They prefer 100 ppl who puy $30, providing service to 30 ppl much easier than 1000ppl. also more profitable.

Aura. Sad

I was so happy to hear that Aura was making a comeback. That digital-female sound with which Aura used to speak has to be one of the most well-fitting voice-overs I've ever heard in a game. Somehow CCP took the completely cliché and absolutely nailed it.

Aura of old was absolutely awesome. :( She was harsh, artificial, detached... but with a touch of sadness, yet neutrality.

Honestly, listen to this:

The new Aura is just someone with an English accent.

I know I wrote a wall just now about other things; I suppose I was saving the biggest thing until last.

The new plain Aura disappoints me more than anything. Sad

you are right, mate.
old 80/20 rule.
80% of income is generated by 20% of customers... all you have to do is to get rid of
that 80% customers who contribute nothing special.

I have to go with the majority here. It should have been dock into the ship hanger, then chose to disembark into CQ. This makes it optional.

CCP, you basically lied to us and now flat out refuse to talk about it.

They're not going to make CQ optional, at least I hope they don't. If you have to manually click on the CQ feature to enable it, it ruins the whole point of the update (not to mention people would never bother with it).

The contradiction in your logic is hilarious to say the least. If the people would never bother with it, it means there never was any point in that for them to start with. Therefore, there is nothing to ruin.

I, for one, may be bothered - when there will be any content to speak about, that is. I.e., in a year, if you are optimistic.

Why one should be optimistic in the light of development in a recent years - that is another question.

Please add an option to run. I can't take slow movement. :)
Also, it'd be cool to strafe on A and D - i have a mouse to turn my character...
Agent finder is very cool.
Finally seeing myself in 3D is also cool. :)

Didn't read the whole thread....anybody already do this??

Price for 3500 AUR, 20 dollars

Price for a virtual eye thing, 12000 AUR

23 some odd pages full of rage quits and threats of violence...................Pricless. :P

Anyways, I don't much care about the WIS stuff at this point. It's a step towards something possibly cool in the future, right now it adds zero to the game. I'm indifferent on that front.

The only downside to the patch is the resource usage of CQ. I run 3 clients on "optimize for quality" settings. With two of them in the CQ and one in space, I get maybe 20-30 FPS compared to all three at 60 FPS when they're all in space. So, meh whatever.

As has been suggested, having different graphics settings for space vs CQ would make me happy. As it is now, I'm turning CQ off(which thankfully ccp made an option, let's hope it's not temporary).

On Update to another with many many patches between.

My ship can do so much only with one klick.

But when can i get a ship where the computer has enough power to calculate a way around a barrier like an asteriod or a station?
Without crashing against it again and again and again and again and again and again and so on!!!

Maybe we can go some further - and think about the crashing again and again and again and so on without having a distance between the barrier and the ship where otherwise a carrier can pass through.....

I think this is only a wish. Most people i get into eve quit of course of this f****** anoying s***.

But we can walk on stations with a UI where it is impossible to handle it effektiv. So i have to use the old UI on the left side which is overlaying everything incarna stands for.

WHY? Do anyone @ CCP think about that? Or is it like everywhere -> you are the boss - you lead - i follow

regardless

yet another patch that makes me want a reroll back to dominion

first patch sicnei started playing that made me want to cancel my subs since clearly CCP hates its long time customers. welcome to wow space sim online.

as has been said countless times. make it optional. it ruins nothing, if people dont want to use it nothing lost for those who do - currently a clear minority on the forums (gogo ingame poll?) - its still right there ready to be used. CCP has been more and more forceful about players using their content astime goes by regardless of how much people want it or not. This is a bad way to go.

remove aurum from wallet, its not a currency i will use while i can buy half a dozen hacs for the same price as some boots and doesnt deserve that much attention while there are eight items that frankly on the settings i have to run it on to keep my comp from cooking all look pretty much the same anyway.

ill stick to the pod, apparently the running costs are signifigantly cheaper =/

even the blog about the new pc req stated that ccp KNOWS its customers run multiple accounts as a majority, why would they deliberately screw over their majority? most long term players have 2+ accounts and dual box. why do anything to hinder that? do you want people to cancel their subs and go back to a single account?

im still confused as to how something with the graphics of mass effect runs like supreme commander: forged alliance with 30,000 units on field.

