Just thought I'd toss my $0.02 in ...

MacPro 3,1 (8-core)
14Gig RAM
ATI 5770 GPU
Fully up-to-date Snow Leopard 10.6.7

I tossed my old client, downloaded new client. Installation seemed to go fine. When connecting, get told about a patch, installed that. Relogged and character screen comes up fine. I try to actually go in game and the screen begins to load the station interface (buttons and icons on the right hand side). It gets about half of them (with the remaining showing as !) and locks up. Audio goes on loop but no interaction with the interface. I can force-quit and my computer goes back to normal but the EVE client simply won't function.

As of now, it's unplayable. Fortunately I have an 8-day skill training going ...

I thought I would update this. I am now functioning, after I deleted the client AND the preferences folders and did a reinstall from the .dmg file. I let the client apply the patch as normal and it still wouldn't let me in. Upon starting the client again, I adjusted the graphics settings to set Shaders to Low and everything else I could to Medium. THEN, and only then, would it let me in the game and actually function.

So I'm in and able to play, but not overly happy with the process...

Managed to find a friend with a 27" ~year old iMac (I'd have to look up the exact specs) for me to test this on, as my computers don't run EVE anymore.

In space:
Beautiful, smooth as butter, 50+fps without breaking a sweat, even at high graphics settings. Turrets look nice. Maller looks sweet, more new ship skins please.

In station:
Unplayable. Utterly unplayable. 5-15fps tops, and it's really straining to run it at that. This leads to the entire CQ-based UI being completely unusable in its current form. View from the balcony was nice, when I finally managed to get my character to get there. For now, this feature is going off and staying off until some serious optimization gets done. CQ was definitely not ready for prime-time, and it shows. The static background is meh, and I miss spinning my ship.

Also, I found that I crash to desktop about 5-10% of the time while docking. No error message, and EVE won't re-start until the computer has been rebooted. Irritating.

'Show Info' on blueprints for turret items does not work. Some bpo/bpc's will show the icon for the actual item, but other than that no info is shown.

Turret items include: miners, gas harvesters, railguns, autocannons, ...
Items for which the (blueprint) icon has not changed still work correctly. (I did not check all items though).

Confirmed with another corp member who has a Mac that he is experiencing the same problem.
Problem does not occur on Windows systems

Ok, now the little patch work fine for me.
No big problem in game, just a flicker of the screen at one point and polygons, which was a right and left of my ship, I made a deco/connect is it good now.

I Uninstalled My Client! I redownloaded the 5GB Full Client! I skipped Verification! i installed EVE! I downloaded and installed the Fixfontpatch! I opened the Client and it auto-updated the final patch! I went into Graphical Settings! I disabled CQ, I diasbled HDR, I disabled Depth Effects! i then optimizied graphics for Performance! it set all the settings to LOW! I logged in and i worked! However the one flaw is I can't see my Items in my ITEMS TAB! I tried Clearing All Chaces! Still Can't See my Items! It says i have X number of Items but there are no Icons!

I Hope This Helps People!

Well, I got it working (although it does sometimes get stuck). But here's what gets me: I have better specs than the *recommended* specs for Mac users. Why in the world would I want to play with all the eye candy disabled??? If I has specs like this running Windoze, I could have played EVE with no problems @ highest graphics settings. Before Incarna, I was able to play @ highest graphics settings without even a hint of lag.

CCP, if you're reading this (which is probably not true), are there any answers you can provide?

I do not understand your point.

I have no idea what CCP means with "recommended specs" but the way I understand it is:
- "minimum specs" means what you need to match for the game to start at all. The gaming experience will be very bad even at minimal options and minimal resolution.
- "recommended specs" means the gaming experience is deemed "decent" if you play with the minimal graphics options at a reduced resolution.

Another issue: the mail icon doesn't blink when I login and have unread mail.

But I'd really rather you get rid of CQs and these awful new hard to distinguish weapon icons first.

I also wouldn't mind if Eve stopped crashing when I'm jumping while tabbed out of fullscreen. Or at least return Fixed Window mode to the Mac.

Here's the deal - minimum specs are to play the game at a bare minimum, turning off everything possible so that the game simply runs on your machine. Recommended specs is when you want to enjoy the game at its finest, with all the eye candy on and without lag.

The problem here is that I got a machine well above even the recommended specs for a Mac, and still have to turn everything off so that I can at least enjoy my game without lag. Prior to Incarna, I was able to play with all settings set to "High" and have not encountered even the slightest lag.

