For me, the long knives come out if they start trying to mess with the gameplay itself with micros. Gold ammo, ships that are different from existing ships statswise, etc.

In case you did not notice, the topic of the protest is exactly the plan at exactly making this.

This continues to parallel the downfall of SWG.

Anyone remember the Wookie /jump protest?

Did they hide it even more with the new frontend, hoping some poor souls keep paying kind of against their will?

The opposite actually, it's in the game time menu.

Wow, interesting. It used to be "hidden" a bit before: You had to change subscription as there was no option to cancel it straight before....

Did they hide it even more with the new frontend, hoping some poor souls keep paying kind of against their will?

Nice.

It's even easier to find now.... Mouse over "account" drop-down and there's a very, very clear option to "cancel subscription."

CCP - Will you be implementing non-vanity items, i.e. game-changing items such as ships, modules, or boosters, via Micro-Transactions?

If so, well I guess it's time to go then. I'll be waiting.

Anyone who thinks the current active player numbers mean anything are clueless. Consequences of this will show up in weeks/months, not right now.

Thing is days after a new majoy patch the numbers online should be up massively - the fact that they are not should give ccp big cause for concern

CCP
First of all I really hope that, someone high in your company takes the time and energy to read every single post, I think we deserve to be listened to, especially those of us who are calmly and articulately expressing how we feel. If my money is good enough for you to take then my 2nd post should be worth of some attention as well. I was happy to just watch the explosions but then I went and read “greed is good” for myself, and I feel the need to talk.

I am relatively new to eve, but I certainly am not new to MMO’s. I really struggled with your game. I played it and walked away, but I always came back, wanting a challenge. I am your ideal customer : male 20-40 with income, but not hours on end to play your game. I would like to just take a moment to make a few points:

Please please please look at a game called puzzle pirates: it has a form of plex and arum and has been doing the vanity and micro transactions for a long time. I have sunk hundreds if not thousands of dollars for them because they are doing it right. Those who buy the plex are as important as those “sink/spend” the plex.

I have no problem with having really really expensive things in the shop. When you have billions and billions of isk, you stop looking at it as a 70$ monocle, because you didn’t have to spend any RL money to get it or spend any RL money to play the game at all. People will spend the arum if you market it a little better and really think ahead. (see below)
I think anyone with half a brain will actually want there to be a cash shop for vanity items, instead of the alternative. I would much rather the vain fuel your cost of the game rather then an increase in the cost of subscription. I love toll roads, people who use things should pay for them, if I chose not to use it don’t charge me.
Clothes are cool and all but let’s think about some things people would be happier to pay arum for. How about increasing the cost of an in game medal and charging arum? How about purchasing a medal that will show up on my avatar for arum? How about a fee for taking a group portrait in a corp. It would be awesome to see the leadership team all together displayed on an info page (see puzzle pirates). How about a corp able to buy “the blue light special” where all corp. members ships can have cool blue light effects for a week. I love the custom paint job idea. How about a new shuttle that player still manufacture but have to pay a arum fee to create, the industrials will have no problem passing on your vanity tax. And I would be much more likely to buy a 100mil isk shuttle then I would boots. How about paying an arum for a extra cool corp hanger where we can walk around? Perhaps charging increasing prices for extra rooms. Those are just some ideas. Just don’t go overboard.

I have faith you will fix the other technical and lag issues in time. I really look forward to seeing how you handle this little mis adventure. Thanks for reading.

CCP,

You do realize that Gordon Gekko goes to prison at the end of the movie for his whole 'Greed is good' thing right?

Hope I didn't spoil Wall Street for people but needed to point that out. Embarassed

CCP you do realize that if you go through with this, if you even so much as think this is a good idea, we will leave right?

Seriously, the minute you touch gameplay with AURUM, I'm gone.

This ^. I will be unsubbing all 3 of my accounts once MT's affect gameplay. I hope CCP has done the appropriate math to figure out if the revenue brought in from MTs will make up for the loss of subscription fees from half their playerbase.

Mining Lasers - yay
Micro-Transaction items that will render industry less used - boo

Seriously...if people can buy isk with money, and then buy actual game items like ships with money, industry will take a hit. PvP is why industry is so successful in EVE than anywhere else: players build it AND destroy it. By adding in items that circumnavigate the player controls on the market, you destabilize this. Will it break it? possibly. Will it have a negative impact? In my opinion, most definitely.

I guess the Hulk won't be worrying about another Hulkageddon - I won't be here to risk it probably.

They don't. Just like they don't realize that the golden goose dies at the end. And there's no more golden eggs, neither.