You want my feedback? I left it on the test server forums 7-10 days ago. Here it is again, because obviously no one with any common sense read all the feedback on the Sisi forums.

Excerpts from my Sisi Feedback:
One:
On Singularity, it takes me 18-20 seconds to dock into CQ to the point I can do anything useful (for example open hanger or assets).

Same operation on Tranquility takes 6 seconds.

This is an unnecessary, time wasting, useless delay.

FYI, if this goes live like this on the 21st I predict a STRONG dissatisfaction from a MASSIVE amount of your customers.

Two:

The walking interface is very clunky. Other MMORPGs are typically much easier to navigate. You have no strafe keys. Using keys and/or mouse I cannot turn in place without my avatar lurching forward. Character walk is abysmally slow.

There is no First person view, so it is oddly hard to navigate with the non-standard over the shoulder position of the camera. [...]

Three: It just felt weird. Like whoever designed this had never before worked on any game where directed avatar movement is performed. After trying CQ again (first time a few weeks ago felt completely unusable) I am frankly baffled why you just didn't model the camera and avatar movement after the many many mmorpgs out there today (some of which are multiple award winning products). Sometimes things that have become a standard are there for a reason. MMORPG controls are one of them. As a metaphor, let me ask you this: Why would you put a square steering wheel in your porche? Because that's what you've done.

Four: There are other clunky items in design/use of CQ [...]

[...] because of the poor performance of the basic issues I mentioned above, and regardless of how pretty and shiny the video screens and mirror are, I unfortunately have to give you a grade of "D" (below average) on the CQ I have tested today.

----------

[...] From what I've read posted lately it seems they're in denial about the lack of user friendliness in CQ. Wanted to give a friendly opinion without having to file a bunch of useless bug reports, as some of these things are pure design flaws, not bugs. Thus I'm sure the bug reports would come back as 'Working as Intended'.

Been playing these types of games long enough to know what people will complain (and often quit) over.

----------

Strafe key would allow me to step one step to the left to better position myself to see/interact with the UI/items in my cabin, instead of working around it by walking in a circle and moving the camera to do it. Same operation takes far less effort with strafe. I can sidestep in RL, should be able to do it here too. There is no immersion in forcibly having to do things in an unintuitive, cumbersome way.

First person view allows me to actually see all of CQ, not my backside (another thing, the center of view (i.e. where your eyes look from) is too low -- should come out of your head, not the sternum). If I want to see my backside, I should be able to just scroll out with the mouse, then back in to get First Person POV. Simple.

----------

Currently on Sisi, if you switch it off, when you dock you get your normal icons, and a drab dingy flat view of a station wall and door. Pretty ugly. I hope that it's not the final production piece[...] Can't believe it would go live with the current 2d thing in place.

----------

[...] I really DO want to use CQ SOMETIMES. A simple big 'Enter CQ >>>' button above the 'Undock >>>' button would be perfect.

[...] by forcing us to use the checkbox buried in the escape menu to enable/disable CQ (which by the way requires an undock/redock to apply), you've effectively changed my ability to use CQ 'sometimes' to 'almost never'.

What's so hard about making the clear decision to do it right? I can only assume it's internal politics, as the technical ability to add a button is pretty low. It was in there previously for goodness sake. It actually took MORE effort to remove it.

edit:removed initial rude comment

Ok, I wasn't going to say anything because I do like this expansion and what it promises for the future, but CCP, you need to give me one thing:

A faster toggle between the Incarna environment and either the static image or the old hanger view. The current option checkbox is not good enough because I have to undock and redock to use it. I need to be able to leave EVE running in the background without running all of my computer fans at 100%. Whenever I'm docked in station waiting for the fleet to get ready or whatever, it feels like I'm running a chat client which doubles as a computer benchmark.

As a reference, I'm running 2 x GTX 460 SLI and Sandy Bridge.

EDIT: I get great FPS and everything runs smooth, but I should not have to tax my system when I want to run EVE in the background and not make it my focus. I just want a faster way to toggle between the two modes of operation.

Clearing your cache should fix it. Has to do with changing the handedness of the coordinate system.

