I'd say that they proved friendship is more valuable to them than victory, they didn't lose respect, they just earned it.

Name one other sport in which throwing a game is counted an acceptable way to "prove friendship," much less an honorable way to play before a public audience.

Professional Hugging.

Right you are: World Wide Federation Wrestling.
Guess I should have put more qualifiers in front of "sport." Wink

Congrats to Outbreak and Hydra for making it to the final. The 2 best teams out there, most of these angry posters seem to forget all the other match's that were not meta gamed between buddies, which you both were able to perform like the champions you are.

Saying that I expected that type of outcome for the final. Previous experience and the knowledge of how Hydra can be from time to time that ending did not surprise me one bit.

Good show both of you, I love the tears that follow your shared win!

I find it interesting that the winner of the graphics card was once in a corp that had been in Hydra Reloaded in the past.

Don't worry I don't think the apology was for real.

Anyone seeing the looks on the CCP panel's faces right after their co-called match, and how they completely ignored even saying one word about the match, spoke volumes.

They were stupid, and are still being stupid by thinking a flowery public apology in the forums makes it all better. Rolling Eyes

Football boxe rugby tennis golf F1 and so on? -well these I'm naming don't do it for friendship but for cash, I rather like the friendship excuse.

Yes, you have a point there. Like the 1919 Chicago White Sox, banned for life for throwing the World Series to show their "friendship" for the bookies who took all those bets on them. How much and whose ISK traded hands on this final match?

Oh cool he was also the only person to bet on Hydra winning and there totally wasn't about 200 corps in Hydra at one point.

These sock-people should've been more careful with the paper trail then if it's not allowed. I'm sure eve players would've managed to pull that off.

This whole 'we are one team' rubbish, is that supposed to make people happier that you rigged, badly at that, the final? Or give you guys some bewildering redemption or validation?

For a game, you guys take it way too serious, but meh that's up to you. Keep the new pixel ships and pixel medals, other serious EVE players wont ever let you guys forget it and though you probably don't care now, over time you probably will.

For the hardcore EVE player & CCP, this was a kick in the teeth and you lost respect, but seeing as I am a part time player these days, I personally, am just amused how serious you lot (EVE community and the feeble finalists) take all this stuff.

But I disgress Very Happy

NOTE - After the final, no one in the EVE TV studio made any reference to the final itself....at all. Not in anyway, shape or form. That tells you all you need to know, right? Laughing

Yep, and what they know that's not being discussed here is that their real headache from this begins next summer as CCP tries to ramp up general public buzz about EVE for DUST. This pretty much kicks one leg out from under their PR stool, as they can't then publicize their glorious annual tournament without letting fly from all directions the story of this lame thrown final.

how about next time you come to grips with the fact that giving us a good show is not your ****in job, your job is to kill or die.

while certainly lulsworthy the damage you guys have done to the AT and those involved with it is not.

I would suggest next time you not do us (the viewers) any more favors and also check your colossal ego at the door.
theres a time and a place for this stuff.

Props on the metagaming, brilliantly done and completly in style with the EVE sandbox that we all know and love

but

the EVE sandbox and the EVE alliance tournament should be 2 completly different things, all is fair in the sandbox but should not be in a Tournament, a tournament is mainly for the spectators and should be regulated by rules and enforced by consequenses that prevents things like this to happen in the future.

i also found it funny that nobody in the panel talked alot about the final fight, they where more like, "i hope this gets forgotten, soon" :P

For everything that was planned, we had alot of respect for all our opponents and as such didnt talk about anything but the match at hand. No one dared speculate the "what if's" of a few matches down the road. So the last match although penciled in as a dramatic finale went pear shaped through no planning/jinxing. Sorry.

The real final for us was most definatley the one versus Darkside, those guys are really something else! Thats the fight that had us screaming on ts the most!

This was our first attempt at AT and with some superb corp leadership and guidance from Garmon along with training alongside HYDRA. I am proud of what we've achieved today.

I'd like to extend all our respect to all the teams we fought to achieve what we did, you guys never made anything easy.

till next year...

I'm really sorry guys, it wasn't what was planned, we were planning on making it a hardcore brawl and to hopefully have it be a close match, but things didn't go as planned.

When we started the tournament we agreed to make the finals be a real match because we didn't want to **** people off, we didn't achieve this, we completely ****ed up, I'm really really sorry to kil2 because I told him it's going to be a good fight.

After Hydra started taking heavy losses outbreak team decided to give us the win because they thought I deserved it, it's not their fault, we should have planned things better or gone with identical setups or something and made it close to the wire.

Again I'm very sorry to every one that watched that match, especially sorry to kil2 and the commentators and to eve tv, I really hope this doesn't effect them negatively, but I'm sure it will due to our mess up.

I did have big achievement today but it feels like it was all taken away by what happened in the finals, I've disappointed kil2 and I've dissapointed my friends, every one that watched the finals including all of you

Please forgive me

And like anyone would care right now without the EVE TV stream? You just ruined their hard work by not delivering a good show in the finals and upsed alot viewers whom most likely won't watch the tourney next year.

Even though you share the prices for both 1st/2nd place for some reason you just choose to make a joke out of the final.

No not at all. You guys did an awesome job and i can't even imagine the job that went into it. Forget how the final is played out. It's 20 mins and it was pretty comedy.

But comparing yourself to people who have come back and won 3 times in a row even. That's not fair.
