You guy's did a good job by Detecting the attack, and then shutting off the network access etc :)

So yeah good job all in all!

No risk of the "attacker" getting any info if they can't access the network :P

*hugz for CCP*

OUTSTANDING, I hope you can track these individuals down and skin them alive. Or at least toss them out an airlock. Glad you were able to stop them in their tracks and ensure the security of all concerned. Now that I got my arms and legs, How about a room to try them out in :)

I would not doubt at the least we came under attack due to the war on sony. I read that dust was gonna be on one of sonys game systems. Sony is bad and there is a hacker war goin on against them. They did some pretty rotten things to good people on sonystation games. SWG for one instant. I played SWG for almost 6 years till it went down, so i quit, deleted the game and went to EVE full time. They lost my 3 accounts and i now have 3 accounts on Eve. Beware of sony. I wouldnt touch them with a houndred foot pole at this point.
Thanx EVE for lookin out for our assets. Good job. Randy aka-Yakyuk

Lulzsec needs to be podded.... and have all their clone contracts revoked. Then a Moros capital ship needs to assume assault orbit over their homes and their families homes and open fire until nothing but vapor remains.

Nooo. we don't want to kill them...
takes all the fun out of it if your opponent is dead. means they can't appreciate the fact that they have lost...
no you strap them into a life support machine, remove their eyelids, pump them full of steroids, and play Disney films to them on an endless loop.

The amount of incoming connections causing the flooding of traffic is because of all the DRF/WN/Ev0ke etc botters trying to log back in....CCP's war on bots calling it now :p

LulzSec took down systems at the Escapist, Eve Online, Minecraft and League of Legends Tuesday during a three-hourlong distributed denial-of-service rampage that left gamers annoyed and the Lulz hackers crowing.

"Welcome to #TitanicTakeoverTuesday where everyone is laughing at crybabies getting Lulz Cannoned!" the hacking group said during one of its many Twitter messages documenting the online assault.

LulzSec emerged out of nowhere last month and immediately embarked on a series of high-profile hacking attacks, stealing data from Sony and game-maker Bethesda Softworks and compromising computers at the U.S. Senate and the Public Broadcasting Service, among others.

Unlike the better-known Anonymous hacking group, LulzSec doesn't appear to have any particular political motivation behind its attacks. The group takes its name from Lulz -- hacker speak for "laughs" -- and often appears to be hacking just for the fun of it.

Tuesday's attack started at the Escapist, an online magazine whose forums had swelled with angry comments after the Bethesda hack. "I want them caught and punished, a few years in jail for people like that would be hell," wrote Escapist forum member Psychicflash666 before the site was taken down.

An Escapist spokesman said that access to the company's website was "intermittent" for three hours Tuesday because of the attack. "Our system administrators are still reviewing the situation to assess whether anything occurred other than a DDoS attack," he said in an e-mail message.

After its attack on the Escapist, LulzSec invited people to call in via telephone and recommend new targets. It then began attacking gaming sites Eve Online, Minecraft and League of Legends. The hackers also said that they hit FinFisher, an IT intrusion monitoring company owned by Gamma Group.

Late Tuesday Eve Online and the Escapist websites remained offline, but League of Legends, Minecraft and FinFisher were all operational.

"And that concludes our DDoS party: Escapist Magazine, Eve Online, Minecraft, League of Legends + 8 phone requests. #TitanicTakeoverTuesday," LulzSec said in a Twitter message.

An hour later, LulzSec was again inviting followers to call in. "Now accepting calls from true lulz fans - let's all laugh together at... gamers. "

I personally support any action that CCP will take to protect EVE's integrity.

I also feel that we should retaliate against Lulzsec for their childish bastard-ery, excuse my language. If there is an Anti-lulzsec alliance, I'll happily join.

reported by CCP Manifest | 2011.06.15 00:10:04 | NEW

Shortly after service was restored to the EVE Online Tranquility server, the CCP Security Task force became aware of ongoing traffic flooding which prompted them to take the server offline. We apologize for the inconvenience but feel this step was warranted in order to protect our customers and the service we provide to them. We are continuing to monitor the situation diligently and will bring the game servers online again only when we feel it is safe to do so. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Guess we should count our blessings.. While this game was more fortionate than other games that were hacked today. CCP should pass along its security measures.. when you detect a DDOS, unplug servers.

Everyone can thank LULZ hackerz for the fun for today.. you can google what other games where hit today

Noooooo! And I had just finished celebrating the return of service! :(

I'm quite sure there are many of us who would LOVE to find these "LulzSec" guys, and, uh... have a chat.

Btw, Miilla is the biggest troll ever, who never leaves Rens and is always spamming contracts like it was going out of style, so please don't ever listen to a single thing she has to say, because she's not usually saying anything worthwhile or constructive anyway. ;)

From what i have researched on the net, some hacking group that calls themselves Lulzsec is bragging about being the cause of this incident. They are also claiming credit for the Playstation Network going down a while ago too. I would personally like to see these kinds of malicious hackers prosecuted to the fullest extent of their laws. It's not like they were hacking information that the government was trying to hide or cover up. lol these people took down a few video game servers. lol. and they think themselves epic. "LULZ" is all i have to say about them :)

edit:
guess i'm a little late to the party LOL, just repeating what everyone else already seems to know.

You say our data is safe, and not compromised.

I believe in the early stages sony said the same thing, so I don't really feel comforted by CCP's assurances.

What are Lulzsec motives for this attack?

Well, tho it is extremely annoying, I understand that CCP has to secure the server above all else. I bet its some Russian doing it :)
Anywaz, just goes to show how addicting this game is when one realizes when there is no Eve.... and one says... Now What?!?!?

If its down more than 24 hours we are all screwed! wheres my Xbox 360?

I have to agree. A few hours of lost game time was a great time to get outside. In any case a quick response to a DDoS is way more important, you personal data can cause you thousands of REAL money.
