Yeah this isn't exactly going to cool off.. I may not respond for a few hours since I'm late writing my end-term paper, but I will be watching and participating in this thread and many other players like me will keep this alive until CCP responds effectively... I should stress that, "EFFECTIVELY", to what they have said and plan on doing. It least we're no longer getting lame going-no-where responses from them.

We're not cooling down, We'll keep this up till you respond or our current subscriptions expire and you die to us (speaking for whoever the hell wants to back me up on that)

in my view, this seems to be alot more damaging for CCP then the Lulzsec attack (admittedly, not much they could do), and i thought people were annoyed when that happened Smile

On an itouch currently, so I'll keep it short.

CCP, you have immensly dissapointed me. The leaked newsletter shows me a frightening view of your customers. We're not a bunch of golden geese. We're people who have all pu a lot of time and effort into this amazing game of yours. I've always spoken very highly of Eve and CCP to all of my friends. I think I'm up to 7 buddy invites now. You're making a fool of me with your greedy ass-hattery.

I'll be canceling this one and only sub of mine once I get home. I absolutely hate to leave this game I love, but I can't stand to be around while you make a ***** of her. I'll resub if I see a satisfying response to player concerns. But as far as I can tell? You've made up your minds.

And that's a damn shame. Crying or Very sad

Greetings & Salutations,

I accept the apology but cringe at your sidestepping the real issue.

Some of my much bigger concerns are:

* The lack of feedback on "Greed is Good" and the terrible ideas in there
* Turning off the station spinning was pure bad/evil, you cannot explain that
* I buy Plex with $$$, I dont find Incarna nor Incursions worth my money ( except for the Noctics ), I am dissapoint.

Let me be clear:

* I dont care that some machines explode or overheat, I trust you'll fix it
* I dont care that there's bugs, I trust you'll fix those as well
* I could not care less for the existing MT items or their price

Playing EVE costs me money, and I am not getting enough value. Fix it Soon.

T.

Just to add to the threadnought ...

If CCP introduces items that can be purchased which affect in-game abilities or balance directly - including but not limited to ... special combat boosters, special ships, special modules, special implants, training time reductions, or direct purchase of currently available in game items (faction/deadspace/officier loot for example) ... I will join the mass exodus from the game (-2 accts).

(... and no if it comes to that you can't have my stuff ... :) ).

wonder how much of my monthly sub goes to the development to WOD and Dust, two games i dont have any interest in...

So not only do i have to live with a few bugs and other stuf, i also have to live with sponsoring other games for my money...

The werry bad part is that after sony`s "minor trouble" PS3 market are hit werry hard. So i might end up being the one throwing money into something that cant keep it self running...

Eevrything is just azzjuice right now.....

1. How much of CCP is owned by external investors or venture capitalists?

2. How much of this change has been directed by staff that is not primarily focused on game development, for example external financial oversight staff?

3. Is Joseph Gallo indeed setting the strategic direction of CCP, as claimed on his LinkedIn page?

4. Is Joseph Gallo CFO of CCP as part of an investment agreement, formal or informal?

In Eve, just flying a spaceship isn't all there is to the gameplay. The effort to GET that spaceship is part of the game. The fact that it isn't easy to obtain certain things, achieve certain things or do certain things is exactly what makes these things meaningful. Meaningful to me AND to others, who can see what I have achieved. And now some game designer would like to take that away? Bad move CCP.

Dierdra Vaal wrote a very good post, and I feel ashamed for quoting just a small snippet, the full post is worth a read.

But I wanted to comment on this small snippet, because this is an area where almost all MMOs make missteps.

One of the core functionalities of most MMOs is the metric of progress. The concept that everyone starts as nobodies and through trials and adventures progress to something more advanced.
As players we often get this wrong because we need to get it wrong. We often believe our goal is to be more advanced but its not, our real goal is the journey to become more advanced. But we need to believe the end result is what matters, its part of the whole deal of suspending our disbelief.

Many MMO developers get this wrong as well. When we players scream for attention to make the journey easier, we are still in a state of suspended disbelief, we are still into the simulation, the matrix. We may not realize it at the time so we can be very convincing. When developers get this wrong they fail to distinguish our simulation desires from our real desires. We don't want to pay to get a fancy ship, we may think we want to but we don't. In essence we would end up paying for a game that is less fun and less immersive, but it can take a long time to realize the effect.

Some companies probably use these complex mechanics deliberately to milk the cash cow. Hell if the players think they want to buy an advantage, lets sell them one. And I am absolutely certain that can work in a short time span, but they are selling out on the game itself when they do it.

This won't kill the game. Know why? Eventhough it's impressive to have this many posters here, it's but a small fraction of the total subscribers and let me tell you: the majority doesn't give a flying goose about these changes. They'll take it up the rear and suck it up; if it even goes through.

It's only the discontent that feel the need to vent here. With a few exceptions of CCP fanboys, to whom I semi belong to as there's one thing I truely detest and that's blind emo pitchfork rage.

Especially people who ''close their accounts''. They're back in two days tops.

