I still maintian novelty items are fine, it's AUR for items affecting gameplay I have an issue with. The way I see it novelty items will help gain CCP more money... I have no issue with that if
1)people are stupid enough to buy them
2)it means more resource for CCP to spend on eve

Although I would like the vanity items to appear in pod wrecks when people die (and they lose them obviously)

As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Noble Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the Captainís Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna. I would appreciate it if you would confirm my observations or tell me what Iím missing, but I do ask that you do it in a productive way.

Not to deflect the heat but to explain why what I'm about to say, I wasn't involved with writing it. The only reason I mention that is because I am not going to presume to know the minds of the people who did have comments in there. I am not going to throw people I love under the bus or to the lions or whatever. I can't/won't answer questions about what they said or why they said it.

Our newsletters are written as a means to bring about discussion (that sometimes can even become heated debate) among our coworkers. That's really all I can say about it. I am not a game designer. I'm a mouthpiece. I'll admit it. By the time I get involved, the decisions have been made. Not making excuses for myself, just explaining.

Very quickly scanned a few posts here, and a big grief people have is load on your computer, which im assuming means your all running 386's back from the feking 1990's.... BUY A NEW COMPUTER if your a gamer, and dont ask a buisness who is joining the 20th century with graphics to stay in the dark ages jsut because your a cheap ass! If the game didnt upgrade and start looking better as other games progress they would slowly loose custom and the game would die, you'd jsut have the few cheapasses left who cannot stay up to date with new games!

The price of aurum is high... is someone holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy it?! I mean cmon its decorative. GROW UP PEOPLE!

The grief about the captains quaters.... WTF is wrong with it? Its a STEP towards walking in stations. Would you enter a marathon before you could walk?!

Use common sense people Rolling Eyes

PDF ->

I run 3 toons on 2 computers, one a quad core that seems to handle the load decently but still has issues and a dual core that seems to struggle quite a bit and this is with one character running. I whiped my computers in decenber and reinstalled the operating system and have kept the registries and what not clean of crap. In reality an old 386 dx2 40 (which was the first computer i ever built back in the early 90's would not run eve. so lets not exagerate it) I love the game and I am a disabled veteran who lives on a very limited income. I don't have the real life cash to go out and buy the coolest hottest gaming computer in the land so i build what i can and upgrade when i can. In today's economy i am probably better than most which is scary. There are many who have no job and are facing dire circumstances and extreme financial struggle and this is their escape from reality and sense of sanity even if it is virtual. Now for some its easy to scream what are you whining about and for others it is all they can do to express their anger with forceful words and beat up on CCP.

The real point I am trying to get at is that the majority of the population are struggling in one way or another to keep playing a game that they really enjoy. This particular release, while sounding cool in theory had some negative affects for quite a few of the underprivelaged in society. Plex markets went through the roof for items that were too expensive an purchasable only by means of real world cash. This excluded a decent portion of people. The system tax on running the game also increased significantly for no other reason other than to walk around in a captains quarters. I miss the days already of spinning my ship around in a station and getting dizzy when i was thinking of what to do next. New turrets and affects are actually cool, but at what point did this increase the cpu load and was it really needed when there are other problems that have been around for quite a while that really needed adressing first.

A simple we messed up big time and we promise to make it right followed up by action to make it right would be good enough for me. CCP will learn from this and we will all learn from this some how as well. Keep voicing your discontent or happiness but please do so in a constructive manner that does not single out a particular group of people within our community that enjoy the game for one reason or the other yet do not have the resources to keep up with having the latest and greatest of everything so suck it up. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

CCP is following Activision's/Valve's business model. I'm pretty new to this game myself and was just getting "into" it but I've just canceled my account. It's a shame that most good developers go down this road and wind up as ****. Evil or Very Mad

TLDR: The effect Incarna has on my GPU fan is annoying enough for me to disable Incarna.

My problem is the definition of "ok performance". Incarna run's fine for me, but it maxes out my GPU - causing the fan to crank right up. It's a 5870 Vapor-X, which is one of the quieter cards you can get, I'm used to it being silent when playing EVE.

I'm late to the threadnaught because I was out drinking last night and then sleeping it off. Whoops.

Points:

*Making martyrs out of Helicity and Liang is an act of comic incompetence, mid-PR-disaster.

*Greed is Good is a typical example of CCP's absolutely awful messaging. The contents itself are fairly innocuous; the one guy mentioning selling ammo is just some mook, not a producer of consequence. All the same, they might as well have had an internal newsletter called "I WANT TO **** MY CUSTOMERS" as far as the messaging impact is concerned.

The timing of GiG leaking with the NeX opening is masterful on the part of the leakers and awful for CCP.

*I don't care about NeX prices. They can charge hundreds of dollars for sparkleponies and monocles and I don't give a rat's ass - I'm here for the spaceships.

My concerns are keeping microtransactions away from the combat gameplay and fighting for balance and an improved spaceship-on-spaceship experience. Lag, supercapital imbalance, iterative ship balance, all of these things matter far more to me than a store with clothes for a space barbie.

Blimey, I never thought I'd agree with Mittens, but this man speaks truth!

The current MT/NEX situation doesn't make me angry. It's just not very interesting. Maybe it will be interesting when pilots can interact with each other. The high cost of items is weird but harmless; it doesn't matter whether I'm not paying $60 or not paying $2. I think it's a viable idea that just needs to be tuned. MT for purely vanity items is harmless, has worked fine in other games, and will work for EVE. I know other players disagree with me on that, but I'm confident the economy and players can adapt and keep EVE fun.

