As it is expected that CCP will soon announce AUR for skill point allocation packages and as AUR can be bought with ISK what market predictions can be made?

Currently there is a lot of liquid ISK in EVE, a lot of high isk players will be expected to turn this liquid isk into skill points on different characters. New players will also purchase Plex to buy skill point packages as well.

This would mean a lot of new characters getting access to ships and tech, which means there is scope for current investment into tech/modals that you think will be in higher demand.

Are my predictions correct and apart from PLEX where do you think is a good area to invest to catch this market movement?

Im sorry if i seem ignorant, where is it stated in writing (Dev blog?)that CCP will bring this to the table? (Linking a thread in eve general with all those unhappy sorts will not receive any integrity.)

Oh there is no EVE dev blog on this it's purely theoretical but its in no way designed to scare monger or troll. I'm predicting along with many others that CCP will announce AUR for Skill Points and would like to discuss how this will effect the EVE market and how I can profit from investing in these predictions.

The AUR for Skill points may have been leaked by a CCP insider who knows?

Wont happen it will **** off too many players who will instantly quit. Look at the outrage over an overpriced eye piece, imagine something that is completely game changing like that. I bet they will lose a large portion of their players, too much to justify the money they will make implementing it.

I'm a new player with less than 6mil SPs.

I would quit if they implemented something like this.

Just a single point observation obviously. But this kind of thing wouldn't just annoy the vets.

I'll send you an evemail with a link to a document and the corresponding forum post from a CCP employee confirming that it is legit.

Micro transactions are here to stay and might possible include things like buying standings and more!

Yeah they talked about it in internal news letter where they where thinking about the stuff but sorry I think a company should be able to do a discussion about this stuff without being accused of anything.
Discussing something doesnt mean they gonna implement it.

I know a lot of people who play that other MMORPG (You know... The one whose name can't be spoken) who got really p***ed off with the game because they spent a long long time earning skill points to get high level characters. Then the makers changed the whole makeup of the game... as ex-players said, they "dumbed it down" so that even relatively new players could get to very high levels quickly. Experienced players just started leaving the game, because it was ruined.

There are a lot of things in Eve that are being talked about, that in my opinion would ruin the game and I would probably leave the game because of it. It does not suit my style of play and I wouldn't be interested in playing it anymore if they did. These include:

* Making all L4 missions only available in low sec.
* Killing all Ice Fields in High and Low Sec, meaning they are only available in null.
* Making Skill Points available to be purchased.

In effect, this would force many people into low or Null sec, with less profit available to those operating in High Sec.

If those things happen, I would quit Eve.

You already can do that, buy a character from character bazaar. I know many people who just purchased few GTC's and got 20 m sp character as their first one.

Good you mention the bazaar, that will become useless and selling chars impossible.

No selling Chars will still happen its just that now the price of a char will be fixed to the price of a CCP skill package, well maybe people will want used chars for less as they can pay dollars to skill up a brand new never touched char.

the bazaar was only ment to stop private sales,
sp for cash would be great, 15 dollars gets you a month worth of training

Character Bazaar is going to be pretty much redundant now as people would prefer to start a fresh char and buy Skill point packages rather than buy into a char that has a hidden and dirty past, I know I would. Same as buying a brand new car or 2nd hand one. The Bazaar might survive if those character farmers heavily discount their 2nd hand chars.

If they go MT for advantage way they might as well go full throttle. Many other games do that and it works, without forced subscription of course. Laughing

Imagine a bubble around the game of Eve.

Buying PLEX and selling it for ISK moves ISK from one spot in the bubble to another, the totality of the contents of the bubble is not changed.

Buy a character: it moves from one place in the bubble to another.

Buy (instantly applicable) skill points: A high skill character is added to the bubble, created with money.

That's the entire issue of MT: The person with a big credit card gets to add as much as they want into the game.

The only way I see selling SP is if they go into a pool, and they trickle out of that pool into you pilot at the same rate we train right now. Then your monthly subscription would be buying a monthly supply of SP.

Then to make more money, CCP lets you train all 3 alts at once, and with all 3 are using SP from the pool, you buy more.

I agree - even if it were thought about before I think it is now far too controversial and unpopular to be implemented.

