Test box: 2009 Mac Pro 17" laptop, 4 Gb RAM, 9600M GT graphics card.
Tyrannis 1.0.2. Performance typically above 30 FPS in space with most settings on high. Nebulae would drop this to 8-10 FPS, but dropping texture quality slightly fixed stuff.
Text focus and chat windows updated predictably. Mac hot-keys like CMD-Q/X/C/V worked correctly.
Tyrannis 1.?. Small performance loss. Text focus sometimes jumps unpredictably. Hot keys broken. Frequent crashes on session change. Icon rendering issues in chat.
Further patches: fewer crashes on session change, minor improvements to hot keys.
Incursion 1.0: Laggy-ness on session change, especially initial character window.
Incursion 1.0.6: Increased choppiness on most session changes, improving within about 2 seconds. Sluggishness rendering large icon lists (such as entering hangar with 400 items in storage).
Incarna: looks almost like a photo slideshow, plays almost like a photo slideshow, reacts to keyboard / mouse interaction almost as well as jabbing grubby fingers onto a photo.
One improvement: far fewer instances of game quitting from display but running invisibly and crippling my system performance.
What I'd like: This machine is well above minimum specs, and up until two days ago was well above recommended specs. Considering that this is a long-term MMO that has been running for many years, it's not unreasonable to expect a much higher degree of legacy compatibility than one would get from a new-release, non-MMO title.
What I want: a "graphics setting template" that I can download and apply to my game that will make it run as smoothly as it did 6 months ago. I'm happy to sacrifice a bit of quality for speed: my brain can easily re-render to fix slightly lower graphics quality. It has a much harder time coping with stuff that jerks, lags, or doesn't respond.