The potential for MT selling gameplay items does make me angry, for all the reasons others have cited. Please don't pursue this. It was one thing for CCP to become gold-sellers with PLEX, but at least every ISK was generated by player activity. Spawning gameplay items for cash will make EVE into a game I won't recognize. I make plenty of money IRL and could probably buy Death Stars and Silver Bullets or whatnot, but I play EVE because I like the struggle to get ahead in the player-driven economy.

Instead of selling ships outright, consider extending vanity items to ships. Call them intellectual property licenses, the right to apply a paintjob or decal to a ship either once or for a limited time period. I'd probably pay some cash to put a big red stripe down the middle of my Viator, or a giant **** along the length of my Iteron V. It's the same concept as vanity items for pilots, but more relevant to internet spaceships, and if you must have high prices they will make more sense for ships. I know there are technical issues making ship mods difficult, but it has the advantage of not completely destroying the game.

CQ makes me angry too. As cosmetic fluff, CQ is fine, and I understand the need to take incremental steps towards full Walking in Stations and pilot interaction. There is some amazing technology on display, and I look forward to seeing it mature. But as a UI, CQ is terrible. Everything takes more clicks, more time, and more hunting for controls. The high resource load used in CQ would be temporarily acceptable (it's stable on my systems, but noticeably taxing) if turning it off gave us something functional; instead, we get the insulting and useless and ugly doorway.

CQ is also anti-immersive and will be until there is a manual "get out of pod" button. Borkers is an immortal demigod, who spends his eternity plugged into a galactic datastream, directing the industry of multiple worlds towards his personal gratification, and moving fortunes among the stars. His pod is his Heaven. Why is he getting out to watch TV in a gloomy dorm room every time he wants to drop off minerals?

Studies have shown that any time anyone protests at something, on average, there's 23 that quietly cancel/don't buy/don't go back. So if 5% of the Eve subscriber base are actively protesting, that means 115% are ****ed off about this, going by these studies. Of course, that's not possible, so, for margin of error, let's round that down to 100%. CCP are screwed.

CCP, I have one request that will at least (in my opinion) show a step in the right direction.

If you are actually planning to bring your transparency as a company back to where it once was, then it would be in your best interest to post the Greed is Good document to your news feed. Many of us have already seen the document, however there are still many who have not, and if you are serious about bringing about more transparency then stand behind that and put the document out for everyone to see.

You have lost a lot of the trust of your player base and you need to take this first step to true transparency NOW. Responding in this thread is not helping matters.

You need to take action on this ASAP and post the document out in the open (on your news feed for everyone to see), apologize to the community, and issue an official statement from Soundwave and the rest of the management group that micro-transactions will remain purely cosmetic and that you will pursue a more transparent company policy in the future. And most importantly, you must follow through on that statement. If you don't then far less people will forgive you a second time.

You will lose subscriptions over this incident, however you will lose far more if you do not take action and SHOW your community that you are taking a step in the right direction rather than just telling us here.

I have been here a while, I remember t20. I remember the reason for starting the CSM. There is no doubt that selling valuable items through MT has the potential for making significant money for CCP, and I understand how a company would desire to pursue that. Ironically enough I'm one of those in position to take advantage of the MT market. Real money for unbeatable ships or t3 ammo or even extra skill points certainly wouldn't break me. But I know it's wrong. It destroys the "sandbox" concept that eve has valued for so long. It cheapens the game.

It is very disturbing that anyone who works on this game could even contemplate such a game destroying feature. It does not 'cross the line' it leaps over it. Eve is based on you taking what you want and fighting to keep it, everyone starts the same and goes from there. Giving players the option of buying what they want devalues the cornerstone of the game. That's why it is so wrong for eve. I always thought the biggest fans of eve were the devs who loved and cared about this game, I see now that isn't the case, at least for some.

A blog won't fix this, neither will any grandiose promises. PR won't stop this, perhaps even Helmar can't stop this. I am not upset about the system demands of CQ, and believe in the vision of increasing player immersion. When CCP shared their vision of a total sifi MMO, I cheered. Could CQ have been implemented better, sure. Could some the players ideas be included to improve the expansion, sure. Do I believe that CQ is a bold leap forward, yes and I applaud the effort.

But allowing out of game advantages to spill over into the game is 180 out from the sandbox concept eve has prided itself on. It is so wrong on every level, and the fact that anyone involved in the development of this game fails to see that is truly frightening. I am not ready to rage quit, I am not threatening. MT for in game advantages is NOT in place yet, and hopefully never will be. If/when it becomes a reality, I will have some hard choices to make. I truly hope CCP never asks me to make that decision.

Edit - spelling

Ok, me an my friends/acquintences have all agreed not to complain about eve. Unless MT starts affecting the game, if that happens we all agreed that thats the end. Thats around a hundred less subscribers. If you wish, jack up the prices monthly. Whatever, just don't introduce MT where you can get an advantage that isk cannot give you by itselfWink Custom paintjobs, custom clothes. Bring it on, we are all for that part. However, micro transaction that affects the game in more then a visual way is a turnoff. If you read ccp thanks:) Hf fun spiralling this game into the next stageShocked
