I share the concerns already voiced by many. More than that, I now see a significant risk to the future of this game and potentially CCP (as I dont believe they have any other source of income at this time).

I've previously indicated that the strength of this game was its community, and that community is now wounded. If this isn't dealt with shortly (it would be nice to see a coherent response from CCP), the community will disengage.

I'll close with the following quote from the SWG/NGE article at Massively: http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/a-star-wars-galaxies-history-lesson-from-launch-to-the-nge-5/

When the /quit storm began, it began with the most vocal and committed members of the community. In other words, the key influencers.

Deja vu?

You might be catching up on just how far it's gone.

Whatever their subscriber count says doesn't matter now because their reputation is in free-fall.

edit: long story short. They can do nothing.

I'll be honest here.

I enjoyed CQ for what it is. The opportunity to see my character and be more then a face , or a picture.

Most of the complaints coming in about it are from people who don't like change, and hate the fact that they can no longer spin heir ships about.

Making it optional to appease these people would help, but more so for those that are working with multiple clients.

I have a rather up-to-do-date computer and I've monitored my CPU usage when only using two eve clients while docked. Never before have I seen that much of a jump.

For those that use two or three, or more clients at a time, simply disabling everything as a whole would not fix the main issue.

Secondly, the high prices in the NeX Store are rather ridiculous, but its something to be expected. Now what I really find a problem with is what you have to offer for the price. A pair of boots no one will see for effectively $15 US is ridiculous.

What I find that most people are complaining about the Incarna expansion as a whole is it lac of...addition. It doesn't FEEL like much of an expansion. Or perhaps the buildup was far to high. There was far too much hype. We expected so much more. However, this is partially on our heads, as we speculated up until the very last moment.

In the early concept days of CQ, there was concept art about the current CQ being a "Minmitar" variant.

THATS what I'd like to see. Varying CQ's either based on the station, or the player's race.

Really, this needs to stop.

Hi, everyone

As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market.

Then you are blind, go get us someone else. Rolling Eyes

You have to admit that some people are vexed about the high cost of the monocle... but not because they would buy one at 3/4 the cost.

I think Pann might have mistyped (as she did with Nobel/Noble) and put that instead of NeX/Microtransaction. That's the chief concern atm, and of course there are the other more immediate ones and of course the longer tail concerns that many of you have mentioned here.

"That's the chief concern atm"
No, it is not.
And if that's your perception it continues to highlight the real problem(s).

You, and CCP as a whole, can have no credibility until you address this in significant detail:
http://eve.beyondreality.se/NeXCQResponse.html
"The actual problem is the lie."

There is a lot in that article leading up to, and supporting, that assertion in the summary. It all needs to be addressed.

And not just in this thread (it'll be needle in the haystack lost in this uber-mega-thread) but in a dedicated sticky post.

"the longer tail concerns"
To give some benefit of the doubt, perhaps that phase indicates you do get it, but we get back to that lost in the haystack problem again. And due to my perceptions of how CCP understands and responds to feedback, perceptions created by CCP actions over the last couple of years, until I explicitly see that you get it, I'll assume that you don't.

My only issues with Incarna is that, with my computer, in order to dual box I have to turn it off and from doing so my ship hanger is replaced with a static image of a door with half the functionality that the hanger used to have .... are you serious !!!???

It also greatly ****ess me off that they have the audacity to attempt to squeeze more money out of us whilst providing little to 0 new game content or (more importantly) fixes / rebalance of existing content!!

For the love of god please fix the existing broken bug riddled stuff before creating more broken bug riddled crap!!!

We, the podpilots own EvE, not CCP.

If we leave in measurable numbers in a timefgrame that can be linked directly to bad management decisions made against the player community, then the owner and investor board will pull out to save its money ASAP.

So CCP, only dare to make bad decisions if you do not care.

You are a problem. The art dept will continue working despite our howling here. It is shameful you would pay extra for something that was originally promised as simply an add to the game as part of the expansion. You have too much money and not enough sense in how to use it.

Granted there are alot of us and so few of you. I guess I should remind you that it was you who came to us wanting parley. Our problems with you are on the table, everyone knows what they are, especially you. Why then havent you responded to our concerns in any other way than "oh we are sorry, the game will be the same. plz dont unsubscribe." It seems you are too busy repremanding the forum rage than to make good on your request for parley.

Remember: a discussion requires two parties actively engaged in communication. So far you have sat back and let the rage continue without posting anything with substance.

Yes there are alot of us ... a hell of alot.. but there are only a few questions.. and really only one that needs urgent attention.... How hard is it to answer one question with a yes or no....?null

I don't want to quit eve. It's place where I could enjoy spending my free time and spin ships in stations, it's not like one day a candy factory stops making candy and everyone can go next door. Bring back the fun ccp, do it right and give us back eve online and more, all those dreams you shared at all the fan fests. We're fighting for it why aren't you cpp?

Just canceled subscription to my 3 accounts.
Want them back CCP ?

Step 1) Throw away this whole Aurum/MT s***t.
Step 2) Make CQ optional and/or develop them seriously.
Step 3) Send Soundwave to harvest mushrooms on the top of some of your volcanoes.

