I've seen people complaining in forums and a few friends have been raging over the whole Incarna patch.
What's to hate about it?

what we fear is not this initial release with the captains quarters. What we fear is the stations. A safe and entertaining haven where WT's can spend countless hours in complete safety and enjoy themselves.

Having good wars in the past year or so seems to have gotten even harder in empire. Countless hours spent waiting outside of stations for WT's to come out and play. I am one of those people that think stations should be able to be destroyed. yeah it should take 100+ man dreadfleets to take em down within 2 days it should be one of the most arduous difficult things to do in eve, but we should have the abillity to do so if we have the pilots, the resources and the dedication to kill a station. When a station dies, all pilots and all assets contained within the station should be destroyed.

We think incarna with have a decidedly negative effect on empire pvp. I don't think it would effect 0.0 too much, but either way pvp in general I believe is going to suffer.

Also.. not to mention the development and man hours it took to make incarna alot of us feel could have been better spent on polishing what we already have. There are still alot of bugs and issues that need to be smoothed out of eve as it is. We could also do with more ships

I think the real question is, whats to like about it? There is nothing I can do in incarna that I couldnt do pre-incarna.

Being forced to use the CQ every time you dock is a big negative..
Having no WT's to shoot at because they're too busy being gay like all the other idiots in the station walking around is another downside...
The mass ammount of bugs that is sure to follow because CCP's programmers are complete quacks is another big downer..

The list could go on, but how many things can you think of thats GOOD about it?

It might go the other way and make dealing with docked wts better - if they dock up then you can dock behind them and punch their fleshy bodies instead of shooting their ship.

In general though the incarna whining is just a case of 'whiners gonna whine'

internet spaceship game does not need to have first person view or any inside station activities beyond those directly relating to the internet spaceships.

Are ccp just going to go round every game genre and find some way to stich it onto eve, using our funding, yes, yes they are.

whoop.

It's called change. People in forums need to show how hardcore and vets they are by moaning about any change.

I even read people claiming that the old character creation tool was better than the new one, true story Laughing.

Except you cant punch or harm anyone in station... You can only bump into them like a mindless drone... it just gives people who claim to be pvpers a place to hide from the real pvpers....

I'd love to hear a reasonable argument FOR the igNoble Exchange. It's a cash shop, pure and simple. You can now buy whatever you wish in-game with real money. CCP says that only fluff items will be available through the shop, but anyone with half a brain knows that's just a bold-faced lie. Within six months time, you'll be dropping 20 bucks on your credit card to buy those ships the industrialists used to build. It will happen, guaranteed.

What's NOT to hate about it?

And the fact that real resources were re-directed to put this crap out instead of addressing real issues is disheartening at best.

Not if you trained small arms V and crowd blending V... Then you stealthily walk up to them while they get drunk in a bar and blast them in the face with your handheld energy weapon. They wake up in a cloning vat and you get tackled by the station police and thrown in a holding cell.

It sounds fun to me.

This is a common mistake, so I will let it slide. But just for education, EVE is NOT a spaceship game. It is a science fiction MMO. Spaceships are only a part of the picture.

Jim-whateverurnameis I doubt they'll add the ability to kill people in stations anytime soon... If they did there would have to be restrictions to it most definately.

such as:
you can only fire at and kill war-targets (which would be okay but still degrades from the real purpose of the game).

The problem I forsee happening if they add that is:

a. people will just kill everyone for the sake of killing everyone..
b. no one will use the system they just so eloquently rolled into our laps in a very forceful manner...

at least option b has a positive to it: no more of this garbage.... at least until the next hair-brained idea...

I'll play devil's (read: CCP's) advocate.

The second most popular criticism about EVE outside of EVE-related forums is the lack of avatar immersion (or whatever you want to call it). The sword and dragon crowd, as we like to call them, enjoys seeing their person walk around. It's nothing new. Some people like to enjoy their games instead of viewing them as a part time job.

People don't like this for _______ reason. Many people in this thread seem to think it will hurt their opportunities of getting a sweet, sweet gank.

- All of the activities that move EVE along and gain you isk are still outside the station - mining, missioning, etc. So people will still be out and about.

- This will bring more people to the game. Period. If that doesn't seem like a good thing to you, pick your brain up at the door where you left it.

