CCP,

No doubt you wont read this reponse, much like many responses whom mirror the same thoughts and feelings as my own.

I've been playing tihs game for around 7 years now, and every single time a major update comes out it is delayed. Before it used to be a small number of hours and I didnt mind, but this is just getting longer and longer with each update.

I am absolutely disgusted that a company in such a competitive market feels that its good conduct to treat their customers this way. I work as an IT Consultant, and if I was late or didn't keep my word, my word would very fast become worthless. CCP, you know people will continue to play your game, and so you feel that treating paying customers in this manner is ok. Not only is it poor business practice but it's wrong.

Just an example, I setup a skill to run which would allow me enough time to log back into the game in the two hours free I get per day, after DT and set another skill. Because of this delay that wont happen, thus I will be missing out on a full days worth of skill training.

Just to ensure that you get the point, this isnt just about losing skill times, I'm paying a good amount of money, more so than most other MMORPG's, and my gametime is being taken away because of your inability to stick to your word and do your jobs properly. If you are not going to be able to get an update out by the time you say, then you must start to factor this into your estimations. I would rather you say that servers will be down from 07:00 till 23:30 (and we all know it will be later than that) compared to 17:00, and then bump it forwards every hour or so.

Most people at a very young age learn how to manage their time and learn that sticking to your word is very important in life, and you, CCP, are acting like a teenager whom ignores both. I am truly dissapointed in how this business is being run and your treatment of customers is negligent.

this is amazing stuff. talk about nerd rage its awsome how some state to be said "I.T consultant" and yet whines and cries like the teenager he claims CCp to be. im enjoying this deployment moreso than the last couple.

You had me until here. 50 cents for coffee? BULL****!

To all of you whining about a 16 hour downtime: when have you EVER worked a 16 hour day? When have you deployed software that went horribly wrong? They're busting ass and we're sitting on a forum.

Trust me, this downtime sucks WAAAYYY more for them than it does for any of us.

You work as an IT Consultant? Sorry, but i sincerely doubt that after your words. Delays of this magnitude are normal in IT.

No, delays are built into a project plan and are accounted for. Believe me, if my clients had a delay like this I wouldnt have any damn clients left. You build in these kind of problems into your plan, estimate how long it will take to resolve and then ensure your customers know about it.

I'm starting to think that CCP dont even bother with this most basic of practices. I'd bet money they didnt conduct *any* hardware risk-assesment before this ****up occured.

Lol, you people. :)

First of all, They said it was going to be a long downtime, so if you're sitting waiting for it to upload: you're a moron.

If you didn't set a long skill in anticipation of this despite CCP WARNING YOU TO : You're a Moron.

Also, if you're just mad you can't play, but haven't yet realized SINGULARITY IS ONLINE AND YOU CAN LOG IN : You're a moron.

Personally I'd rather my updates be done -right- than done quick. I don't really lose any game time over this because I have an awesome game called Real Life(tm) you should maybe check it out while you wait for the patch, dudettes!

Well said. cute avi btw

since you guys are delaying so much, you should give us more screen shots and demo videos to oogle, keeps the trolls and morons occupied while you work :P

I am a project manager in RL and in our business we are required to exceed our client’s expectations. The first step in that process is to take care in setting realistic expectations to start with.

This is not the first time CCP has grossly underestimated the down time necessary to deploy an update.

Heads up to the Stellar Management folks… A 10-cent/client/hour in excess of estimate refund would surely cause some accountability. At least performance-delay based fines work in the RW.

Just to make sure I am not being daft - there is nothing we can download yet, right? I'm not asking about the server being up, I just have a lamish net connection and would like to get a start on downloading any local updates. If all the issues are server-side, we ought to be able to start client update wheels in motion, yes?

I'm not in IT, and I'm not agreeing with the so-called IT consultant. That being said, I do work for a public corporation that has a 24-hour IT department. If my company were to have outages like this...they would likely replace someone. However, our servers being online are critical to our operations. Eve, on the other hand, is a game...and I don't really care if I can't play my game for a few hours.

It's different for a running system or updating/installing a new system. Ofc you would fire someone who messes up a running system this way. But we don't have here a running system today.

Would appreciate it if everyone stopped complaining so much so that when they come out with more information they could post it without it getting lost in a field of "woes me, I can't play my game, so my life is ruined." Create a different forum on how much your life sucks. Lets let CCP finish their job, and post new information. Thank you.

I work in the I.T field aswell and if you did the same then you would know that with technology that you cannot predict what might go wrong or even if it will take at all. You can sit there and hope, wish, think, pray, and guess about when but the simple fact is it will not alweays go as planned. If you do not like the outcome of time it is taking CCP to distribute this patch then move on with your life and find something else to do with your time.

With a bit of luck. US TZ ALSO won't be able to login YARRRR!!

But tbh, every patch is the same, there is something really really wrong with CCP releasemanagement.

Release should be tested and tested again and otherwise not deployed. How can you find some last minute bugs, or database update issues or whatever?

And if tested, you can test the deployment itself and know EXACTLY how long it will take..

Don't take this the wrong way CCP, i know it's been a long day(s) for you guys, but for the love of our spaceshippixels, learn from this for once.

it's impossible to know what will happen, buddy until it happens. they are trying to put together something they have never done before. like for example the first person who put together a big mac at mcdonalds there would be no way to know how long it will take until they sat down and did it. the thing with video game programming almost everything they do is completely new. so how can you estimate a time frame if you have nothing to compare it to?

If you people dont realize it is not about the 35c (and what of most plp with multiple accounts) It is about CCP telling us yet again a time and yet again screwing up. I employ people to work for me and if CCP was working for me they would be out of a job. So you brown nose people need to take your heads from out of CCP's behind because unless you work for them, sticking up for them and making light of a serious mess wont get you any where.
What has happened here is a disgrace, Blizzard did a seemless expansion that is a lot more complex than this one and did it with no downtime at all.
As has been mentioned, this happens every time and CCP should be ashamed.
10 hours @ 12 million an hour = 120 mill lost, hint hint.