Okay, why am I posting in this thread.

Often people talk about the "silent majority" that are on their side and I've decided to leave their ranks. I've played EVE Online for several years now (one of my inactive characters is over 7 years old, I.I.R.C.) and have several accounts that are active on and off as the mood strikes me.

I'm not going to claim to be passionate about EVE or an important member of the community, because, frankly, I'm not. Nevertheless, I DO play, and therefore PAY for EVE Online. Also, I am neither going to throw a hissy fit nor make loads of posts with this or any other characters. CCP can check who they are in the unlikely event it interests them (it shouldn't).

In the past few months/weeks I've seen changes which, at first, seemed crazy and against the spirit, if, regrettably, not my experience of EVE over the years. Never mind whether you like the direction EVE is taking, the ineptitude displayed by the way it has been handled is staggering. Frankly, it surpasses anything I have witnessed since joining. In P.R. terms alone it is a joke, and not a very funny one either.

The, often linked, document at the foot of my post expresses most of my feelings far better than I can, and has my full support.

To CCP: The direction EVE is taking is of no interest to me and will rapidly place it amongst the thousands of other games I don't play. If you are fine with that, I am too. This is your business and it is up to you how you run it. Good luck, it seems you need it.

Hi, everyone

Some of you who have been around for a while may remember me. I was the original community manager for EVE. These days, I oversee the PR and Community teams. While most of what I do happens behind the curtains, I am still aware of whatís going on front and center. I would be lying if I said that whatís happening now didnít make me sad, but Iím not here to ask for your sympathy. To be perfectly honest, Iím here to buy time while we try to sort things out. No sense in lying about it so I'll call a spade a spade.

Itís clear that many of you are <understatement alert> angry </alert>. Thereís a lot happening, things are changing quickly and we havenít been as forthcoming as you were used to in the past. Iím willing to step out front and take a lot of heat for that since I was the one who made the decision to hold off on responding for a while to see if things cooled down once the new wore off.

I was wrong to do that and I apologize. We should have said something much sooner. We should have done more to address your concerns and be forthcoming, even if we werenít going to be able to immediately give you all of the answers you were looking for or the answer your questions in ways that will instantly turn those frowns upside down. To be even more candid, I cannot answer all of your questions, either, but I am working with the people who can to start getting those answers for you. Again, I know weíre doing this past the expiration date of your patience but I hope youíll bear with me.

I know that, with very few exceptions, most of you donít know me from Adam. I havenít earned your trust or respect; therefore I have no right to ask anything of you Ė but I am going to try, anyway. Can I please count on at least some of you to help bring the pitchforks and torches down a few notches?

Like I said, I wonít be able to answer all of your questions tonight, but I promise weíll start getting some info out tomorrow. As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Noble Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the Captainís Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna. I would appreciate it if you would confirm my observations or tell me what Iím missing, but I do ask that you do it in a productive way. I will remove posts without prejudice if they are counterproductive to the conversation I hope to have with you.

If youíve read this much, thanks for staying with me. If you have something to say, Iíd like very much to hear it.

Humbly yours,
~P~

*edited to fix a "doh!" typo

Thank you. FINALLY some response.

PLEASE make Captains Quarters OPTIONAL. I've played eve for 5 years + now and I really want the old station view back. You can keep Captains quarters in of course but please make this optional for players who dont want this.

The rage is over ccp denying it but apparently they've been planning it internally for a while and someone was nice enough to leak that.

Its especially nice when you see things like "saved fittings" moved server side so they can charge us for it. Standings made invisible so no one knows if you bought them, a system for distributing skillpoints added.

I'm late to the threadnaught because I was out drinking last night and then sleeping it off. Whoops.

Points:

*Making martyrs out of Helicity and Liang is an act of comic incompetence, mid-PR-disaster.

*Greed is Good is a typical example of CCP's absolutely awful messaging. The contents itself are fairly innocuous; the one guy mentioning selling ammo is just some mook, not a producer of consequence. All the same, they might as well have had an internal newsletter called "I WANT TO **** MY CUSTOMERS" as far as the messaging impact is concerned.

The timing of GiG leaking with the NeX opening is masterful on the part of the leakers and awful for CCP.

*I don't care about NeX prices. They can charge hundreds of dollars for sparkleponies and monocles and I don't give a rat's ass - I'm here for the spaceships.

My concerns are keeping microtransactions away from the combat gameplay and fighting for balance and an improved spaceship-on-spaceship experience. Lag, supercapital imbalance, iterative ship balance, all of these things matter far more to me than a store with clothes for a space barbie.

One of the latest mistakes about all this, was banning people from the game over their emotional reaction.

Everyone should take a breathe, have a good chat, fix issues and move on.

Banning people will only spice up the debate even more.

I might unsubscribe only for solidarity to those players, who perhaps have been a bit awkward, but we can say the same about CCP on that matter.

As many have said before, the problem is not with NeX prices, the problem is the possibility of being fleeced for items (ammo, ships, etc.) that we are compelled to buy to stay competitive. That would not be cool.

If the problem is cash flow, I believe the majority community would prefer an increase of the monthly fee over compulsory MTs.

PS: That being said, NeX prices are a laugh.
