbing that anyone who works on this game could even contemplate such a game destroying feature. It does not 'cross the line' it leaps over it. Eve is based on you taking what you want and fighting to keep it, everyone starts the same and goes from there. Giving players the option of buying what they want devalues the cornerstone of the game. That's why it is so wrong for eve. I always thought the biggest fans of eve were the devs who loved and cared about this game, I see now that isn't the case, at least for some.

I blog won't fix this, neither will any grandiose promises. PR won't stop this, perhaps even Helmar can't stop this. I am not upset about the system demands of CQ, and believe in the vision of increasing player immersion. When CCP shared their vision of a total sifi MMO, I cheered. Could CQ have been implemented better, sure. Could some the players ideas be included to improve the expansion, sure. Do I believe that CQ is a bold leap forward, yes and I applaud the effort.

But allowing out of game advantages to spill over into the game is 180 out from the sandbox concept eve has prided itself on. It is so wrong on every level, and the fact that anyone involved in the development of this game fails to see that is truly frightening. I am not ready to rage quit, I am not threatening. MT for in game advantages is NOT in place yet, and hopefully never will be. If/when it becomes a reality, I will have some hard choices to make. I truly hope CCP never asks me to make that decision.

Well said.

but to quote another thread..

This is why CCP is in fact over regardless of any action they take save sacking the whole team.

CCP MIGHT get the message if no one who really PLAYS the game is buying any of this stuff

I still maintian novelty items are fine, it's AUR for items affecting gameplay I have an issue with. The way I see it novelty items will help gain CCP more money... I have no issue with that if
1)people are stupid enough to buy them
2)it means more resource for CCP to spend on eve

Although I would like the vanity items to appear in pod wrecks when people die (and they lose them obviously)

They are not spending the money on EVE though. If you had read the leak you would see that EVE is just a cashcow to fund WoD.

I disagree with Micro-transactions. Despite it being for vanity items at the moment, who knows what it will lead on to; ships, modules etc. Players shouldn't be given an advantage over other players by spending real money on in-game items.

It's in the second dropdown menu -- but only if you're on a recurring payment method, if you're not, then you can't "cancel" as such - all you can do is let your money run out....

There is so much I want to say, but in the end, I'm not raging, I'm not ****ed. I was a little amazed when I first learned the Greed is Good Newsletter was an actually company circulated document, then I sat down and actually read it and saw it for what it is, which is exactly what Mittens said above me.

Shameless requoting, but that's the whole point, it isn't just the innocent "for the sake of argument" pro-con discussion. Read the whole newsletter thoroughly, it's pretty obvious where they want to go with this. They even say it literally, allow me to quote p.11; "On the opposite end of the scale to vanity items are performance based items such as weapons. They are consumed through gameplay,..." "Selling them though, is highly controversial. We are planning on doing so." Can it be more clear?

Not only does it go against what was said/promised before, the predominant view in there is that they want to take these M(i/a)cro-transactions to a whole new level, one which inevitably (no matter how it'll be implemented) contradicts what Eve is all about.

Why are you comparing parts from the section about Dust514 with EVE?

They stated at E3 that Dust will be fully controlled by MTs.

See, I did read it thoroughly.

I've not played in a while, a long while. I decided to update the client today and try out Incarna, what a ****ing disaster. Slower and less functional than the old hanger, but more eye candy.

Then I saw this thread. Hah! and I though Incarna would get me playing again, it may well break the game for everyone. I can only post here because I've reactivated my main account for 4 hours. Wonder if we'll get a response before midnight, I hear someone is writing a dev blog. To be honest, it will have to come from Hilmar to make a difference at this stage.

Good thing there's another space game coming out.
You know...

Star Wars.

I bet BioWare is ROLLING right now at this catastrophe. I'll bet many of us SciFi fans that mocked Star Wars: TOR just a week ago are now going, "well... huh, can't be worse than this, right?"

I dont think Micro Transactions will help EVE.

I think CCP has underestimated the intelligence of thier player base, this is not Blizzards WOW, this game has always been fundamentaly more intelligent, more risky and more complex.

Suggest CCP look to respond correctly to this thread, or the golden goose may just fly away.

.

For those who don't understand.. The Jita Protest only began after CCP failed to show up to their own Parley. It is our way of reaching past the forums (which are easily ignored as they are proving right now) and into the game itself. This is a protest, and it is doing what a protest does, it inconveniences the people that we are trying to get the attention of.

When CCP responds effectively, I will log off both my characters from Jita and see what CCP has to say.
