personally, I feel that if they ever change it so that you can dock to chase a cowardly station hugger and pull out a blaster pistol and split his dome open while in station that would be absolutely awesome. if done right. that's just me tho. imagine a gang chasing you around station with a shootout, then you run to your ship undock and a space battle occurs. Im all for it.

I love the people whining in this thread about "redirecting resources". You speak as if CCP has had the same 20 people working on the game since 2001, and hasn't hired any other people to work on these new projects at all.

Mad about what exactly? That you're going to waste money/isk on a plex to get aur or whatever it is?

Mad about the fact that you want to play dress-up?

Not seeing your point....

I think most people are against it because it's being advertised as a great new experience, but it's mostly just a back end overhaul at launch with how little of CQ is complete. In these times of instant gratification, that doesn't sit well with some people.

So many people crying about the new currency... if I plan on buying anything from that store, it's either going to be with ISK, or with a PLEX I've purchased with ISK. No need to worry about spending RL ISK for me, I'll let somebody else take care of that, ta.
The only problem I can see is many other people will have the same attitude as me, meaning PLEX will be purchased more and there will be a market shortage, pushing PLEX prices up. Ah well Rolling Eyes

Its not that people are against it in and of itself. Its just that it takes a huge amount of resources away from the spaceship game - leaving that pretty much abandoned. only something like 18% of the devs are working on the spaceship game because incarna and dust are taking up all the devs.

Thats great if you can't wait to try on virtual clothes and strut around. But it sucks if you think FW, low sec and null sec mechanics need work and there is no point in time where ccp will even begin to work on it.

The way i see it, Incarna brings nothing of use to EvE. It's being put inn so that EvE and Dust players can interact wich conviniently is a micro transaction game. And as we know EvE is leaning against aswell.
They are phusing trough a feature that many players dont want or see no use of, for the sake of a enviroment that's tailored for micro transactions.

I mean as a player that first played this game shortly after launch some 8 years ago, there are still stuff in space that should be fixed. I just picked up the game again after being gone for something like 2-3 years and stuff from back then is still not remotely looked at.

Spend workhours on stuff that actually mathers not **** that people dont want.

My 2 cents of speculation anyway

Most of people are always against any significant changes. But no any long living dynamic project can live without it. Player community always has rotation and game needs fresh blood. Thus it needs some total refreshing changes bringing it up to date with modern tendencies. While most of oldfarts like the way they playing and just dont mention, that ELITE-like-only concept became a bit ancient at year 2011.

The second most popular criticism about EVE outside of EVE-related forums is the lack of avatar immersion (or whatever you want to call it). The sword and dragon crowd, as we like to call them, enjoys seeing their person walk around. It's nothing new. Some people like to enjoy their games instead of viewing them as a part time job.

People don't like this for _______ reason. Many people in this thread seem to think it will hurt their opportunities of getting a sweet, sweet gank.

- All of the activities that move EVE along and gain you isk are still outside the station - mining, missioning, etc. So people will still be out and about.

- This will bring more people to the game. Period. If that doesn't seem like a good thing to you, pick your brain up at the door where you left it.

- The people who want to fight will still want to fight. The people who hide will still hide. Only this time they might walk through the station instead of alt tabbing to look at Facebook.

Overall it's a positive thing for the game, and in a year these complaints will be a distant memory (though there will always be something to complain about because rabblerabblerabble $15 a month).

This pretty much wins the thread for me. A few certainties in EVE:

1) Moaners will always moan
2) Fighters will always fight
3) Hiders will always hide
4) Downtime will always over-run ;)

Seriously, it never ceases to suprise me the amount of posts *****ing and slating CCP - the same people then log in to the game and pay their subs every month.

I am far from a fanboi and think CCP have done some pretty crappy things to the game since I started in 2003 but one constant has always been there...

You cant please all the people all of the time.

To all the moaners who complain about more excuses for WD people to hide in stations......do you really think at the moment they sit there ship spinning and crying? Or do you think they alt-tab/go watch TV? Incarna will change that how?

High five.

I will say though however I am worried about micro-transactions, I hope they won't go far beyond cosmetics. Otherwise, well.. Neutral

what we fear is not this initial release with the captains quarters. What we fear is the stations. A safe and entertaining haven where WT's can spend countless hours in complete safety and enjoy themselves.

Having good wars in the past year or so seems to have gotten even harder in empire. Countless hours spent waiting outside of stations for WT's to come out and play. I am one of those people that think stations should be able to be destroyed. yeah it should take 100+ man dreadfleets to take em down within 2 days it should be one of the most arduous difficult things to do in eve, but we should have the abillity to do so if we have the pilots, the resources and the dedication to kill a station. When a station dies, all pilots and all assets contained within the station should be destroyed.

We think incarna with have a decidedly negative effect on empire pvp. I don't think it would effect 0.0 too much, but either way pvp in general I believe is going to suffer.

Also.. not to mention the development and man hours it took to make incarna alot of us feel could have been better spent on polishing what we already have. There are still alot of bugs and issues that need to be smoothed out of eve as it is. We could also do with more ships

AGREED 100% they could have used the money to updated the models for all the ships with the time that they spent on incarna

This is a common mistake, so I will let it slide. But just for education, EVE is NOT a spaceship game. It is a science fiction MMO. Spaceships are only a part of the picture.