I have no ideda what I need to do now. I installed the full client on the tuesday, and hte patch and all the new client updates. I can log in with copy and pasting my password. However, once in, right clicking doesn't work, so I am stuck in my noctis, and can't sell anything etc. Strangely I can move about CQ fine, but trying to load market or charactor sheet etc, takers forever, so still leaves the game basically unplayable. Should I reinstall the full build again? Has it been updated since disaster Tuesday? I sent a petition to CCP but they haven't answered, which I guess won't surprise many of you.

Incarna = Fail
EVE = Fail
CCP = Fail

Didn't CCP write a load of crap ages ago about how they were going to get things right and not rush content? or is it just that they genuinely don't need the hassle of supporting mac clients.

I am sorry there is so much time left on my subscription. My next job is to find out how to get a refund.

Ok, I got it working (5th time I downloaded the update).
After downloading and installing I installed the patch that was previously mentioned in this thread ( http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1533189 ). Then I installed the 1# patch which the client suggested and got the thing running.

So far the only thing that was saved were my notes. Overview setting, general settings, market settings and everything else - gone.
The game is really laggy, the character doesn´t always load up, game freezes sometimes, ship doesn´t always jump through gates and the overall experience is like I was playing with a really low end computer which I´m not - and yes, no visual effects in space (warping, shields, gunfire etc)...

Progress: The patch 3# seem to have helped a bit. Most of the effects are working again. If I set texture quality low my character disappears Shocked Walking in station is still extremely laggy BUT, if I disable it (you only see one wall) it really helps. After that all windows open smoothly etc. (at least when every graphics settings are set to low).
The client is still freezing/crashing occasionally and sometimes I get stuck at the login window since the only thing that appears is the background and the spaceship...

EVE freezes every time I quit.

All preferences were reset including overview settings, graphics settings, bookmark folders, window layout, etc.

It's a beta version?

Please ccp, stop ignoring mac users.
I have an iMac 24" (2 years old) incarna is just so... i don't have words... a joke maybe?
And on my Macbook Pro 13" (2 month old) It's ok if i close my eyes.

In space it works fine as usual (i'm not gonna talk about the usual problems...)

Maybe they are being silent because they are trying to ditch their Mac player base? Who knows... I filed a petition on Wednesday to get a refund on my most recent payment which was 2 days before the release and I have not gotten any response yet.

I'm beginning to think they just don't give two shakes of p**s...

I'm enraged by the fact that sense yall decided that pilots with computers that dont support SM3, your just not going to support them!

Is anyone else finding it too dark to be playable? Or am I just being dumb? Is there a way to increase the brightness once the game is running?

Maybe... If I wind the brightness up so far it hurts my eyes to look at the screen, then run EVE I can just about see inside CQ...

Mac Pro
2 x 2.26 Quad-Core Intel Xeon
8GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870

Comp is almost a year old.

In Space:
General in space flight and pew pewing is fine, if anything I'd say things are running smoother. All settings are set to high minus aliasing which is disabled. No Interface issues, no right click issues.

CQ:
Computer is definitely working harder and running a bit hotter to render one room with one character, no overheating but I don't want to push it, and temp is well within acceptable range. That said I don't know what the hell is going to happen with several toons walking around in larger spaces, CQ is a tad jittery though not horrible, certainly not as smooth as space flight.

Setting Character textures to high will sometimes turn my toon pitch black, set to medium: no problems. Haven't had this issue before with setting character textures to high.

Docking will sometimes cause the game to crash while the CQ is loading, simulated cloth/hair is disabled.

Oh wait. It has a SM 3.0 card that isn't actually a sm 3.0 card, of course.
slightly irritated by this... (obviously)

I understand your frustration, but there is very little I can do to convince Apple or ATi to spend time and resources supporting old hardware.

so i guess ill be letting my three subscriptions end. Nice flying with ya.

I have an iMac (iMac9,1); 27"; 3.06GHz. Gave up on the patches, rather downloaded the entire client.

Most of it seems to be working nominally, but doesn't recognize L-C307 as a solar system in "People and Places".

Unable to export market on my MacBook Pro since Incarna deployed. Nothing appears in the usual p_drive/My Documents etc folder. Spotlight says the exported files don't exist.

Experiencing continuous CTD, whenever i go to customise a character, which i have done succesfullly since incarana patch released, i now CTD each time, first i was gettin to the 1st customisation screen to see my character with no skin texture, and then a CTD, i have had other CTD all day also,

sometimes CQ just makes me crash also, other than that fine sometimes still the solar system map wont centre on the object i click on,

i must have crashed 5-10 times today

No. The way I see it is that "minimum" means you run the game, but you do not get a decent playing experience. Recommended is what you need to have a decent experience with minimum setting.

You may disagree, but that's your problem as you are the one that is going to be deluded by the actual gaming experience. That is still what the specs indicate.
