hydra/outbreak stomped through the tourney. regardless of what happened in the final, they are still the best small gang pvpers in eve. cry harder...

As a fairly new player to Eve I had my first experience today with watching this. All throughout I thought this was great, what a unique community this game offers, much different than other games of the like, and I was hooked. Then with that final battle I saw how it really isn't any different, and it left the taste in my mouth of how the big groups/high end players always pull shenanigans like that last battle. That really sucked, I was really pumped about trying to get involved in the process, then the wind completely left the sails. As a newer player I ask....why should I bother? What's wrong with an honest run? What's wrong with being 100% above board?

On a smaller scale this bs even makes the prizes for voting on the forums for each battle a joke....it's all biased.

If they are so awesome pvpers , then why is it so hard to put up a good show.
Well done reaching the finals to both teams, sad they are so poor pvpers that they cant even fix a match properly:(
Allso well done in being known as the first alliance who needs to order there alts to stop fireing to be able to win over them.

This is the first alliance tournament I bothered watching. CCP put a ton of effort into it, and all was good, till the final. Yall screwed CCP and given the sandbox environment its only appropriate CCP does the same. In my opinion they should give you the prizes, wait a day or two, then empty all of your assets, ISK, Plex, Ships, POSs, Fittings, Everything. Make ya start from square one, maybe even toast your skillpoints

I did have big achievement today but it feels like it was all taken away by what happened in the finals, I've disappointed kil2 and I've dissapointed my friends, every one that watched the finals including all of you

shows how carebear Eve is today, even the hardcore pvpers are allied up, I liked it before everyone was blue to everyone.
And really you shouldnt be really apologizing to us, its CCP that will feel this within 1-3 years, you probably cost them a lot of money tbh in the long run. I know I won't be watching another touney again, and even if just 10 % wont watch next year, thats a lot of viewers ccp will lose, which is bad for sponsers.

I'm also a new player, and the way that the final match unfolded, while not ideal, certainly did not dampen my enjoyment of all the great matches that came before it. I'd have to have a really short attention span, and be an alarmist, for that to happen. In fact, in a way it was interesting to see the meta gaming aspect of EVE come through, even if pew pew would have been preferred.

EVE got famous via scandals.
I think this will bring more attention towards EVE, thus more players, therefore more money for CCP.

Waiting for the Massively/TenTon article.

This makes no sense, sure theres scammers, but the people who watch EVETV do not watch it for this type of show. It will hurt the tournament for years to come.

I wouldnt be surprised if they made some type of arrangment with even PL for future, for them to take a dive.

I didn't bother watching the last match as I thought it'd be fixed. You didn't disappoint.

For once I feel a bit sorry for CCP, lot of effort for a slap in the face Neutral

Well done for winning though, every tourney is fixed to some extent. Maybe that's what CCP need to look at if they decide to run another tourney. I'd have a long hard think about that though were I CCP because that didn't do anything to showcase the game and arguably they'd be better off not running another.

Again though well done for winning. You had to get there to be able to fix the result in the first place.

You do not have to apologized, you showed simple how the tournament works and how to deal with getting the reward. It is no big deal with 4 teams from the same "alliance".

the tournament is complete bull****, only funny part is the eve tv. also worth a laugh when PL and hydra commentators try to explain the "advantages" of a team. really interesting in a faked tournament.

To the general EVE Community - using this comment as a launchpad.

Let's be clear.

There was no meta-gaming going on here.

Get over using a buzzword to describe which is nothing more than a few people agreeing to do something together.

There was no "game" in this act.

There was no "meta" in the act.

It was a few people AGREEING to do something. That's as basic as it gets.

META-GAMING implies that there was a game within the game - such as spying, sneaking around, etc.

There was no game, there was no meta, and there sure as hell is nothing to make out to be glorious.

Any 2 people can agree to do something, sometimes, it turns out that they make themselves out to be total asses.

So no, get over this concept that they won by playing some superior "game". They made an agreement - they were friends. And they clearly have no sense of style. Period.

Uh, total non-sense.

You tell the damn Vindicator pilot to self-destruct.

And then lose the fight.

You were selfish you didn't really give a #@#@% and all you wanted was the prize. Lame, stupid and ignorant. There's no sympathy.

"Decided to give us the win"...

Uh, whatever - you already said you had planned it. You were planning on making it a good fight, you were planning on this planning on that.

Whatever, you decided before the fight ever happened who was going to win - and you weren't even able to follow through or have some integrity.

Sorry. Bunch of people are claiming you did it for the tears - whatever, clearly this sad story is where the QQ really is.

It amuses me greatly, that with all the months of WH logistics, hours a day of testing, long nights theory crafting that you people still think Hydra and Outbreak were in this alliance to make a good show for you. No, they were in to win.

This was never about you getting a good match out of the finals. Given the 20 mins at the end left to prepare that last match I think they did ok getting two full teams sorted with ships.

But in the end, that was only ever a favour to the viewers. Never required, but an attempted gift. Given the way the match could have gone if they'd WANTED to screw the viewers over? Be entertained and leave it for next year. There were awesome matches, and Hydra and Outbreak did awesomely to get where they are.

Bask in the glory Garmon, you deserve it.

