IMO

What happened last night was pretty stupid on the part of Lulz. They are playing the tune those that would like to regulate the internet want to hear while alienating those that would normaly support this kind of action if done for the right reasons to the right orginisations.

IMO it was a pretty smart move because it reframes their media image from "cyber-terrorists attacking our most holy institutions" to "script-kiddies overstepping boundaries while having a bit of fun".

Now I will never pretend to be hacker savvy by any means. I was under the impression lulz took the servers down not CCP. But whichever the case may be..... these idiots need to be found and well....buried. No trials no jail just gone. Ya I know it wont happen and my view is harsh but the only good hacker is a (fill in the blank) hacker

feel free to flame me I probably deserve it.

constantly getting dc'd every 30 mintues since logging on this morning.

When I checked my firewall log its blocking **** loads of pings from Eve US voice server. I mean litterally 4 per minute constantly even when I close the client down.

Is this normal ? i dont think so. I mean is anyone else getting regularly disconnected ?

Thank you CCP for your quick action and your general professionalism about this whole thing. While some of the other sites hit went quiet, you let us know what was happening, took quick action to guarantee the safety of your customers, and got things going again as fast as possible. Today was a shining example of CCP doing everything right, and why you deserve my 15$ a month. Thank you.

I second this. Sucks to have been unable to access Eve or the forums all day, but well worth the wait knowing that CCP was taking extreme precaution with our universe and our personal information. Kudos!

in a given situation ask "who benefits from this?"

to give an example, a person or entity looking to generate popular support for a more draconian policing and regulation of the internet would be well placed as a result of all these attacks.

not to mention using that example that a regulated internet is a taxed internet.

It is also an internet where social networking cannot have an impact on a countries current laws for example concerning superinjunctions.

who? those who hacked or those who use outdated protection. don't be so quick to blame hackers, they do a very important job when it comes to networks. if we ever get to the stage where computers and information is safe, that will be because of the hackers.

its very clear the last few weeks, alot of sys admins and company really don't give a rats bum to our information. using outdated software, not being bothered to patch KNOWN exploits, i could go on about this subject.

The only downside to what is going on, is big company are now in bed with governments trying to make the internet into a fish pond. and sadly support is now growing, these groups are dead on right, it is a war.

and why do people call them hackers, a hacker is someone who hacks into software, a cracker is someone who cracks into networks.

last few years tho people don't refer to crackers and use hackers for everything :S

i'd blame sony, for using outdated security patches which they knew about. and i'd blame sony for not encrypting all user information, i'd blame sony for poor customer care. sony was hit hard for a whole different reason though and was also thought to be multi groups.

There is a difference between a hacker benevolently hacking into systems without stealing jack but just to report the failures of the security and morons who try to **** as many people up as they can by exploiting every security failure.

And if it wasn't for the latter we wouldn't need top notch security on the net anyway.

And I blame Nato-Lulzsec for exploiting that and putting customers at risk. They did no favours.

I don't care why they did it, fact is, they did it, and a lot of innocent people suffered from it. Their target was Sony, the people that paid, was the customers.

Anon didn't actually hack Sony, others did. Anon is political, and goes after political targets. Not consumers.

They need to find new laws to approve their existence and show they do something like freedom restrictions every day by the sake of your false security. For the meanwhile they tell you what to eat to drink how to drive how to breath and how to have sex.

Be a good sheep. Support them and their holy economies making you a better slave each and every day. Laughing
