...other than just using box standard malware scanning applications?

Also - I am running Comodo Firewall. Wouldn't that pick up this sort of thing, if my PC was really infected?

You have suspicions that you are running a ddos virus? Your internet gets freaky in weird times or something?

I think a standard antivirus can pick up the most common malware.
