Hi, few minutes ago I restarted my client to switch character and on restart I got this error msg:

Verification failure

"Your EVE client installation may have modified, damage or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in EVE game directory or re-install the game client. Verification failed C:\Programmi\CCP\EVE\BIN\_trinity_deploy.dll crc:ab5d6396, expected: b57ff0f"

When I launch repair.exe and error message pops telling to see the repair.exe.log:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "repair.py", line 206, in <module>
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 94, in UpdateSelf_nt
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 21, in ReadUpdateInfo
File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 250, in GetRepairInfo
File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 157, in SafeUrlOpen
urllib2.HTTPError: HTTP Error 404: Not Found: 'http://eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt'

Ok, there is a sudden, unexplained client corrupt file problem. I launch the repair tool and it doesn't work!!!
Really do you CCP Computer geniuses think I have to download again the whole client?!?!? Twisted Evil
Please help! It takes me 8-9 hours to download the client!!!! Shocked

Thank you
JJ

same here.

Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged ot corrupt files.
Please run repair.eve located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client.
Verification failed 'C:\Program Files
(x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\dxnt.cab', crcdc8daa15, expected: cb0fbf0b

here's the message i submitted in my petition below the line.

After just playing EVE yesterday i attempted to log in tonight and got the following pop up notification.

--"Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged ot corrupt files.

This is the second time It has happened in the past two weeks. Note the game client was exited normally through the in game ESC menu options. Nothing seemed out of place and I was not experiencing any other technical or gameplay issues at any time prior to this happening (either time)
the repair.exe tool loads up completes its check in 00:02 seconds and thats it, the client still fails to start returning the same error message quoted above.
I really dont want to have to re-install the entire client weekly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As this is the second time in as many weeks its happened i'm starting to lose patience. I'm paying to play the game NOT redownload the whole thing everyweek! -.-

Try deleting the file in question ("C:\Program Files\(x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\dxnt.cab") and run the repair tool again.

Try deleting the file in question ("C:\Program Files\(x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\dxnt.cab") and run the repair tool again.

Deleting the dxnt.cab file worked.
two things about this though.
1) the file was not a .cab extension in my folder as I use winRAR as my zip utility. So the file name was dxnt.RAR for me.
2) After running the repair tool and restarting the client there was a small update download and restart before I was able to log in again.

Not sure if that will help anyone else but this does fix the issue. Hopefully CCP can squash this bug soon :)

I am getting this as well and think I know the cause, however I refuse to tell CCP what is making this happen until they fix the annoying freeze bug that is annoying me. I am not bug testing this game for free CCP so how about you fix the bug that is annoying me and I will tell you what is causing this one deal?

Freeze Bug Thread this is the bug annoying me

For those that this is happening to and who are using the repair tool only to find that this does not fix the files I found that if you delete all the folders that contain the file 'checksums' from the following locations then run the repair tool it will work. You will probably need to install a small update after repairing and loading the Eve client.

Locations for Windows 7(replace xxxxx with the name of ur windows user account):

C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE
C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