@someone above complaining that the quarters look gritty and not like a home

That's actually intended. They are generic quarters every capsuleer gets and the design depends on the faction that the station belongs to. Think "dirty motel room". I don't mind that as long as we'll get larger customizable quarters in a later iteration.

Well, that is unless I've to pay as much for them as for my real apartment.

Ok, so i've stared at this main screen in my quarters for a while now, and i'm pretty sure i have seen all it has to show.

Here are some suggestions on how to improve it:

1) Nullsec is a very interesting place, and even though i decided i want nothing to do with it, its still interesting to learn about sovereignty changes. The way you do it here is completely wrong. Maybe show a top down map view of the area, verite influence map style, and zoom in on the area and show the difference in soveriegnty visually. I realize it would be a major pita to try to get that to dynamically generate, but would improve this segment greatly.

2) I like that you show new players, but maybe you should focus on the newest of the new. This provides a great opportunity for those who are interested to maybe try to recruit that player or at least welcome them to the game. Its kinda disappointing that every new capsuleer i've seen was born 4 months ago. Should at least be within the last couple of weeks tops.

3) The general feel i get from watching it for any stretch is that it was rushed and punted out the door as fast as possible. I realize that you have deadlines and really this isnt as important a thing as getting the engine set properly (also, i had some graphical issues for a while. Game crashed and somehow that fixed them) but really the only thing that is remotely interesting in my quarters is that screen. Imo it is the main content. So when i load up incarna for the first time and look around and see that the main screen is basically playing a set of randomly organized loops, i'm kinda disappointed. Maybe you could consider putting together a team, maybe even just one person, to develop content for that screen, maybe give me the opportunity to choose what to display, or maybe put that one person on developing dynamically generating segments, instead of watching the concord logo over and over, or seeing that guy get blown out of his pod over and over.

4) i love how high bounty characters are put up on screen, but i really think this brings up the topic of the bounty system being basically borked. Putting a bounty on someone is a joke, as you're basically giving them that money since they can just logon an alt and kill themselves. Also, i've noticed a couple familiar faces up there, and i think they might have put bounties on themselves just to get on screen. :S

Also, i was kinda put out by the PI interface screen. Seems kinda lame that you would put a thing there for pi and all it really does is open your science and industry panel when clicked on. Could at least show me dynamically generated video of my planet's harvester cycles or whatnot.

So far i'm not very impressed with incarna, but i like where it is going and i can feel the potential humming in my captains quarters.

The ultimate thing i'd like to suggest (and i didnt bother reading any of this thread) is to have the next allaince tournament play on our captain's quarters screens. So we can all dock up (if possible) and sit on our couch, maybe invite 2 friends over, and watch the alliance tournament live. Epic.

24 hours since deployment and ive yet to actually PLAY incarna theanks to the patching process failing and the repair tool... failing..

Uninstalled and re-downloading the client but thanks to my.. ahem... substandard internet connection ive yet to complete the download (im running at a blistering 23.4 Kb/s atm) my fault not CCP, so im not too bothered, it will come when it's ready.

Regardless, all this whining im hearing is pretty funny, "Waah i cant run 16 clients any more. I cant see what ship im in without actually LOOKING, my GPU is running 1 degree hotter" boo hoo cry moar Laughing

I have faith ccp, keep up the good work and ignore the haters.

LOL CCP. What a load of garbage. Good job reinventing the wheel and making it square with CQ. As if there aren't already 100s of shooters and OTS/1st person MMO's which have competent POV, movement and interface design. It took how many years to make something this stupid? Please do us all and yourself a favor-grab some people from the Dust514 Team with design, interface and implementation experience to do this properly. Incarna is a horrible waste of your and your customers' resources and does nothing to enhance Eve gameplay.

Ok, since I now got some actual play time and pew-pew in, here's some more feedback.

CQ are "deactivated", can't say that I've ever seen something as un-immersive as the wall pic you get when you do so, but at least you can go afk without worries and it's faster overall, too.

I really appreciate that you managed to speed up the UI and especially the market UI another notch after that big UI update that came with one of the last Incursion patches. Updating dozens of orders got pretty fast back then, but now with Incarna 1.0 the whole experience is even snappier. Awesome work there!

That's no English accent. It sounds more Nordic to me - like someone trying to sound English. But are you sure the voice actress isn't the same as the original Aura?

