Tried the new account management site this afternoon using Opera Mini running on a Vega Android Tablet with Android 2.2

General usage was OK but I encountered a couple of problems;

Tapping the ‘Edit Account Information’ item did not do anything and did not go to the account update page.

‘Change Payment Method' seemed to work ok.

Tapping the ‘Log Out’ item did not log me out of the account management site and I had problems use the soft back button to get back to the home page. I ended up using the hard back button to step back page by page to the home page and then tapping the Log Out item worked.

Just for your info.

Is it just me, or can we no longer have firefox remember account names?

If it isn't just me, please fix whatever is preventing it.

awesome new look.

perhaps make the recent account activity a little easier to find (its hiding at the bottom, id' expect it in the navigation tabs under "account")

here's what I'd love to see next...

1:IP access restrictions configurable through account management
2:configurable application of security key requirement to account management, game login, and community
3:separate account management login from game account logins able to link and manage multiple game accounts.

C'mon people, you roll out a new SECURE tool and you don't remember to buy a valid SSL cert for the URL?

Here's a hint (or three):
http://www.verisign.com/ssl/buy-ssl-certificates/
https://www.thawte.com/products/
http://www.entrust.net

Here's a hint:
Check the bottom right hand corner of the window (if you're in firefox.) See the little lock icon? It is verisign.

Looks great! Unfortunately, I'm having some issues selecting a different payment method in IE 8. Selecting a different payment method simply does nothing. Works fine in chrome.

Opened it to take a look. Something looked a little fishy to me... it seemed to be timing out downloading a script from <somthing>.sp1.ru4.com on the account home page (after logging in). Didn't like the look of it so closed the window (hence don't know exactly what it was). Anyone else get this?

Logged into the account UI and the clicked the "Log Out" link in the top navigation. I'm logged out, but only half-way.

I can still use my browser's back button to go back to my account's information page and see my real name, etc. That is very poor security and every other commerce-based web site I use will deny me access to those sensitive details until I re-enter my access credentials.

Browser used Firefox 3.x (fully patched) on a PC.

The newly-deployed changes include a complete visual overhaul, giving a consistent look and feel to the site
Consistency across which sites? Most of the EVE web properties have different UIs and this is yet another distinct look / feel.

TBPFH, this effort looks less like a "hey, we are giving you a better way to do commerce with CCP" than a "wow, we better re-write our **** because: a) of increased intrusion attempts and our sorely outdated commerce interfaces are vulnerable or b) we needed to add another way to r a p e serve our customers with the new EVE Gold currency offering.

CCP, you need to do better work and more comprehensively address your web properties rather than these spot efforts (YAF? one-off commerce interface?)

When will be "iDeal" supported for buying the PLEX?

For the people interested in this - I checked into it, and adding iDEAL and PayPal as payment methods for purchasing PLEX is already on the backlog to do. I don't have any definite dates or confirmation for you, but all going well we hope to see this happen in the coming weeks. :)

I'm probably being paranoid - ru4.com seems to be an online conversions company (www.xplusone.com). Be nice if can CCP confirm these scripts are supposed to be there :)

(I do wish some analytics companies would make their URLs less dodgy looking)

Hi,

I have quite a few issues with the new site. I'll skip the part about the suboptimal user interface.

I pay the game with PLEXes so:

1) I can not determine which status my accounts have from reading the site, or its hidden too much. (I know for a fact that they all are 'cancelled')
2) ../CancelSubscription.aspx : You have no active subscription.
May be true but how do I check it on the site, see point 1.
3) ../UpdateSubscriptionInterval.aspx : You cannot change your subscription unless you are an actively paying user.
Why not exactly? Related to point 4.
4) Change payment method from PLEX to CC isn't possible because to do that I need to buy some gametime first. That is a guess. So to continue with automatic CC payments after my PLEX gametime ends is not possible.
5) I cannot check the CC information you do have of me, and I sure would like to be able to do that. Let alone change or remove it.
6) Reactivate the account with a Plex through Account Management as possible on the old site I can't find on the new one.
7) Only when I select "Buy Plex" i can find out I have already several PLEXes in the redeeming system. The menu choice is kinda illogical.
8) The wiki is still about the old interface. If you start a new site, at least make sure the 'help pages' are up to date.
9) ???
10) Profit/Loss ... ugh

The reason for the certificate failures is the changing of the URL.

If you have bookmarked the old URL https://secure.eve-online.com/Default.aspx (so did I) you get a certificate failure.

The new URL https://secure.eveonline.com/AccountManMenu.aspx has a valid certificate.

