Thanks for the apology, however given what you did one has to wonder if it is sincere. Possibilities:

1) You messed up and are sorry because you didn't THINK about the ramifications of what you were doing.

2) From the total silence of the CCP panel after the match you realize you have displeased them (greatly) and stupidly think some dramatic public apology will make everything ok.

Either way - fail.

I loved this tournament as with all of the previous tournaments. The bittersweet tears from those who emotionally invested in inferior teams is also rather delicious and while I am writing this I am licking those tears off my screen and orgasming pure rainbows.

Yes, people will be disappointed at the final and the meta-gaming that occurred to get it there. Yet they will still celebrate meta-gaming in other areas and fail to recognise their own hypocrisy.

In fact, let's see what happened here. The team captain of Outbreak and Hydra Reloaded was one and the same. Yes, one captain and two teams with total agreement of both teams. They defeated all of the other teams which is no mean feat and something of a massive triumph. Especially considering how easily that operation could itself have been meta-gamed.

A chap called Garmon who's mother keeps watch on his router in the basement beat all comers and yet the vast intellect of all of the other players in Eve cannot beat this. If you truly devalue Garmon then you should be ashamed of yourselves. If you don't want to be ashamed then you should do better yourselves next year and shut up until then.

He achieved what others didn't by using well established Eve Online values and knew the actual game to achieve an end result that was favourable to him and the teams he represented. Whining about it is just embarrassing yourself.

While the result was what I thought it would be in our last podcast episode, the reasons are a little different. I was fully expecting sone sort of Pandemic Legion bartering for the final winning position after HYDRA RELOADED and Pandemic Legion beat all others into the final.

While I was wrong on that count, you have to recognise the hard work involved in not only getting one team to the final, but navigating all of the other matches, managing the metagaming and getting two there.

Thank you to all who took part, team captains and grunts and thank you to all of the CCP people involved. Another winner and another Alliance Tourney done.

Forum topic is not an proper apology for ruining the whole event. How about you just trash all Vangel and Malice BPCs?

You know some girls can work out for new sport cars only with their mouth, but this will not make them respectable or not disgusting, even if they will apologize for this for the rest of their lives. Your alliances are just the same. Dont spit on the community or you will drown from response ugh

Erm we did? The sleip team easily won, and as Garmon is Hydra and he engineered this we let Hydra win. The vindi's were crapper than we thought and if it had gone the other way no one would have noticed I presume?

See, the thing that really caused the problem is that it was obviously a thrown fight. I'm actually curious about those Vindis... what the hell gives with them sucking so bad at point blank range? You guys should have been taking the next best thing to 3500 DPS, and that Scim can only rep ~2k with a good resist pattern.

And yes, I do respect the effort and dedication fielding *two* AT teams is. Mad props, and congrats. But next time just royal rumble for us and worry about the official victory later. ;-)

Thank you so much for the apology! It gives me pride to fly in the same universe as people with such a sincere and persistent commitment to drawing rage tears from those who think this is just a video game.

HTFU, people! The internets have been leaking for some time. Love EVE for what it is, not what you'd like it to be. It hasn't been just about the internet spaceships for ages!

What really ****es me off is that fact that SOO many people has the 'ends justify the means' attitude. Thinking, that oh both of the 'hydra teams' got to the final, all is done. it is a bloody disgrace that it was handled like this, when you have hard-working and more deserving alliances out there- Darkside, RvB RED, Paisti just a few examples. Fair dos, Hydra and Outbreak fought to the final, and did well, but didnt deserve the final.

Metagaming and generally shallow behaviour will always be a part of the alliance tournament, and always have been, but even when there is a certainty that a particular entity will win, you still treat the tournament and all opponents with respect and honour. YOU GUYS SHAT ALL OVER THAT.

I have just heard that Rory McIllroy, has demolished everyone in the US open (17 under par- which is HUGE) but he doesnt run around naked with a comedy blow up golf club throwing the golf balls around does he?

If Hydra/Outbreak partnership really was sorry, they would give up their prizes, but who am i kidding, they won't. The tournament is just an isk investment to people like this. Nothing matters apart from PROFIT, and it makes me sick.
I think ppl will agree, that yes, Garmon, Hydra and Outbreak were the most skilled in metagaimng, pewing, strategists BUT are they the best. **** no!

Yes, anyone who thinks this wasn't a huge blow to EVE and to CCP -- anyone who thinks the adolescent troll standard of "all's fair if you get away with it" is the final judgement -- just needs to play the end of the tourney again and look at the faces of the CCP panel. At the very least, there's going to be some explaining to do to their new rich uncles at Sony, as this looks like no way to attract new players and crack EVE's long-time ceiling.

I was tought at a young age that competition brings out the best in people. I was tought this in little league and although I had friends that were on an opposing team, they were well aware that I was going to give it my all. When stepping onto the field of battle, friendship goes right out the window. Win or lose, I knew that I did my best which gave me a sense of personal honor, pride, and self worth. Today's display was a joke on all those who watched. Not only did you lose respect for yourselves, but the respect of many of your fellow players.

As the comentators said repeatedly today...too little too late

You mean 'best team' won not teams don't you?

It takes two 'teams' to truly fight a match. What we saw was simple mastur bation.

Epic fail.

Ohh and thanks for making a mockery of the competitons to win graphics cards etc. I estimated Outbreak to win and they clearly did. So not only did you make a bad show if the final, but also of the sponsors and the side comps on the go at the time. So bravo to you. Do I accept the appology no I dont.

No they didn't, we knew what they were going to fly and could have countered it easily. Hydra were always going to win no matter what. Would you be happy if we had done that and just steam rollered them in the final and then you would have felt the same when it all came out in the wash at the end anyway.

You are kind of contradicting the OP.

But see, you got it - one team, just happened to win already in the semifinals.

BTW, PL tried to do this exact same thing - and failed. Tho, they probably would have managed to concentrate in the final for a better show. Bad luck for EVE there.

I'd say that they proved friendship is more valuable to them than victory, they didn't lose respect, they just earned it.

Too bad you don't see the bigger picture, or don't want too.

The EVE tourney is a TV Show too. And you failed horribly to entertain it's viewers thus make void EVE TV's crew hard work put in to this show.

Name one other sport in which throwing a game is counted an acceptable way to "prove friendship," much less an honorable way to play before a public audience.

All of you guys and teams have done excellent stuff despite some tricked matches for "x" or "y", but this is Eve.

I must say the last match was a little deception from what I was expecting from those awesome pilots: skill and teeth until the last standing ship

This said, I had tons of fun watching you guys on Eve-tv.

Hope next year meta games or arrangements are somehow excluded but it's Eve so, I just "hope" and hope is fine Laughing
