Free market economy...yeah, that works well doesn't it? How many billions to bail out all the failed banks, how many forclosures and how many unemployed caused by a lack of liquidity in markets does it take to show this system is fundementally flawed?

BTW, putting CCP into the same category as a corporate isn't logical- it's a company that exists because the consumers want something and pay it to make it, not a company that exists to make consumers want something...

BTW, downloading update as we speak :)

Well I'm sure I'm going to get my head bitten off for this but for all those complaining that they don't want this update, well....you aint the only ones playing the game, I'm sure for other people there have been previous updates that you liked and they couldn't care less about.

Personally I like change, like it or not Eve doesn't pull in astounding subscription numbers, it's pretty good and has been sustainable for eight years odd now but it's still low considering it is the ONLY premium space MMO available and has been for eight years (F2P's like Black Prophecy don't count).

So trying to make the game appeal to a wider audience is a good thing.

More players = More money in CCP's pocket = More money to further develope Eve online.

Right now it's a niche game, for a niche market.

As for the update and downtime, I accept that Stackless Python config is a pain in the rear and that these updates are rarely simple, but as everyone has stated, if this happens everytime then you need to plan longer downtimes or find a different way of updating.

This issue about deploying a new expansion that takes longer than what was originally expected, CCP should adopt the policy Star trek's Commander Scott had for so many years. Quote a long time and if you come in before that, you are a "miracle worker." If not, no big deal.

As far as not knowing to put in to your skill queue a multi-day skill to train.. EvE's opening screen has had the date Icarna was coming and if you checked your computer's current date to see what day it was, exactly whose fault is it that you did not plan ahead?

I would like to suggest that you have patch day. Just announce that eve "could" be down an entire day, please plan accordingly. There the expectation is set and your clients will wander out of doors and reintroduce themselves to friends and family, maybe eat a hot meal or perhaps speak to someone who doesn't know what an incursion is.

This is a very valid idea and they should consider it. There would still be whining but there always is. Another way, though less advisable from a business standpoint, is to take an old engineering approach. When the supervisor asks how long a particular task is that he has no knowledge of, tell him it will take 3-4 times as long as it actually does. That way you're done ahead of schedule with available room in case things go wrong.

Ah ha, actually I do have control over CCP...let me introduce you to the power of the people. Watch this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbbYbXS4zRM

When I first saw the link it didn't actually take me anywhere but I wanted to see your input so I manually entered it. If you really think trying to band everyone together to try to threaten CCP is going to work, good luck to you. I really mean that. However, here's why I don't believe it will work.

During this entire thread of people complaining both at the downtime and at each other, I've seen maybe 12 or people not just frustrated or annoyed but fully angered or enraged over the matter. Now I could be a fair bit off so in interest of simpler math as well as allowing for my own errors (as I do not wish to go through every page of this again) I'm bringing it up to 20, an extra 67% over what I figured. Now there are likely people that have read this thread that feel the same way but for whatever reason haven't posted. This could be that they feel the point has already been made or don't want people firing back at them or so on. Let's give a rough estimate of 50 people agreeing per person that posted.

So we've got a total of one thousand people ready to up and threaten CCP that they will take their money and move on. That's $15,000 a month lost revenue. Seems like a good hit at first.

CCP reported over 225,000 players in 2008.Source Data

CCP also reported over 360,000 players in January of this year. Source Data

If we were to look at this as a roughly linear progression they are gaining 45,000 people a year. Your little 0.27% of the customer base that up and leaves will be replaced in 8 days.

not too be a stickler on your point, but, 100,000 people multiplied by $15 a month, is $1.5 million, not 15k

20 people in forum multiplied by 50 people per person in forum is 1,000 people. 1,000 people times $15 per month is $15,000.

Hmmm.... Come to think of it. I think this is the first expansion i've experienced that wasnt preceded by an expansion trailer. And I've been playing since Revelations.

THis is called the Scotty manuevre...in the original star trek Scotty always multiplied the time it would take to make repairs x4. When your late it's your fault when you complete the work early your a hero.Very Happy

20 people in forum multiplied by 50 people per person in forum is 1,000 people. 1,000 people times $15 per month is $15,000.

What you are forgetting is that there are only actually 1000 people that play EVE, all the rest of the characters are simply alts.

An Eve addiction is a beautiful thing (except during down time, then it's like trying to disarm a bomb with ravenous wolves trying to break through your front door to eat you, lol). I get my fix in T-Minus 2 minutes...

+1 because it's true... I am the only person I know who has only one character on Eve... And I'm being for real...

I think you need to delete a CCP folder in your "Roaming" folder, but I'm not sure... Open a support ticket...

I love CCP, they really listen to bug reports. This bug was fixed but I only reported it 5 days ago:

Mining drones now return to the drone bay, if that option is selected, after completing their cycle. Previously they would return to the ship but remain outside in an idle state.

So if you see something and you're 99% sure it's a bug and it can be fixed CCP will listen to you.

I hoping CCP give us our time back and a few Skill points to spend.... Took a whole day off to play this and was given some wisdom. That in future take a day off after downtime. Its strange though because CCP is a business and I was wondering is downtime like a service level agreement (SLA), the customer being us? Food for thought.....?Twisted Evil