But Khanid, what do you think might be implemented? There were other things talked about, such as faction standings (which you can already buy through the RL->PLEX->Data centre route), or fittings slots. Where do you think the line might be drawn?

It is difficult to say, cash for standings was a surprise to me, but I still think having read the suggestion in context that it was just a 'what if' thing rather than an announcement that it was actually going to happen.

I mean let's be perfectly clear, in the same article, the same Dev said something along the lines of 'a pair of sunglasses shouldn't cost the same as a faction battleship' and if anything the monocle actually costs about 1.5 times a pirate faction BS.

So meh... it's hard to say what might happen on the basis of that article as even what was said in that article has subsequently turned out to be different to what has happened.

If cash for SP were to happen, then imo that would be CCP's NGE moment, and a lot of older players would walk permanently and not even bother to rage. It might not kill the game (I know when I was a noob I would have leapt at the chance to buy sp) but the game would fundamentally and permanently change at that point.

I am more than prepared to put my money where my mouth is and put some money with a 3rd party betting it would never happen... if the OP is interested (personally I think the OP is just trying to troll by implication). Any amount the OP puts in I would match up to a figure of say... 5B? Would offer more but a lot of my isk is tied up atm.

As I have said elsewhere I am personally pro MT (micro, not macro), as long as items introduced are destructible and tradeable. I think it would be good for the game (new content) and I think CCP is being short sighted by making the monocle for instance indestructible... it makes (to me) WiS seem as if it is moving to a WoW model, which imo is just terrible.

I am up for super ammo (there was a time when faction ammo could have been called the same), I am up for noobs being able to buy faction revenauts (to pad my kill stats obviously), and I am up for new / better mods etc that are only available through the Noble store - as long as they are tradeable. I mean lets be perfectly clear there are already super mods in game, gist x-types etc that people can buy via plex... does it change anything? No it doesn't.

My key beef with CCP is their communication issues and lack of interactivity with the player base. Since the CSM came along it seems as if CCP has given up trying to communicate with the playerbase at large and just tries to communicate with the CSM.. who can't relay stuff back to us because of their NDA, until CCP actually announces their plans as a firm policy.

Anyway I am sure you get my point, sorry for the wall of text.

If it means revenue to an expanding company (nevermind any incidental, but convenient ISK sink issues) you can bet your last ISK that skills, skillpoints and so forth, in some form, will inevitably be offered as a MT.

To us, it's a game. To the owners of CCP... it's a business.

Be as hypothetical as you like, but it's a business -- and that's pure fact.

That has been your reality check for today. Deal.

OP, CCP has introduced SP for ISK years ago, it it called Character Bazaar. Laughing
Secondly, if ppl whine for 3xPLEX monocle price, I guess CCP pricing of SP will be such that only insane ppl will buy it, like PLEX for 1,000 SP

I expect it to go crazy expensive, 10x more expensive than normal training speed. 5PLEX/1m SP or something like that. Won't be a match for character trading, but it would be "useful" to urgently patch some unexpected skill need. At the end of the day, its use would be anecdotal.

Truthfully, I have no idea what the big problem is. AUR is pretty much difficult and hard to get.
And even if this announcement WAS true, I don't see how it will effect us primarily.

It's not Team Fortress 2 Where they made the whole game free just for microtransactions! And the game you don't pay monthly subscriptions for playing it online. You go to the store and you buy it just like that.

And as for Microtransactions itself, it's not just a way to pool in new players. It's designated to target EVERYONE within the pereimeters of the game for our benefits more or less. Even if it was true, it does not change my outlook or opinion of the game. Just as long as it keeps true to it's initial and original design, being a realistic living breathing sci-fi world where you can forge what you can afford than there's nothing really to complain about.

Agreed. Only way this will work is if the SP/time cost is paid. The cost of which is a cost of another account (15$ a month). Such a package can allow the accumulation of SP with a simultaneous alt.

EVE is a sandbox and it should provide a place for everyone to play, carebears, industrials, pvp. The only thing that keeps the universe fair is that everyone has to put in their time cost for SP. This is the only constant playing field. If they remove that, then I would also quit as well. (So that is one more data point). Other games may do well with this model, but other games do not have players of the same level of sophistication as EVE does.
