having been in PL for a few years (and booted) if PL bring a comedy set up or an honour match I will eat my shorts. PL are good, damn good because they play to win, not just win, stomp/mash/kill... PL dont care about your e-honour, dont care wether you dont like their tactics, dont care wether you like the meta game.. in fact they dont care about you at all.

Someone has probably already addressed this but do to the fact a large portion of Hydra Reloaded recently did a stint in PL should hint to the most likely course of action being, an either staged or at least agreed upon match up. Either they will choose to make it fun to watch, maybe some previous tournament ships in the mix with some ground rules, i.e. no killing the 40B ships, or something like 10 bc's vs 10 bc's, best target calling/tactics/drone jam cycles/all around better skilled team wins. Either way, it should be interesting, and you can bet they will both be in the finals.

Let me put this to rest. This idea couldn't be more wrong. In fact, the exact opposite is true and here is some very good evidence:

Hydra have been mega-bubbling the PL staging station on SISI, PL have been fighting back, and both sides have been trying to get the other side banned as a result. Getting banned from SISI during tourney time for serious tourney teams would essentially be a death blow to their efforts.

pretty sure that's now how it works
my impression is that both alliances consider the other their strongest rival for the prize and would happily sabotage each other in order to face a weaker foe in the finals
also i doubt either team wants to face darkside next so an agreement is unlikely IMO

PL play to win, not gonna see comedy setup and probably wont see the ECM heavy setup, hopefully something new to stomp their rivals just to show they can

Your not important
they really dont care what you think of them or do.

thats why they are the best and why I got (deservedly) booted

Arrogant (check) Better than you (check) serious (check) The new BOB.. oh no... PL has one advantage over BOB, Molle thought he was good, Shamis knows he is but listens to his henchmen.

When I started this game in a noob ship my end game was to be good enough to be in Snigg, I had 3 years in Snigg, the best years of my game, now I dont play that often at all
RL means I cant match the PL requirements and I cant see where I can get that thrill elsewhere.

One of my all time favourite nights was in Curse when we ran riot over KOS/Goons and Shadoo (now a PL stalwart) trapped our small gang in a system and we bounced safe spots until our aggresion timed out, Shamis saw we were screwed and no way out and after taunting Shadoo we logged, Shamis saw the potential and within a month or two NESW joined PL (although we were still arguing over the name at that point)

Call me a fanboi, or a ***got I really dont care, but PL are there at the top because they stretch every alliance member and ask them to play at the top of their game. and if you cant GTFO.

They will win this tournament simply to paraphrase Molle, "they are better than you"

so dont whinge and whine about setups.. if you put the effort in and tried like they do, you might win a match too

PS if I put an app in can I come back Shamis? :)

This is a good post m8.

imho I would love to see A-Hacs against a Bombersetup.

PL and HYDRA's joint best option is to broker a partial agreement where on one side they agree to field setups that do not reveal too much about what they will be using on the finals day, while on the other side they still compete on this match in order to avoid Darkside.

It's a Prisoner's Dilemma so it's going to be fun to see how far both can manage to reap mutual benefit from last weekend's winnings.

I came up with two humorous ideas for the match:

1/ A full rocket launcher setup with nothing bigger than cruisers. This way people would get to see some ships that nobody ever uses but look really nice, like maledictions and other Khanid ships, there'd be LOTS of explosions, people flying around really fast up-close and personal (MACTEP would love it I think 'cos it'd go with what Shadoo would describe as "fist meets face").
Obviously setting up ships for active tank or heavy passive tank setups would make breaking some of the ships take a long time so avoiding that would probably be best, but it'd make for something that, although kind of pointless, would be really fun and exciting to see, plus it'd act as a nice testament for old team deathmatch games such as Unreal Tournament and Quake with the always fun rocket launcher matches.
It'd also be nice to actually be able to see how the last rocket buff of increased explosion velocity can be properly utilised to do high damage.

2/ The more silly (and shorter) idea would be a pure speed setup like interceptors etc. Everyone warps into the middle of the arena and fly as quick as they can out of the arena, the first team to have all their ships destroyed through boundary violations is (technically) the winner.

Remember that the loser will face darkside......... however the winner have VOLTRON looming in the quarters on the otherside of the bracket. So really its a matter of who would you rather face?