@CCP perhaps a forwarding would be good in cases of changing an URL.

I was not expecting such a huge change to the style. The current EVE site is a solid design, but it's starting to look dated for a space game that takes place in the super-future. I really like the updates we are seeing to the EVE websites, especially this modern style.

I also have to ask the following question though
Originally by: Lan Staz
Looks good, but why does every new CPP Eve site have a different look & feel?

www.eveonline.com
gate.eveonline.com
wiki.eveonline.com
secure.eveonline.com

4 sites (including 3 reasonably new ones), 4 completely different user experiences. Is there no site design strategy that every new site should follow?

You can even add the DUST 514 site to that list if you want (ok, maybe it should look really different since technically it's a different game). I can understand why EVE gate has it's own style. It's really a separate entity; a user portal that is an extension of the game client. I expect them to move over more things from the main EVE site to EVE gate (I think they said dev blogs are going there). I agree though that the interfaces should me more unified. For example, I would like to see the main site move in the direction of the secure site style (e.g. bug reports, client download, back-story, etc) and things that are character dependent move into eve gate. (One question I have is whether the wiki should should move to EVE gate.)

Really, I don't think there is any reason to have more then two core styles: one for the eve website, and one for EVE gate.

It's so much nicer! Thanks CCP.

I did a double take when paying today, as I was worried it was a phishing site for a minute due to the vast change in appearance.

Worked great for me.

As you can re-customize your face at any time, I think that feature is no longer required.

It looks much better than before. Good job.

One hint, though (from a professional web developer):

When you want to extend game time, you'll get "Select Product", "Payment Method", "Confirmation" and "Receipt" bar at the top of the page. Currently, you can't click on some step to go directly back to it (if, for example, you'd like to change the billing period but you already got to the "Payment Method page"). The only way to go back using the interface is to click on "Go back" button which is, by default, outside of the page.

Image: Account Management

Magento's one page checkout is the prime example of how it should work (if you had contact with Magento).

edit:
To clarify. "Go back" button can stay where it is now, if you can click on the bar describing a step on the top of the page.

I really hope whatever dev team made this they weren't the incompetent losers that made spacebook and the new forums. The incompetent stink on the web team's hands makes me extremely nervous that they have even touched the account management page. I'm debating if that's reason enough to cancel my subs and retire my credit cards.

I'll petition this, but just raising the issue here: on the Account Management page, CCP claims that I have 1 day left on my current PLEX. Ingame, I'm told that my Pilot's Licence is currently in order. On the ingame character selection page there is no warning about game time running out.

The page shows "Account Type: Active - Paying with Use PLEX", but "Current Subscription: Active Game Time Recurring". How can "Paying with Use PLEX" be "recurring"?

Turns out that if you have previously paid with a credit card (ever) and then subsequently paid using any form, your "subscription" status is still 'recurring' and you have to cancel the subscription even though your payment type is "Use PLEX".

Even after cancelling the subscription, I still see no warnings about imminent expiry of game time, either in the character selection screen or the "Pilots Licence" section of the character sheet.

Thank goodness I checked the account management page :)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE:

Add PayPal support for purchasing PLEX!
You support it for renewing game time, I don't understand why this is not supported for PLEX. PayPal is my preferred payment method for online games, and really helps reduce CCP's liability as no personal billing information is stored on their end, I would think it would be in CCP's best interest to have this available for all services.

Thanks CCP Alice, saw this after my post. D'oh. I am VERY happy to see Paypal is in the works, this will definitely get you some more business from me, as the only reason I have never bought any PLEX in the past 2 years of me playing the game was the lack of PayPal support.

Keep up the good work CCP! You guys have really been working hard, and this game is really starting to become more accessible and attractive. I may finally be able to invite friends with the buddy system again if you keep it up. :-) People who wrote EVE Online off as needlessly complicated and boring years ago are starting to take notice and considering coming back.

Have you actually tried that? It is a damn lie.

Yes, you can change cosmetic appearances, such as hair style and color. You can change facial expression for the portrait. You can NOT go in and change the shape of your face, etc.

So now I have lost the one means that I had to change my appearance, which was to develop the face I wanted on an alt and swap them.

I ran into a bug with Safari 5, which is my usual browser. The Game Time navigation drop down is missing 2 links in Safari, it does not display the Cancel Subscription link or the Change Subscription Plan link. With Safari, as far as I can tell, there is actually no possible way to cancel one's account.

It's not that I have any intent to cancel but I was testing out the site and one of my pet peeves is when subscription services hide away the cancel button, so I took notice when I couldn't find it at all until I tried the page in Firefox.
