Well if you take it that way...
I suppose you can "do other stuff" besides waiting.
Then it makes it more of a choice, doesnt it.
Stay here and wait,, or do other stuff.

I'd like to play EVE, I'm paying for this time. we are approximately 15 hours past "normal" downtime, and nearly 5 hours past the original posted completion time. I don't think I'm being unreasonable questioning what is taking so long? Yet I am compelled to sit here and wait for something only a minority of eve players even care about.

DT is NOT extended to 23:30, according to: http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp

"EVE Online: Incarna 1.0 is currently being deployed. The database updates are taking longer than expected, and therefore the downtime has been extended. We expect to open Tranquility to the players at 21:30 UTC. Thank you for your understanding."

As you can see the status has not changed from the last update, it's still 21:30 UTC...

watch the dev incarna thread, theyre giving step by step updates and the last one was extension too 2330

EVE Online: Incarna 1.0 is currently being deployed. Database updates took longer than expected, and have performed additional updates to a level one mission arc. This has resulted in an extended downtime. We expect to open Tranquility to the players at 23:30 UTC. Thank you for your understanding.

Come on, CCP!!

A whole day has gone...the countdown was a total flaw...I had expected the Incarna release was timed with the countdown...A whole day...I guess it will be tomorrow afternoon I will be able to install Incarna...

At least you guys should have timed the countdown right...

Thank you for your patience...I have no patience after the third correction of time....more like frustration....

Thank you for your frustration :)

Hey... I have an idea then...why don't we all just get forced to pay for the 15 FREE expansions that EVE has provided over the years...I think a lost day doesnt add up to the 30-40 bucks games like Warcraft make you pay for theirs...

Just sayin...but I like the free aspect of it all...it shows commitment, not to mention don't you think that they would all love to go home and rest like the rest of the business world instead of working solid?

What I'm surprised about is that CCP hasn't learned from previous updates, I totally understand that database issues may cause the update to take longer but... this happens EVERY... SINGLE... TIME, why not just say the servers will be up at 2330 from the start and skip all the whining, if there's always database issues, it might be an idea to expect them and plan ahead, if the servers come up sooner than predicted, you'll look like champions Twisted Evil

And this is why I set an 18 day skill queue. The hamsters always get overworked and start falling off their wheels for expansions. To all the people new to EVE. Welcome to CCP patch work.

So when your boss tells you that he "expects" you to finish a project by a certain deadline and you don't what usually happens? When a construction project is expected to finish by a certain date and doesn't what happens? When you are expected to show up in court for not paying your child support and you don't show up what happens? (I know you have issues with this). There are consequences when you fail to meet expectations. Please tell me what is the result of failed expectations with this game?

I'm sorry to inform you that these situations are not identical. Allow me to elaborate.

Firstly when a person becomes employed by a place of business often times they are the ones to have to sign the terms, not the employer. This is diametrically opposite of the client/service, since the receiver of the money has to do the signing. The employer has not signed a form that allows the provider of the work to change the deadline as they need. If the employee fails at meeting deadline it is within the employer's right to terminate employment, as you are free to stop paying CCP for their service.

When a construction company takes on a job they sign a contract setting a legally reinforced completion date. If it is not completed the company is dropped from the contract without being paid. Again here the receiver of the money is the primary signer of the agreement, with the hiring body signing merely to say the company will be paid upon completion.

As for your third example, since it both is a feeble attempt at a personal attack and not a cash for service situation, I do not feel obligated to explain it to you.

What we have with an EVE Online account has a very distinct difference with the above situations: You are both the one to sign the agreement and the one supplying money. If you do not like the results you are free to move on to a different game, as the boss would hire a new employee or the hiring body would hire a new construction company. What you have not seemed to grasp is that you do not have control of CCP at all. You are the one that agreed to their terms, not the other way around. As such, you can be as angry as you feel justified, but it will not make a single difference because you are bound to that agreement whether to read it or not. You scrolled to the bottom and clicked accept. Therefore, you can either accept the delay or move on to another game.

Ah, love this game.
Name: EVE ONline?
Suggestion: EVE OFFline?

Anyway, to the DEVs etc, keep going, we appreciate that your working as hard as you can!

Maybe for future patches, accept that we really only want to mine, mission and blow other people up (primarily) and that it really is a waste of time trying to make the inside of stations look pretty.
I know you need to work on something, I just wonder if there are other things out there that could use a little more attention?

Just as an aside, could you look at getting missiles to launch from the wings/missile launchers, rather than the cockpit?

Much love to you all for your hard work Very Happy

Ok, at $15 per month for eve in approximately 3 months you would have enough to buy a $50 new release game. So you would be buying a minimum of 3 new games a year, we have what 1 expansion a year?.....somehow that math doesn't seem to add up for me. How is this free again?

LOL, I'm pretty sure I'm capable of installing some coding from a command line... I wouldn't say I definitely can (depends on the coding and the command line UI ((I prefer less of a UI and more of just a command line))) but I believe myself to be more than capable of this, yes...
