Oh and I'm trying to get it on YouTube in HD as we speak, I'm rendering 6 separate parts so it fits within their 15 minute maximum, but it's a slow process because I'm on 12hr dayshifts at the moment so I'm hardly at home!

Also, YouTube is currently messing up the audio for no apparent reason, which is fun.

I will post here and also update the website once the YouTube vesion is in place.

Hehe. According to my browser, it will take me at least 2 days to download the video. I'll have to wait a while before I can try downloading it. I figure the flood of download requests is holding down the server.

Why 15 minutes? Youtube has dropped the length limit for me and I currently have a 52 minute video uploaded to there. I am gonna hit the big upload button when I get home from work and see if Youtube will take it in one solid chunk, failing that will do it in 2.

Stunning.

A delightful end to an exciting trilogy that is as much a part of the EVE Universe now as any lore, story and tale. You and your team have given everything to make a superb film, and EVE is much better for it.

Bravo!

Ah, therein lies a tale Cool Some of my friends went to a convention for Veronica Mars down at the Thistle Hotel in London, hosted by the Starfury convention crew. While sat at a round-table discussion with my three friends, Francis happened to mention that he's a big WoW player (but don't hold that against him Wink ) and he wanted to get into voice acting more. He figured that WoW machinima was the way to start this off, but when he tried to get involved, no-one believed he was actually Francis Capra, and hurled abuse at him! He asked if anyone at the table had heard of the term 'machinima' and my three freinds shared one of 'those' looks amongst them and said "we have someone you might want to meet....". 12 hours later I was in London going through the script with him (while privately cacking my pants, of course). What serendipity, and what a result. Isn't he great? *gush*

I'm also fortunate enough to have my friend Ricky Grove involved as well - he is a sterling actor. The thing I remember him most for is playing Henry the Red in Army of Darkness (Evil Dead III).

Ricky I met through his love of Machinima. I entered the original Clear Skies into an expo that he was running, and to say he liked it was an understatement - he got in touch with me and we've been friends since Smile It was about time I got him involved, he's got a brilliant voice.

I'm uploading CS3 to youtube in one big chunk to see what happens. I'm leaving it unlisted till I can test it out. If JR or any other members of the clear skies team wants me to pull it off there I will.

Edited to add, link will be

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Woad9ctSxGs

2.2gb monster has been uploaded and at this time processing, however, the last time I uploaded a large file it dissappeared for 2 days then came back banned in Germany...

Edited to add again, Its up, but the audio is clipping. I need to take the WMV apart, change whatever wierd sound codec that JR used that won't play on anything and convert it into something sensible like aac, then feed that back into youtube. I'll do that tomorrow after work.

I have at least proved that Youtube will take Clear Skies 3 as one lump.

This is an amazing part. Certainly low your writing. All 3 parts are awesome. Any plans for part 4 in jovian space?

However i have few inconsistencies. You have stated that you use WMV for maximum compactability (i personally thing that WMV compactability is awful) however this time it did not end up well. With windows default codecs there is no sound. VLC also brings in no sound. So you must have used a quite new codec in your WMV ( i admit my VLC is old, i like the older design better). It did play good on Windows media player classic running K-Lite codecs pack so no problem there. Though i have noticed that in some parts i could see a latter being cut off at the left so its possible that the player cut off part of the video. or was that intentional (for example during the credits).

I'm glad you answered this - it's funny how things work out sometimes isn't it? After I finished watching it* I made sure sure to check the credits to see who provided Ghost's voice - he did an outstanding job which made the character really believable. Ricky and everyone else were great too.

*I've only watched it twice so far, but I have a feeling 3 is going to have even more longevity than 1+2 which I've seen countless times now.

What an excellent conclusion to the trilogy. Simply stunning. There's no way to convey how truly awesome CS3 is. As we say in the Navy, "Bravo Zulu."

Congratz to Ian and his team for another truly EVE movie. Waiting was worth it. Donation will come shortly.

Ian, I think your work should be promoting this game with more films. CCP should provide you the means (technological, financial, manpower and whatever else you will need). If you say that CS is over, its ok with me, but I'm sure there are many other stories needing to be told (and starting to take shape in your head, I bet). Let them out. Give us an EVE adventure of quality, once or twice a year. You can: the tools are out there, it just has to be your job.

Thanx again.

PS. Why no subtitles? English is not my native language, and though I know it very well, I realized that with CS's fast pace, I just get left behind; and hearing the same sentence a few times just spoils the beauty of it all. So I declare it 'half-enjoyed', and I am waiting for the subtitles to watch it again. Won't be like the first, though...

I used to subtitle anime. Its an arse as you have to time it all manually so the right words appear when people speak, then reencode with it in. The clear skies team has literally only just managd to get the audio balanced and scenes knitted together right before going gold so they have had no time to do that. I am sure someone will be doing subs soon.

As English isn't my native tongue I also have to wait for the English subtitles because I cannot for the love of god understand a word of what Fodder or Burke are saying. Liverpool dialect?Shocked

Anyway, thanks a thousand, Ian. Your work is exceptional on all levels!

***I pulled the .wmv file into my editing program, and it, too, was unable to properly decode the audio. (It sounded as if being played at -200% speed and with a significant pitch decrease. Just FYI: It might be an issue eminating from the way you encoded the audio, and YouTube may be unable to adapt.)

I was wondering: Are we free to use clips from this, and other "Clear Skies" films, in our own YouTube movies? (With all proper credit given, of course.)

I've watched CS3 four times now!!! :)

I have to say, this is probably my favorite machinima out there, great work!

Any scene involving that sofa = win

Great characters, great story.
