So the countdown timer on the dust website ends at 7 P.M. U.S. central time on the 6th. That is the exact time as the sony press conference at E3. This is probably not a coincidence. PC definitely won't get dust, and now Xbox probably won't be getting it either. I know most of you are hardcore PC gamers and don't really give a damn anyways, which is fine, and that I may be guilty of counting chickens before they hatch, but as it stands right now, i'm more than I little disappointed. I was kind hoping for an Xbox release.

I suppose that I will still have to wait and see, as I have 2 days and 4 hours left anyways.

That would be disastrous if it was a PS3 exclusive they don't have the market to support Dust alone. Let alone the network capabilities they just had their service shut down for like a month due to hacks, got it back up and running then they were hacked again. Sony sucks. If it's PS3 exclusive CCP is not thinking straight.

A point I am very aware of.

If Dust is going to be as integral a part of the EVE universe as CCP has been saying for the last couple years, then there is absolutely no way they could make it work with XBOX Live's closed network. Plain and simple.

There are other MMOs currently on the XBL network it should be fine.

Perhaps this is how EVE and DUST will be syncronized: A CCP employee gets a datadump from Microsoft in a USB and plug it into TQ every other week.

It was pretty much given it was going to have to be an exclusive for one console or the other.

Originally it was announced for both consoles. I don't see how it was a given.

Such as?

And are any of them cross-platform? (The answer is no.)

Actually you are incorrect. Final Fantasy XI is on ps2 xbox 360 and pc.

It was a game that would need to be cross platform to work because XBOX/PS3 players would need to compete with each other.

Not to mention what if one service went down (sony hacked) and the other stayed up? Suddenly one console has the advantage. It needs to be on one platform.

ummm op..... stop speculating. Who would use the PS3 for multiplayer gaming online? I mean come on. sony dumps a billion each year into their playstation network and it has only be online for about a week for the past 3 months.

And sony's open network worked out for them

:BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA:

But seriously, DUST is just another generic shooter running on the UE3 engine. It's in no means limited to a single console because of that but why would you want to play it. Battlefield 3 will be king, who would play a generic shooter with static walls and buildings when you can blow the **** out of entire cities?

Look, I'll admit i'm speculating, but who doesn't? If i'm wrong, which I doubt, but hope for, then this little gossip thread will be all but forgotten about in a day.

I forgot about that. But that game is quite old and before Microsoft's newer anti-competitive XBL policies. Ever since Shadowrun was a massive failure, Microsoft has publicly stated that there will be no more cross-platform online play.

Again, it's limited because of the online capabilities. CCP would never be able to get Xbox Live to interface with Tranquility.

If (and I really doubt it) it was decided to be a PS3 exclusive its not like that was decided within the last month.

Still I doubt its a PS3 exclusive, thought I could be wrong, just think CCP is using Sony's press conference to show off Dust 514.

Also I've been out of the loop for a while, was it ever figured out what the significance of 514 was?

Why would sony spend valuable conference time promoting a game that can be bought on Xbox?

It doesn't need to, all CCP need are the stats of the battles, which most multiplayer games on consoles provide. They only need to know which side won, which things were destroyed, who was killed etc.

It also doesn't need to be cross platform, just assign one planet to ps3 players, another to xbox players.

The link between Tranquility and Dust will not be real time, they won't interface with each other directly.

Xbox live is nothing but a portal, an easy way for xbox users to conglomerate and interface with the necessary servers to play online. It would be fairly easy to interface the two. If anything Xbox live would make it easier to interface the two.

I would definitely buy Dust if it was for Xbox, screw it if it is for PS3.

Also without Xbox I doubt they will be able to get the kind of coverage they need to make this work...

Also- Notice more than just PS3 stuff going on
Xbox June 6th at E3

but not at the EXACT same time as the countdown timer on the Dust website spins down.

I seriously do not enjoy ps3 controllers for shooters at all and im not spending 100$ for a plastic gun that isnt going to work with it likely. Give me my xbox controller trigger and ill be happy, also sony online is such an obstrusive asanine peice of software to deal with on the console to set it up to do anything which it seems to forget settings for every time I try to shop for a japanses game that will never be released in the states.

Who cares about a Battlefield Clone? FPS players are fickle and jump to the next title. CCP will be lucky to keep Dust alive 12 months, especially given there current track record of adding "content."

Hey have you tried this new dust game? It's exactly like battlefield but it full of bugs and lag, and you have to pray to some MMO supernerd to finance your campaign.

Weak dude.
