Yes, another agentfinder Smile

Since Peter Powers is currently occupied with battle reports, I got time to finally finish my agentfinder the way I want it.

Please check it out and tell me what you think: Agentfinder
or directly at http://www.evepanel.net/agentsfinder.html

Feature set:
  • Filter by Region, Constellation, System, Faction, Corporation, Type, Division and Research.
  • Based on ExtJS, so it has all those cool features the framework offers like, autocomplete on comboboxes, resizing and reordering or the columns etc.
  • Buttons on the top right: Like any other agentfinder, this one can set the filter via URL parameters, but those URLs are automatically shortened via bit.ly, so you don't have to paste a huge link into the chat when a rookie asks for agent XY
  • The settings window let you define your standings, skills and current position, for filtering only available agents, distance calculation / sorting and distance filtering.
  • The fullscreen option extends the finder panel to the entire viewport. Good for IGB or if you simply don't like the rest of my site.
  • IGB integration: When trusting the site, the grid has an additional "actions" column, were you can display the info window of the agent, set your APs destination to the agents system and it pre - fills your location setting.

I know there are still a few gremlins hiding in, I am working on them right now, but I would like to hear your feedback.

Looks good.

My thoughts...
  • Place "Current System" option in the left column (above "Max Jumps")
  • Filter the filters based on previous selections (i.e. Choosing a Region limits constellation list to that region)
  • In Game - Is it possible to auto-retrieve character location or standings/skills? (I'm guessing not, but don't know)
  • Add an option to copy results to the system clipboard
  • Min/Max sliders ... LOVE THEM!!! Very Happy

Trenker, Tremendous stuff. I like the min/max sliders. Few suggestions:

1. When I choose a region, could the constellation and solar system combo boxes be filtered to only include constellations/solar systems in the region I've picked?
2. The autocomplete doesn't work for me (IE8 user)
3. It would be cool to be able to search for an agent where there is a nearby storyline agent for a specific corp.
4. The location in Settings can conflict with the location you choose in the main window. Could you indicate in the main window what location you've chosen. (again for an out of game browser).

Keep up the good work. This is another in a new breed of modern Eve webapps I've seen lately.

Thanks for the feedback.

Based on your suggestions I will try this:
  • Remove the first tab in the settings window, rename it to "Standings". The current position will be at the toolbar on top. No more skills, just enter the effective standing, since that is the value displayed in your character sheet.
  • @Greg Huff: That is not possible via the browser. You can fetch those values via the API, but I will not do any API functions for now, since the authentication method is going to change anyway and I do not want to do that twice.
  • Trying to constrain the available Constellations, Systems and Corporations, depending on which values you have choosen above.
  • @Greg: Copy to clipboard could be interessting, but I am not sure how. First: Which format? Second: Only the current page, or
  • Customize the records per page value (why the *** did I not think about that Rolling Eyes)

I will play around a little during "downtime". Stay tuned.

*bumb*

seriously, my girlfriend was off for the weekend so I had time to do some coding.
Result:
  • Custom page size
  • Removed the social skills. Since the effective standing is now displayed in your character sheet, they were pretty useless and confusing.
  • Settings window is now the "Standings" window. Please enter your effective standings!
  • Position selector is now on the top bar for easier access.
  • Position is now updated automatically if in IGB and the site is trusted.
  • Performance tweaks: Instead of nine initial XHR calls for filling the comboboxes, there is only one now.
  • Autocomplete did not work under some conditions. Should now.
  • The selectable values for Constellation, System and Corporation are constrained to their parent values. eg: You cannot select "Alistra" as corporation if you selected "Minmatar Republic" as faction.

All feedback is welcome.

I found a strange error in IGB:
If in IGB and trusting the site, the IGB still does not send the EVE_XY headers, like when you do not trust it. Because of that IGB integration fails and the message "Please click to trust" remains.

A further CCPEVE.requestTrust call fails, because the site is already listed as trusted. The function available when trusted are not available though.

Also it only happens when going to the evepanel.net site, on my local system - where I have a evepanel.local host - it works ! ? Shocked ?

Can someone confirm this behaviour? If so, I will file a bug report.
Also, do you know of other tools that have a problem like this?
