no offense, but if you have too much time and are bored, read this thread. answers to this kind of statement has been given several times:
eve times is always the utc time, which is displayed ingame in the lower left corner. so you should be aware of the time difference to the place you are living.
new forums have the feature of embedding the eve time clock.
and to know, when the server is back up, just follow this forum, read the news, or spam the client.

Was hoping for a DEV response. Oh well. :)

Ho-hum
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/evepremiumpatch267203-271273_m.exe

That is the authorised patch; note the domain eveonline.com there...

CCP Forum Post on updating your Eve client

Those are the instructions for updating to the current version (267203) of Incursion. The patch is from 267203 to 271273. CCP generally don't advertise the URL until after downtime has ended, presumably in case they need to roll back, or change the patch at the very last minute. In other words, they will continue to advertise the old version as the current.
With previous updates, it has been safe to download the patch in advance of being allowed back in, just make sure you get it from the official EVE server. If in doubt, feel free to play it safe and wait, but I can assure you that this is the genuine patch.

You are wrong on that mate ...

Just imagine CCP announces Patch Downtime of 4 Days .. the forum would EXPLODE of threads whining , nagging, calling CCP incompetent and slowasses .... no . you Testrun the deployment - it runs in 12 hours - so you hope to make it in 12 hours on the real server too - but since singularity is just 1 server and the real servers are many .. things tend to get complicated ... like updating the shared database in this case

Was hoping for an epic crabby smart*ass- and knowingitallbetter-alphanerds thread and stayed very satisfied.

I am on vacation in Austria, had breakfast at 07:00 UTC, had a great sunny day in the mountains, finished a relaxing 1 hour sauna session, enjoyed some music on my iPod, dinner was awesome, played some table games with my kids, arrived at the hotel room... EVE still offline... I don't care... will not wine but will take some whine instead... checking later... SEX... same procedure as every patch... will continue to enjoy EVE what I used to do since 2006. CCP is doing great. Business as usual. Changes? Adapting since 2006(TM).

Leaving this thread in hope that all crabby smart*ass- and knowingitallbetter-alphanerds will emoragewinep*ssedquit EVE soon(immediately).

evemon. bottom left corner of it's window shows current EVE time. else, there are a dozen widget clocks on the market (incl freeware ones) that will show you 2 clocks, one with local time and one with EVE time ( or any other 2 time zones you want). try cnet.com, never had any trouble there.

The forums need a EVE clock :(

$15 a month is 50 cents a day. even if you run two clients you're losing out on a dollar.

if you seriously consider that a big deal considering the updates themselves are free, leave the game and go find a better job.

Am i seriously the only one who can comprehend how to log in every hour to check if theres a patch to download, and if theres not, just go about my day?

And the people ranting in here with no knowledge of how computers, networks, or video game design works is quite LoL.

Eh, stop complaining. there are technical thigns at play that go wrong, the bigger the patch, the more likely its DT will be trippled.
Besides, everyone knows its not patch release, its patch week.

you don't lose that much time playing eve, look at the PSN, and imagine how WoW players feel when they lost their game for a whole week, child rage. lol.

anyway, stop your pointless whining, in the last 2 months the only real DT I've suffered is incarna and I planned that it would take at least 2 days to get working.

Eh, this is why you have dress rehearsals, to root out any problems so you can be prepared for them. Currently we're about 8 hours down which, for those of us who work in the same timezone as EVE runs essentially means a full day after you take sleep and working hours into account. And there's been plenty of outages this month. Granted, they usually come back up fairly quick after an emergency reboot or w/e but still, cutting into already short window of playing time. I'd love to see CCP do the next major patch during US time, THEN you'd seem some whining!

The instructions also mention waiting for TQ to open and then download the update via the Eve client to reduce the number of problems people have experienced in the past.

edit - Issues they will experience as they download a patch that might not be applicable anymore based on issues they found during the Incarna update.

So, by current estimations... it's 8PM for me now. So what, it finishes at 10PM? I'd go watch some adult movies or something but, that'd only waste a minute and I'd have another hour and 59 minutes with nothing to do.

Look dude, I didn't say they needed to tack on 3 f*cking days to the time frame. I said overestimate.

As in tack on a few extra hours.

If the devs estimate the deployment will be complete at 17:00 UTC, they should post in news that it will be complete by 22:00 UTC. That way, if they finish early, they look good. And if they end up needing more time, they have it without having to post again saying "Whoops we need more time ty for understanding lol".

Seems like an easy way to avoid this kind of bull**** in the future.

It might have something to do with the fact that TQ's hardware has changed radically in recent times. Wink

That, and CCP are just optimists. You'd think by now people would just add extra time onto DT regardless of what CCP says.