My only complaint about the final, is that it wasn't funny. Kinda fell flat, instead of being an OMG DID YOU SEE WHAT THEY DONE LOL!!! event. Big congratulations on the work you put in practising, manipulating, and fighting. To conceive of a plan to fight your own alts in the final and pull it off is amazing. But you are bad actors.

Genos certainly came a long way since we founded it and lived in Hakonen shooting the Black Rabbits & Morsus Mihi...

Wanted to congratulate all the players who took part in the tournament and to the Hydra and 0utbreak players that got both their teams into the finals.

Little disappointing that it didn't go as planned but just shows you can't take account for everything (ie mass perfectly aimed autocannon pwnage)! But having basically 2 Finals was great & the Outbreak/Darkside match was the best match I have seen in all AT, even better than BoB vs 10 Thorax.

didnt they prove that their metagaming is better than their pvp abilitys?
its part of eve and the tourney. i know and its ok. but such an obvious
rigging of an final is just sad and was no fun to watch.

and dont talk about you are sorry about what happened. if it was like that, you had selfdestructed your remaining ships. but i guess i wouldnt have either. ;)

I'm sorry, what? From what I keep hearing (and you've been posting butthurt in a few of the rage threads right now) Hydra Reloaded and their B team (equally as awesome Outbreak) planned Hydra's victory no matter what. I see nothing wrong in carrying this through via a sole Vindicator piloted by the epic Laedy (which was a privilege unto itself, since this is her first time in an AT, ever).

It was absolutely flawless planning, just a botched execution (which in itself has generated its own threadcascade epicosity). It's amazing to see so much rage in a single mess-up when everything else had been pulled off so perfectly. What do you expect these people to be, robots? Last time I hear, botting is frowned upon.

In the finals fight, Outbreak showed not only the rarest traits of Loyalty, Selflessness and Friendship in Eve-O, but also the fact they can stomp on Hydra's dreams if they wanted to, and didn't. I see none of this 'selfishness, lameness, stupidity and ignorance' you speak of.

Do yourself a favour - instead of complaining about a single error in the Grand Finals, go out, take a nice stroll in the sunshine, and seriously consider the necessary effort/sacrifices Hydra and Outbreak put into this AT to make it to the end.

Truly, Hydra's slogan is correct: The Best Ship is Friendship.

I expected an epic fight...first 2 mins and 2 Vindis down, holy crap Hydra is getting owned. Then all stops, and one lonely Vindy kills all. What bullsh-it.

Its like watching world soccer/football/whatever finals, when one team just lays on the floor/grass/whatever and doesn't play at all. What a victory.

You got to the finals, you might as well give the fight your best. But no, you made a **** poor performance of it, slapping the whole point of tournament in the face.
Honestly, i doubt i will watch the next year tournament, such blatant fixing matches, letting other side win so obviously...

What should people expect next year? Someone to light a cyno and hotdrop a whole alliance into a tournament mach? Its Eve, everything goes...right? Its not exactly in the rules not to do it?

What if Starcraft2 world finals played like this? One player not building 6th scv/drone/probe and doing nothing the whole time to throw the match or three in a row? Or CounterStrike? If CCP wants anyone to take this as a competition seriously, they should look seriously at this in the first place.
This was a disgrace to the EVE TV, to CCP, to sponsors (that gave prizes to be handed out for this crap) and all viewers.

Both Hydra and Outbreak should be DNFd, and have Darkside and Razor fight for first place.

i dont see lameness on outbreaks side but on hydras. its cool and bromantic what outbreak did. that does not make hydra accepting this less lame.

if hydra let outbreak win, everybody would have respected them for being the ones bringing ob and themselfe into the finals and beeing the cool guys letting the "better" team win. now hydra will always be the at winner of outbreaks grace,
beacuse in 6 month noone will remember the efford hydra put in the at, but everyone
will remember that OB gave the victory to hydra.

I don't think it's fair to criticise Hydra's demonstrated PvP and other abilities because of what happened in the final. Deserved congratulations for your hard work and performance in getting to the final.

However, I think you've taken "gaming the game" a little far. At some point, you have to question how much of the victory is due to piloting skills and how much is due to the gaming. You have certainly bent the rules by having what amounts to two teams from one alliance in the tournament.

We'll see what CCP does, but I imagine the next AT will be very different in rules and format if they want it to be more about the flying and less about the gaming.

In the meantime, I'll have to organise my own post-AT brawl to give all the mates who lost isk to me (I bet on Hydra of course) a chance to win it back fairly.

Hydra won the tournament with the first and second place. Congrats.

Good pilots, good pvp (you still have to get 2 teams in the finals to pull this off), metagaming, inter-alliance loyalty makes for a good tournament.

This is EVE. OK, the finals could have had a better show, but that is just a minor detail.

To all the whiners: better get your own team in the finals if you don't want this sort of thing to happen.

Eve is a complex political game and I enjoyed the way it played out immensely. It was ironic that out of all the teams you friends ended up fighting in the final and then demonstrated the intricacies of friendship. I could see it wasn't going the way you wanted as I was watching the wgoe chat and Laedy seemed a bit perplexed at what was happening lol. But I think this is EVE at its best and you should never need to apologize for that. Congratz on the double win, it was awesome!

I got a lot of pleasure watching Outbreak & Darkside charging through the lists, I shall naturally be placing my support firmly with Darkside next year.