Not true. I have very rarely posted in my seven years ingame, but that doesn't mean I don't read, and it doesn't mean I'm not concerned and I think that goes for many many eve players that don't "live to post on CAOD". I'll only comment that paying for game advantage makes me sick! It's a real game breaker imo.

Firstly, stop thinking this is a small issue associated with Aurum, MT, Captains Quarters and such. While each of those topics is indeed an issue to be debated in their own right, the broader issue is much larger and dwarfs these entirely.

As a long term paying customer, I have seen virtually no progress towards addressing key broken mechanics and unfinshed expansions over the past 2 years! Instead we continue to pay for low value, peripheral expansions that do nothing significant to enhance the game, and only adds more clutter and unfinished content.

All of these concerns were raised by the playerbase in the 18 months thread fiasco if not before then in many cases. Recently you've announced you are just starting to look at 0.0 and other gameplay aspects. So if we look at this as an example, and with your delivery record, I would be surprised to see any meaningful expansion to Eve within the next 1.5 years that goes anywhere near addressing player expectations.

In total, this represents an almost 4 year gap between you listening to and responding to your customers comments and feedback. 4 YEARS!

FOUR YEARS!

It's clear that your focus is on bringing in new players, but without fixing the core mechanics which keeps players here long term, you're just treading water. The vision and creativity which we saw and belived in years ago has long since faded and died. Today even the smallest of fixes is met with cheer given how low everyones expecations have settled (this alone should make you very concerned).

As an example, you could fix the Technetium issue over a single weekend if you actually got off your ass instead of ****ing about discussing how to finance other titles and spending years working on this Incarna disgrace. Get your ****ing priorities straight.

i've written something similar but after a corpmate highlighted that i can just QFT it

CCP get your prioritys right its incredible in what sort of company you've turned over the last months

Daft...

Having multiple accounts doesn't even equate.

No matter how many accounts one person has, the execution within the sandbox is still relevant.

I'll add my voice to this chorus if it helps.

I've played since 2005.

As of Summer 2010, I have been on the fence with my subscriptions(5x). I canceled for a while for a long list of issues (which have been put forward and discussed by the community for a long while), and for the first time checked out other MMOs. EvE was my first and my favorite.

All these problems listed in this thread that have been highlighted are important and should be answered by CCP.

I wrote in threads on the forums that Incarna should be optional. I said we should have a button while docked to exit our pods. But CCP devs did not listen to any of us who were saying that. Or you heard what we said and went forward anyway. Now CCP sees the result. But that is just one issue.

I appreciate that CCP has listened to the community at times. For example, I added a number of thoughts to the Features and Ideas Discussion forum which were incorporated into the game. Not that I was the only voice asking for it. But ship to pod in station was one. Camera shaking during warp became optional. And the lights in the stations were fixed so they didn't blind me everytime I docked by rotating into my face (for the most part). So I know the company listened at those times.

I've watched all the posted vids of the different Fanfests, and I have found the different presentations interesting. As well as the different personalities of the developers. I appreciate the innovation, the intelligence, the hopes of the development team. Though I think that greed... as the internal newsletter calls it has taken its toll on the company/consumer relationship.

Greed is a good thing in a game, in a virtual universe like EvE. Greed is a bad thing in real life. And trying to make it a good thing in real life is just disgusting. Greed is a product of selfishness, which is the single root of all evil.

In observation, I see a cycle that occurs with all companies in a capitalistic system. The company starts small, has big dreams, produces the best product it can with amazing quality. Or the best service. Or the best entertainment.

Then what happens is the company grows, people love what the company offers and throws their cash at the feet of the company in appreciation for the quality, excellent product or service.

Next, the company gets comfortable. And that is the climax of the journey. They have produced something great, then they get comfortable because the cash comes in and they sit back and relish the rewards of their labor. There is happiness, the company is happy, the consumer is happy.

Finally, greed sets in, which beings the downward spiral of said company. The management team, board, and shareholders get complacent, get fat with power and money. Have all the best of life and simply begin not to care anymore. They begin to want to maximize profits at the expense of the consumer. And they begin to not care about the individual anymore that pays them for their product. They are so big they think, so what if we lose a few here and there. We still have all the resources coming in we need.

So the game becomes: Lets get the most money for the least quality. Lets get the most money for the least amount of work. Lets get as much money as possible giving as little as possible in return. That maximizes profits. The corporate machine sacrifices the consumer. Then the corporate machine sacrifices their own employees. The downward spiral continues on.

So how to fix it CCP? I believe you know the answer, and you CCP are the only one who can do it. Remember who you were before greed infected your business.

As for me... I renewed for the 2 month deal. 19.95 for two months worked well for me for five subscriptions. But, I have canceled my subscriptions because its the same old story again... and again... and again.

If you fix all the problems, answer all the questions... I'll come back.

That's a pretty epic writeup from someone who properly understands the game (evidentially moreso than CCP themselves), the situation and CCP's history.

THAT should be in print on CCP's coffee tables!
