Well, I will admit the missing pages make me feel somewhat better about the whole situation, but it doesn't change the overall discontent I'm feeling. Still, it's a start, I guess.

So I was on massively and they had a link to the now infamous newsletter, which I thought I had already read on evenews24.

But it said something about "missing pages". This peaked my interest so I downloaded it to compare to the first one. There are actually 20 pages in total in the original. It's pretty much the same thing, it appears the pages themselves were not edited, but pages were removed which dropped the context of the remaining pages. So while I'm still upset at those individuals my anger towards CCP as a whole has diminished.

The most notable line is:

DISCLAIMER: The views put forward in this magazine do not reflect general CCP company policies or decisions and are strictly individual opinions, written by CCPers or about CCPers who feel strongly about these issues. This is confidential internal information. Please respect that every company has its trade secrets and that you are privy to those at CCP.

Though it still upsets me that certain individuals at CCP think as outlined in the PDF, I do feel a little better with that simple paragraph. It definitely opens the door for them to fix it, where before I didn't see a chance in hell of that happening.

Compare them for yourself:
EVENews24.com Version
Original Version

The tldr difference is basically this is just asking people within CCP their opinions on the matter and doesn't actually represent any actual plans. I still want confirmation in writing and signed by the CEO himself before I believe anything that CCP says, but I'm a bit less ragequit-y now.

While this doesn't restore my trust/faith in CCP, it damages what little I had to start with in evenews24. Ok, well, I never actually trusted evenews24 at all, but now I definitely won't ever trust them :P

you could have saved some time by just reading the links in the second post in this thread - CCP Pann has confirmed the newsletter. FFS browse a little before posting.

Does anyone actually produce even mid-end AGP card... I mean really just change your MB for PCI-E x16 with same CPU socket and same memory types.. you spent like 10-20 bugs on it at top and PCI-E graph card for another 20-50 and you are free to go...

Just because someone got different opinion ? Really ??

Well you can try to explain why. Instead of it. It would be actually far more productive.

What is there to explain? i see very very stupid people saying well if they introduced +6 implants for $50 i wouldnt mind, or if they introduce better faction ammo for a small fee i wouldnt mind.. Fact is let ANYTHING into the sandbox that boosts performance and they will eventually add more, better boosts, soon it will be buy skillpoints and then eve dies.

Common sense chap common ****ing sense.

First I want to address what exactly it is that CCP sells. There are two things as I see it.
1. Access to your servers.
2. In game currency.
Up untill the introduction of plex we in the community frowned upon the isk sellers and considered anyone who purchased isk as A worthless scrub. The plex system was represented as A way of combating the outside isk sellers so we accepted it. I contend that it has been A total failure.
Instead of ridding us of Isk sellers It has turned CCP into an isk selling monopoly and introduced microtransactions to the game. CCP has become akin to the lead character in the U.S. TV series "Breaking Bad".
In my opinion the only way CCP can avert this train wreak is to re-embrace thier original vision of A game where players Have to earn thier way via in game effort.

I know I am going to be flamed but here are my recomendations.

1. Eliminate or limit purchase of plex to one per account per month.

2. Make NEX products In station only. player created and let demand set value.

3. Concentrate on providing the best game experience possible instead of on the bottom line.

I believe that if you provide the game we have all loved for these past years and keep improving it you will continue to make good money But if you go down the path your on you will end up losing in the long run.

I'd have to pull some IR tricks to get an average account number, and I'm not feeling like scraping and coding for a day, but every poster having at least between 2 and 3 accounts is a reasonable safe bet (people like Vuk Lau evening out things a bit). So, I would say about 10% of CCP's revenue is at risk right now.

Considering that 95% of the population does not even know a forum exists.. that is damm a lot of representation.

Also the majority of people do not express anything when they feel soemthign is wrong. That does not make things right.

And this is why we all think EVENEWS24 is a peice of ****. They are sensationalist "journalists" who, knowing the owner of the site, did this for the exact reason we see in this thread, and is probably "german giggling" to himself reading everyone one of these threads. The owner of the site should be ashamed of himself.

While i am not condoning the actions and responses by CCP, and am still quite mad about the way they are handling this, the POS site (and not player owned station) should be truly ashamed and his actions as well.

Iwould say the german giggling fool needs to be held just as guilty as CCP at the moment

So they took 24 hours to tell us that the article had been snipped?

I don't buy it...

They SAW the article uploaded here, and it was seen by everyone.

I've lost all faith already.

CCP could have easily taken 24 hours of silence as they made a PDF to try to ease the anger.

All in all, EVE will continue, without me.

Biomass incoming

PS: Besides, if it takes them SO much time to make a spin blog...

FRIENDS! There is a reason for this horrible incident and lack of communication and salesmanship.

CCP Hiring New Chief Marketing Officer

Someone should apply since CSM is obviously bull**** and kill the lies from within.

Was there a Chief Marketing Officer before? Normally Sales & Marketing reports to the CFO - this just proves that CCP new business plan is already being implemented ... or that they realised the current CFO is an incompetent money grabbing coward.

I couldn't help to notice this little snip from the job details:

Quote:

... leading thought innovation in marketing to the point of inspiring development rather than be framed by it.

When marketeers start to make game design decisions, its time to leave the sinking ship.

Happens everywhere: any kind of Art (music, paiting, architecture...etc.) and even other more macro escenes: Politics, Science, Religion and so on.
This greedy behavior, which apparently lies within every human being, yet the Marketing guys are best at it, works the same way the cancer do.

CCP is doomed. EVE was something very special in the sea of WoW clones, but the market is changing and CCP isn't successfully adapting. CCP seem desperate to find other ways of increasing revenue, which seems to suggest that either they're not doing so well financially, or that the people in charge are blindly trying to get on the MT bandwagon. The sad thing is that they don't seem to realise that the EVE community is not your typical MMO community.

+1 This. I had that exact same thought. Either they are in financial trouble or they are just doing dumb stupid crap because everyone else is doing it. Since when has CCP started doing what everyone else is. Last I looked, EVE was the only game that did things differently and that's what made it awesome.

Of course they left things out, they always do. Easier to take things way out of context that way when you only present the parts you want people to see. Misinformation is a powerful tool, especially when you're trying to get more people involved in your asshat campaign. I'm glad some else actually bothered to read it with an objectionable attitude and reasoning. Oh and common sense, that helps too. Then again, lynch mobs are fun I suppose.

A note of caution: in the newsletter, the main EVE-affecting section was obviously written up as a 'For' and 'Against', with Touborg on one side in favour of non-vanity MTs, and Turbefield on the other against them. While I agree it's hugely dissatisfying to think they're actually considering it, there's little point in crucifying all of CCP because one guy was asked to write the 'For' side of an argument in a newsletter - to essentially simply state his own personal opinion.

If they come out and say they want to introduce it, fine, I quit too. But if they come out and say it's just one guy's opinion and there are no plans to implement it, don't be in any way surprised.
