For anyone who wants it, this is a live network status map of KPN (Dutch Eurorings operator)

All routes are operational with decent ping times.

http://www.kpn-international.com/network/performancemap

I can also ping the IP where my connection fails, so its being blocked

If that means what i think it does... CCP has banned Eurorings...

Yep its probably the network used for the attack and they noticed it going through the logs.

Yeah... TQ may be up for some of the playerbase, but it's not for me.

I've run a tracer and I get a beautiful TIME OUT for each and every hop.

C:\Users\Radu>tracert 87.237.38.200

Tracing route to 200.38.237.87.rev.ccp.cc [87.237.38.200]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 * * * Request timed out.
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.
...
30 * * * Request timed out.

Trace complete.

C:\Users\Radu>

Dude...your intarwebz is down....srsly, you don't even get a response from your OWN router...

I can connect to everything on the interwebz just fine... Even the EVE website and forums, so yeah, strange...

I think a polite nothing is better than "Tranquility has been returned to service." but you still cannot get on and we will not tell you why or when you can get back on.

Just tell us it's f*&ked and will not be fixed until the morning shift comes in.

To make another quote...

Its not problem of CCP .. as you can see from those traceroutes on this thread... So they cant fix it... its up to providers and their network engineers to fix it and they wont do so if they still see something fishy... aka eliminating source of the problem while keeping functionality...

Everyone had better get to scanning and making sure there computers are clean so the group haven't got any bots to control...... until then, the group has ammo they can use Evil or Very Mad

Well I can't connect still... Western Canada

Any recommendations for good free antivirus's? Used my bog standard Norton and it came back with nothing... wondering if a secondary scan is in order?

Oh, and tried the trace, but the command prompt closed itself down after 7 hops without completing the trace... Any ideas?

That means KPN are horrible... it takes them a little longer to realize that what they say is not entirely true..." personal experience "...

But it could mean different things... too not that CCP "forced drop" them but the next provider did.

To repeat what I said earlier:

CCP will have no control of this situation, they can't give an ETA or any additional information. Even the chances of them being able to contact the ISP in question to get an answer is incredibly unlikely.

Considering the nature of the problem, the primary way it could be diagnosed would be through us, as we've managed to do.

This is not a reflection on CCP in any way, this should be easy to grasp, they don't control the backbones of the Internet =P

Well, It's never connected that way before, What happened to the Eastern USA link? Has that just disappeared or has Atlanta suddenly fallen victim to a DDos attack of thier own? Makes no sense If we were able to get on after the servers were brought back online, then Eve dissapears from our screens to come back to Satus unknown. Considering what happened today I wouldn't be surprised if they're still having other issues not soely pertaining to a Canada link or an ISP issue.

Mostly likely the ISP that receives the US traffic is having problems.
Router Issues or something as stupid as somebody back-hoed the fiber.
Don't laugh it can and has happened.

ISP are not very susceptible to DDOS attacks, different hardware then servers.
DDOS are extremely easy to kill @ the router level as compared to the end user server level.
So my bet is on a hardware Issue.

I don't know about scrubbing. Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware only pick up old stuff and most of the time the resident shield would have picked up anything in their database. Personnally my money is on the 110mb windows update i got shortly after that whole attack thing.

Your evemone "database" is connected from elsewhere through different route. I would have guessed... or actually connected to entirely different IP /API Database .. not sure..

I can ping and trace-route to SISI just fine but TQ is blocked... CCP must be blocking traffic in that direction specifically. Eastern US here.

statistically given a max number of eve users of around 350k, a botnet of 1 million pc's, and an internet of billions of pc's... the overlap of people who play eve and were part of the botnet that brought it down is going to be pretty small.

(assuming conservatively 2 billion connected PCs worldwide, and 350k eve player PC's and 1 Million PC's in the botnet... eve users represent 0.0175% of total PC's on the internet, and the bot net accounting for 0.05% of the computers on the internet. You would expect given that around 175 eve users who were part of the botnet.... on average.)

Still well worth checking for viruses anyway.

That would mean as long as you live in the middle of nowhere you can connect? Heavliy compromised hops would have been cut leaving only the smaller less relevant ones.
