Since time is isk, it would be nice if CCP reimbursed us 50,000,000 isk for each hour of down time extended beyond what was originally planned.
On a separate note, as a fellow software engineer, it would be nice to know how come after years of patching Eve they are rarely on target for how long a patch will take; you would think that after years of patching their own software, it would be more of a science especially if they are testing the patches.
Thank you.
Maybe it's because the CCP crystal ball is broken? We aren't talking about 1 server maybe connected to one db server and a web front end. I love how everyone everyone who's written 5 lines of vbscript is suddenly an expert on software deployment. And yes, I want my 6 cents for the extended down time. I figure if i throw in my 2 cents for every post, that's 3 posts payed for. |

Whilst nobody can prove it either way, the general concensus is that McD's were microwaving the coffee to reheat it if it had been left standing in the pot for too long. Microwaving liquids can cause bubbles of super heated gas to form contained by the pressure. It's the reason your microwave has a turn table, it avoids this problem. But once you disturb the liquid the bubbles in the liquid all their trapped heat is released and the liquid explodes. In essence the now 100+ degree C liquid spills itself.
But yes McD's have been fined and warned several times about this. This womans case has stayed in peoples minds because of where the burns were and is often used, wrongly, as an example of the publics stupidity.
The compensation was indeed downgraded at a later hearing.
McD's aren't really alone in being silly about hot liquids. The A&W at our old local airport used to serve hot chocolate in thick insulated styrofoam cups, with a plastic cover, and a straw. Darned nasty surprise you get when you take a sip, not to mention a day or two without any sense of taste. |

ISK loss is irrelevant only if you are not playing on PLEX. While no one is losing ground compared to other EVE players, the clock does continue to tick on PLEX renewal accounts. And years ago CCP did credit time to everyone with the result hat this did not hurt PLEX players. Of course CCP eventually realized that downtime is also a cash earning time if they did not credit time back...plus of course EVE players tend to be very loyal once hooked. Originally by: DeadEye C

Seriously. I've been playing since 1/15/2005 and you people STILL haven't learned yet that CCP's going to have extended downtimes?
God, get an F'n grip folks. CCP's come a LOOOOONG way from their previous Patch-Time Fopahs (DAYS vs an extra 2hrs).
These are the days of "instant gratification", if something is not provided when and where people want it, all hell breaks loose. It's almost as if these people have never experienced this in a real world situation....I'll just stop there on that point.
There are 2 test servers if you are biting your nails until they bleed because you don't have your EvE fix, or you missed out on a few million ISK (We all miss out on ISK, so that point is irrelevant). SP isn't even worth complaining about. If you are so thick you can't think ahead to train a long skill but still blame CCP for it....
I could really drone on for hours about the upbringing of this new generation we have, it's really quite sickening. I have a complaint as well; too many places in the world don't allow for legal beating of children, and thus we have spoiled little ****s running around like the world should revolve completely around them. (Among other things, but a good beating used to solve all problems)

Originally by: Phaershalee LOL, Downtime extended due to "patch issues"? No surprise there. Anyone who didn't set a long skill train hasn't learned yet. Hopefully they give out skill point credit for you like they've done lately when they remove a skill from the game.

Dude, don't put your cup between your legs for two reasons, first, if it's cold, your junk get's cold and your beverage get's warm. Second, if your beverage is hot, the possibility of spillage and melted wedding tackle abounds.
100dC will take several seconds to do any major damage, like 3rd or 2nd degree burns. Not enough time to dry off but enough to get your trousers off right? .5 of a second to get a 3rd degree burn is... rather quick. In some respects if she'd have held it in her hand or it'd exploded on her face the damage would of been much worse than no-skin-vajayjay. In that container and at that tempreture even moving it from the window to the cup holder would be dangerous. |

Quote: Well, maybe they should actually test their patches out before deploying them, instead of deploying them THEN "discovering" problems randomly all of the sudden. Isn't that was SISI is for in the first place? Discovering these problems, and fixing them before the patch is released? It's a little bit annoying, and very un-professional. They must have outsourced to India, or China or something.
It would have been completed an hour ahead of time if that were the case |