I started playing eve 8 years ago to fly and blow up spaceships, im pretty sure a huge percentage since then upto now, started for the same reason.

I dont hate incarna, tbh I havent really bothered looking into it much. I think the issue is - the past! CCP create these great expansions, give it all the big fanfare and nice trailers, then whens its released its awful, and everyone just slumps and thinks I waited for months and got all excited only to find its a bit naff.

People talk about these free expansions, well its not really free is it, your still paying quite a large subscription fee every week, your constantly paying for eve as long as you play it. Over time your going to pay a **** load of money for a game. and also they should be free because the expansions are not that great ever, they are not worth paying for to be quite fair.

I would personally be happy to pay for expansions if they where very very good. The reason Wow can charge for them is that they are epic expansions they bring out, not crappy ones like Im sorry CCP, but eve expansions. They are more like features than expansions from CCP.

Im not sure I entirely agree with the WTs issue, Incarna wont offer that much to keep you in a station and after a week people will just get used to it and the novelty will wear off.
And really are people that sad to stay in a station like forever, no theres internet spaceships to play.

Incarna will not be what you think it will be or even close, but hopefully over the next year or so it will improve, but with CCPs track record of never finishing anything properly and leaving things in its most basic state then I wont hold my breath.

In its current incarnation it adds 0 to the game. Sure we get an interactive screen and more immersion for the rp. But When I tested it on sisi I found my self playing with it for 5 minutes then going back to my usual screen flooded with boxes.

Sure "my" Utu looked great up their suspended in mid air.

New players will however get a much smoother transition into the game, if they don't get distracted by the barbie world eye candy and forget to Undock.

When everything, about "the incarna vision" is realised (about 2-3 years) then we really can judge, but then again I LIKE TO PEW PEW WITH MY SPACESHIP.

Interestingly enough it gives EvE another platform of which to build complexity on that goes beyond the concept of "player owned houses"

but then again I LIKE TO PEW PEW WITH MY SPACESHIP.

Having played this game since its inception, I've seen every wimper, cry, moan and groan there has been to see about every release to date. The common ground is usually based on one thing. People that are forced outside of their comfort zone **** and moan about it because it forces them to think and adapt. People can be lazy and that carries over into their gameplay too. They find a means of griefing, making ISK, mission running etc.. and like to stick to that. Whenever something threatens that, you get "Why oh why!?", and "boohoo, whoa is me"...

If you want to play a non-evolving, never-changing, mindless game, go play WoW with the rest of the 12-year-olds out there. You can watch the same content with different names all you like. If you want a world of change, where only the strong survive, and actual thought goes into the game, play EvE right? Power, wealth and assets go to those who embrace change...destruction, annoyance and poverty to those who despise it.

I have to agree with your comment about the so-called "expansions" in EvE. In the last 8 years I've only seen 2 releases where there was really significant change, and this isn't one of them. If CCP was introducing new races, new space, new ships, skills, and re-writing massive amounts of code to all-together alter gameplay, then they could call it an "Expansion". But by virtue of the fact that they are merely changing existing content and fixing, it's certainly aptly named a "patch".

Well said Mr R4nd0m

This for starters.

More precisely, that is REPLACES (instead of being added to) the hangar view.

Quote:
The current station environment is scheduled for deletion.
And the CQ environment (still) runs worse than 3 times slower compared to the current hangar view.
[...]
we have the option to NOT load the CQ environment.[...]
This is a decent fallback for the people with less than stellar performance machines which would be overwhelmed by the extreme graphics of the CQ, but it's a very poor compromise for people that actually wanted to run the CQ environment every now and then.
[...]So, to recap, you can keep the CQ environment as the default enabled option, but:
* MANDATORY - separate the CQ from the non-CQ graphics detail settings into two completely separate groups which you can set differently
* MANDATORY - keep the ESC menu option to not load any environment at all
* STRONGLY PREFERRED - add some even lower graphics detail levels for CQ
* OPTIONAL - do not delete the current hangar environments AND make them an alternative (default disabled) via the ESC menu

There you go.

Not against Incarna, really. What I am against is its shoddy, half assed implementation and the ignorance CCP shows in regards to valid concerns and wishes of the community.

Edit: On and yeah I am also afgainst them continuing to pump cash into putting this stuff out when their game doesn't even have a proper sound engine for f*s sakes...

- It doesn't add anything I would find fun.

- It's forced on me instead of being an option like it should be.

- I like to run multiple accounts and now to keep from having performance issues I'm gonna have to keep my cyno alts/auxilliary characters cloaked up in space or something.

-It's aimed at the low attention span "new players" (the ones who didn't subscribe after the trial because "I can't see my avatar so Ia go play wow) who have 15 bucks burning a whole in their mommy's purse thus making them more valuable to ccp than those of us who have been paying for it for a long time

-It's just pure useless fluff. EVE players tend to be particularily spartan "how does this help me or let me have fun" types and this change only makes eve life harder for some of us with adding any fun.

I've played for 4 years so I don't know if that makes me a "vet" or something. I just know that I am not against GOOD, useful change, I am against stupid, needless, useless Obama like change (yea I went there!). Give me something I can use and enjoy and I'm fine, but this crap is useless.
