Well, the patch file that currently downloads from within game fails the verification test. Glad I have uncapped internet.

CCP, if you're aware that the patch is broken, please remove it so that it can't be downloaded until it's fixed. And then please fix it. I resubbed this character for... nothing so far, it appears.

The good thing... if I need something to cook or to warm my flat, I just have to enable CQ !!!

GREAT !!!

Given what the addition of tattoos and scars did to my avies in the editor (just glad I was happy with them before that "fix"), I dread seeing what CQ will do ... so perhaps it is a good thing that I can't even access anything yet. Don't want to terrorize the neighbors when I start running around screaming.

This really really sucks. Why offer a download if it does not work? This is totally ****ty.

Seriously CCP, as much as I love your game and try to defend it, this was poorly planned, crappily thought out, and just not the smartest idea in the long run, you might end up losing more people to issues and lag because nobody wants to spend hundreds of $ to upgrade their computers. Unfortunately I agree that you will owe us some compensation for telling us that the game would be ready over 8 hours ago.

People using mac eve client is what, 3% of total userbase? I think they're prepared for ditching that much.

Now, I wonder how many of those remaining 97% are people rebooting to Windows to play Eve... :D

I wasn't talking only about macs, most windows people have lag and graphics problems. And though 3% sounds small its still a price to pay.

So the logon screen ship movement is actually smooth in windows? Wow...

(yes i updated my client in a vmware instance and it runs better than the native mac client... that's not to say i can play in a vm instance, but at least i'll be able to update the skill queue)

…you know what?

I might just zip up my EVE.app on my Air and distribute it since it (amazingly) does not seem to exhibit any of the issues reported. Most likely it's because I didn't install the optional update when it was first offered to me (or, rather, I couldn't install it because the download failed).

Password field works. Right-click works. No idea if CQ works because… well… it's on an Air and I haven't turned CQ on for obvious reasons. Razz

In fact, CCP — if you want to bughunt, look through what the optional update did and, you know, don't do that, because it seems most of the problems come from that update rather than from the base build.

Same here. Reactivated my account to check this expansion out. Can you refund me and forget I ever reactivated? Sounds pretty fair to me.

Why release a Mac client at all when you can't even be bothered to make it work? /wrist

I used the trick to get past login on a Mac.

I'm getting 1 fps outside station if I'm lucky, and the fans on my compy sound like a jet engine.

The frames I do see look very nice, so I adjusted my graphics settings to the lowest possible.

Still getting 1fps, and I think that's generous.

I can type in alliance and corp but not local, can't read local either. Right clicking is not working on anything.

The only thing I can do is talk to alliancemates on their Wintel boxen, and even then there is a huge amount of lag. I tried ticking the cache files locally box and waiting 20 minutes, but still nothing better.

So, I'm DLing the full client, for the third time. First two stalled and disconnected.

Since Eve is a collaborative environment, my corpmates and I are all suffering due to this delay. Since it is a strategic game, all corps and alliances with Mac players are now at a disadvantage. Since it is a financial game, I am losing considerable income. Since it is 5 gigs, I am spending disproportionate amounts of cash to play on a Mac. Needless to say I am very frustrated and it hurts even moreso because I love this game, but not so much that it justifies buying a dedicated gaming PC.

Well... I repeatedly did the ctrl-V pword thing and got in.
CQ is totally inoperable at <10fps- so I turned it off. I really appreciate CCP allowing us to turn off CQ. I might keep it if it worked. looks nice enough.
I undocked, however, to find SPACE as slow as being docked.... not good not good at all
I didn't crash immediately though, which is more than I can say for the last few patches.

Posting to check what Im gonna get outta this. Because CCP has gotten to the point where you OWE me something. Im paying for your shenanigans and hooliganry while receiving mediocre expansions and horrible support here. You better be giving me some "Amarr 4 Life" coffee-mugs and various other EVE swag. I must command CCP for developing a Mac version. BUT, if you do so, do it correctly. Now, I am stuck because the download.. downloaded and then say... not valid....

Make a choice

And yes, I put in a 20 days skill... :)

Have any of you tried using Eve on Mac through Windows client? Is it worth me going through the bootcamp install. I have never installed Windows onto my Mac.

It's incredible...

Gone from 60 fps on the 9400m with safari open (macbook pro mid 2009, all settings low) to 5-15 fps with skipping and system slowness IN JUST ONE RELEASE!

And that's just the Intro screen, because pasting with Ctrl-V isn't doing ****.

How do you do it, CCP? Kinda ruined the nice news of Final Cut on the App Store.. May aswell install Boot Camp and write off playing under Mac OS X...

Just bloody bull****. Redownloaded the game to no f-ing avail. Just sucks because you all build this expansion up for years and then blah, us Mac users get f-in shat on.... come on... get it up and running!

Finally logged in using copy and paste.

refresh rate is now measured in seconds-per-frame.

To save on cpu power CCP have disabled right-click...

my mistake, not a new feature, just so much lag

I've demanded similar reparations due to their meathead antics, they'll never do it. They seek only to make more money by attracting what I believe to be fools (prospective customers who think walking in stations is actually cool), and they don't care when an already-paying customer is annoyed.

Almost everything they do is a hack and they only care about money. Simple CCP economics. Hell with em, already canceled my account before next billing cycle.

I have 337 days credit, even if they did refund me I'd sooner spend the money on wrist slitting implements than buy a windows computer