- The people who want to fight will still want to fight. The people who hide will still hide. Only this time they might walk through the station instead of alt tabbing to look at Facebook.

Overall it's a positive thing for the game, and in a year these complaints will be a distant memory (though there will always be something to complain about because rabblerabblerabble $15 a month).

If you don't like it, don't play. This isn't your game company where you choose the direction.

Bittervets like you all are the reason EVE sucked for a while, because you're (1) hypocrites and (2)ALWAYS against change.

>Want to force people to pvp who don't want to pvp by War deccing.

>Whine because War Dec'd targets can now not have to pvp

Bull****. Get out. The old will die off and make way for the new. If you don't like the new carebear positive game play, then play something else. Don't even give me your stuff, just leave.

And nothing of value would be lost :)

When it was first announced as coming soon™ many years ago i don't remember anyone complaining. Everyone was pretty hyped about it. I think it's all the teasing and rescheduling that caused them to stop caring.

I'm indifferent myself at this point. I welcome it, but i wouldn't say i'm excited.

People are POed that they can no longer grief carebears as effectively because said carebears can undertake in PI, Walking around, and Space Barbie Dressup while in stations, denying them kills a tears, thereby creating tears that the carebears drink up.

Because no one ever started this game as a newb and thought hey, this combat/wardec/fleet thing is cooler than I originally thought when I was mining in my Navitas on day one, I might try to shoot another ship and wow this is fun so I'll move to null/WH/low and continue doing these things.

i only play 0.0 cause u can shoot other people in high sec exept war dec and play docking games, u cant shoot people in low sec only in battleship and station games. 0.0 is still vaga and hurricane online... kinda boring and funny to see that in a space ship game bugs and not working spaceshisp are getting ignored for such a long long time... utterly fail. Everyone that want to pvp in 0.0 is forced to have a minmatar char or crosstrain minmatar, everyone who sais other wise know nothin about 0.0 and better stfu

but hey, after yr 1 i was like whoot? yr 2 i was like bleh.. and now after 3,5 yr i dont expect much anymore form ccp.

There are much more productive things they could have been doing to make Eve online better. Many of which would have taken a fraction of the effort of Incarna. And lets not even get into animated turrets in a game which is mostly played zoomed out enough you'll never notice them.

Oh, and of course a cash shop, yaaay.

But I'm not really bothered. Incarna is just them re-using code from WoD and Dust to cobble together something they can claim is an Eve expansion. And the turrets will look good in promo movies.

While I agree to an extent, but take my alliance for example. It's primarily a high-sec industry alliance... They got wardec'd, and now the corp that war-dec'd us hides from us all day long.... Now he'll have something to do so he doesn't get bored while he's being too big of a pu$$y to fight in the war he initiated....

This pretty much wins the thread for me. A few certainties in EVE:

1) Moaners will always moan
2) Fighters will always fight
3) Hiders will always hide
4) Downtime will always over-run ;)

Seriously, it never ceases to suprise me the amount of posts *****ing and slating CCP - the same people then log in to the game and pay their subs every month.

I am far from a fanboi and think CCP have done some pretty crappy things to the game since I started in 2003 but one constant has always been there...

You cant please all the people all of the time.

To all the moaners who complain about more excuses for WD people to hide in stations......do you really think at the moment they sit there ship spinning and crying? Or do you think they alt-tab/go watch TV? Incarna will change that how?

For my part, I don't hate Incarna, I just don't see the point. I don't stick with a game for its great graphics, immersion or for RP; not that those things won't improve a good game. I stick with a game because the mechanics of the game are deep, entertaining, challenging, and balanced. If someone developed the best game ever, but skinned it as Smurfs Online and did a crappy job of doing it, I'd probably play it. If someone took the best IP out there and did a beautiful job of tacking it onto a crap game, I wouldn't look twice.

IMO, Incarna (and WoD) has been a distraction to CCP from what made EvE a good game and won't add anything to improve the actual game for the foreseeable future. I understand that WoD is intended to be a new path of expansion for CCP, and Incarna is the test bed for that. Fine, but now that Incarna is deployed CCP needs to show us where their interests really are. I expect that most of the vets are going to be looking very hard at what CCP does over the next few months.