Personally I find English accents a little 1995. There's gotta be better accents out there for a computer voice nowadays - CCP when are you going to get an office here in LA??? Sony Pictures is just a few blocks from my office - they can teach you a few things about aesthetics.

1) Performance in CQ is fine on my laptop (ATI Radeon HD4600 mobility, turion64x2, 4GB RAM), and I fully expect it to run silky smooth on my desktop, but won't know until I get back from this deployment at the end of the year.

2) When changing graphics settings while docked, the character model (except for my hair) disappears and doesn't return until I change session.

3) Especially until you improve optimization, the in-space and in-station graphics settings _must_ be separately configurable. Though I think it should stay after you improve performance as well. Rendering space with very little to render is easy, rendering a fully 3d environment is not. The main reason you've been able to keep EVE as the best MMO (and one of the best overall) graphically is the fact that space is (in comparison) easy since there's very little (comparatively) to be rendered.

4) Replace the new static backdrop when you disable station environment with the old static backdrop. The new one serves no purpose other than showing off Incarna, and it does **** off the people that hate Incarna (100% of which have no legitimate reasons to hate it other than removing the old station environment.) This solution also has a practical effect, as without the holo on my desk in CQ, or on the balcony, it's not immediately obvious what ship is currently active. Easy enough to just open the fitting window to check, but still. You already created the assets, let the people that don't want CQ keep the old static station screen; doing this makes everyone win, and choice is always good when it costs you nothing.

5) Lighting on minimum graphics settings is very dark and difficult to see, but maxed out looks amazing. Will have to do some investigating to figure out which specific setting makes the difference, but it's difficult because this laptop is very low quality (1-3FPS when I maxed it for a moment just to see how it looked, heh).

6) Let us lay down on the bed in the CQ.

7) Move the undock button to being the pod itself (it makes more sense, especially if you aren't going to show us an animation of entering it and it closing; I would love that to be animated, but skippable, by the way).

8) Though I'm sure you've already thought of it, I'd love to watch the live stream of the next tournament, and fanfest talks, on the main display (TV) in the CQ.

9) Allow right-click-to-zoom on the main screen (TV). All well and good seeing the whole environment, but when I'm actually trying to read what's up on the screen, it'd be nice to be able to zoom in.

10) Make the main display (TV) interactive, letting us choose the various feeds (corp ads, in-character news, incursions, etc.). I understand if this will take time, as you'll likely need to create additional content to permit it.

11) Allow inviting your mates into your personal quarters.

12) As has been stated repeatedly, the prices on the Noble Exchange are absolutely absurd. Even if they were not items like any other in the game (i.e. they're unique to that station unless you move them, and they're lost on death), the prices would still be far too high. The fact that they _are_ behaving like any other item makes the prices even more absurd. As others have mentioned, bring the prices in-line with other similar services such as PlayStation Home or X-Box Live, where individual items are between US$0,25 and US$0,99, and US$5,00-10,00 for full sets. PlayStation Home is probably perfect, as it's _exactly_ the type of content you're looking to offer here (clothing and accessories, and items -- some of which are interactive or allow displaying of custom photos on the wall -- to decorate your personal area with), and their pricing model and offerings do quite well. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to throwing money at stuff like that, and I've still dropped quite a bit on PlayStation Home items, just because they were cool, but _reasonably_ priced. I'm with others assuming a decimal was misplaced on the price.

It would be very nice if the in character partition of the game would have some content / stuff to do.

If it will be limited to drinking beer in a bar and doing irrelevant poses with your character it's allmost pointless to release it.
But if it has some sort of missions to do be done like invading random station destroying centries and avoiding detection on some hazy corridors while you go and steal a blueprint from Angel Cartel.. That would make it meaningfull.

For instance streaming of alliance tournament thru
the screen we have at captain quarters would be nice. Or display of player made videos. Killboard statistics of major wars.

INTERACTIVE CONTENT .. that's why we play the game.

If the onyl feature of walk in stations is the walking.. it's a FAIL

That middle screen in CQ is quite a jewel in the making. Maybe adding filters to restrict news to region, add/remove: bounties, market etc etc etc.

I believe there's quite a lot to do there for a tangible benefit.

Captain's quarters isn't much yet, but i'm looking forward to the rest of Incarna.
