PLEX price in Jita already at 420 million isk. Nice way to destroy the PLEX market CCP.

I really don't want to worry about losing millions of ISK extra because a ship I customized to look different had furnishings on it that costed a billion ISK. I can understand character appearance items costing real money, but ship appearance modification (if implemented in the future) should not cost anything, because ships already cost enough. Either that, or you buy the furnishing once and you have it forever, even if you lose a ship with that furnishing.

Random character bling has been pitched as a microtransaction thing for a while now, at present the only existing mechanic to do that would be to use PLEX. Now, do you want the CHEAPEST of these items to cost 1 PLEX (and have the corresponding ISK resale value when placed on open market ingame), or would it be better all round if things can be bought for part of a PLEX? Aurum is basicly pennies/cents to a PLEXs whole pound/dollar so small items can be purchased individually for a reasonable(ish, depending on how pricing is balanced in the end) amount each, whilst also preserving the mechanic of those items having a RL money cost somewhere down the line to warrant CCP being bothered to make it.

(As an aside I don't really like this route at all personally, but doing Au at least gets around the previously mentioned failsauce of slightly diff haircuts costing a whole PLEX each)

One thing I would like clarified is about eventually only having one "free" set of clothing and everything else being paid-for, you've said we wont lose our existing choice of free cloths/etc when that time comes (and that time better be damn well signposted in advance) but what about new chars created after that? Will they get the same choice as at current of free clothes/etc to dress their char with initially or will new chars end up starting with a generic vault-tec jumpsuit and have to pay for anything else? Also will new chars get a couple of free "makeovers" using only the default free stuff before they get locked into having only the one set of "default" clothes to use and havinmg to pay for any further changes? I can see it being so easy to rush through char creation and get something you're not happy with, getting stung for microtransactions on day 2 seems a little harshugh Whatever you do (bar generic jumpsuits for newbies) you'll need to make it VERY clear to new players what options they do/don't have with regards to redoing their image later, at the initial creation stage.

TBH what's wrong with letting us frrely swap about with the existing (hideously limited) free stuff indefnitely, personally I don't see allowing that as likely to affect the market for luxory stuff much if at all, if people are willing to pay they will, if they aren't they wont no matter how hard you push them.

This! I'd much rather buy the Aurum and combined to buy a Plex from the virtual good store than have to buy the plex and break it into Aurum. You could then cater for smaller payments.

I'm not sure on the details here. Let me see if I have this right:

So I create a character, and choose from the clothes available in the char creator. That outfit becomes that character's "Default" outfit, yes?

And if they clone-jump, or are podded, they will have that "default" outfit available, wherever, yes ?

In addition, that character can purchase various clothes (e.g. party dresses for special occasions ), and those may be destroyed if the character is podded while wearing them, yes ?

And in character recustomisation, you will only be able to choose from outfits you own at that station, yes ?

This Vanity items are going to be really expensive. You need to spend a large amount of Isk or even real money to get them. I rather spend my Isk on a new kick-ass ship or maybe play time. So I don't think I'll buy any of those vanity items soon.

If this isn't some late April 1st joke, I have actually lost some respect for CCP for the first time in my 5 years of playing. This is the most upsetting feature CCP has ever released.

EmbarassedTHIS IS EMBARRASSING!Embarassed

Does this mean that player made clothing stores are out? Or did they just take the best designs from that, call them vanity items and decide to just sell them for real money?

This is really upsetting, CCP. I thought you were above this. I really believed that CCP was going to stand by the philosophy that "15$ a month pays for everything." I saw an interview during an alliance tournament several years ago that was pretty explicit about that.

Incarna was going to be one of my favorite expansions in Eve since Titans. Now, I don't know. This is a BIG step towards Blizzard-dom.

A company has to be profitable, but CCP always seemed satisfied with their profits and principled in their philosophy. This will be the downfall of CCP and the principled progression they adhered to.

It is a sad day in New Eden..

Short answer is yes. This first pass is simply a tracer bullet to gauge response. The future vision is that after being podded you will wake up in a clone bay in a medical gown. Then you will get your free orange noobie overalls (or whatever we come up with) but there will be all sorts of inexpensive stuff on offer to change into or maybe you weren't wearing your favorite stuff anyway and you can just put that one.

More money for CCP will probably equate to a better EVE Online. So many MMO's fail or get bought out by cannibalistic corp machine and I don't want that to happen to my favorite game because of a poor business model(monthly sub only) or a backwards thinking player-base.

If micro-transactions allows people the option to get what they want and for those that don't want to spend USD but rather ISK, then I'm all for that. We can always buy PLEX with ISK on the open market, which is a major reason I'm for this micro-transaction schema.

I just hope the exchange rate to the new currency isn't too low.

"revise our strategy"

Slaps CCP

no, no you ****ing won't. don't you dare go past vanity items.

also I assume this change means you will never let players make our own items and sell them. thanks a ton ccp.

you could of made real life cash for blue prints of monocles. Then there could of been markets, and cash investment in making isk in game.

but no, you have to go with the ****ing standard. And then no less make sure that you tell us your going to change your start down the line.

WHATS THE POINT IF I CAN STILL BUY VANITY ITEMS FOR ISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Easy to understand.

CCP wants to able to fine-tune the costs of vanity items. This can easily be done by changing the conversion rate PLEX<->AUR. If you see for example that the conversion rate is too low or too high, then you can easily change it. There are other ways, of course, but none of them are as easy and transparent.

Which is it guys? Do we at some point get locked down to the set of free stuff we had at that time being our recurring "default" outfit, or do we lose access to what we have now and get thrown all the way to generoville? Clarification would be nice since you're contradicting each other here...

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but not that easy to understand apparently.

Let's look at two cases;
1) We want to buy a shirt for 15 AUR
2) We want to buy a PLEX

For discussions sake say that the PLEX -> AUR conversion factor is 200.

With CCPs method of PLEX for AUR:
1) Buy PLEX for real money -> Get 200 AUR -> buy shirt -> 185 AUR left
2) Buy PLEX for real money

With our suggestion:
1) Buy 15 AUR for real money -> buy shirt
2) Buy 200 AUR for real money -> buy PLEX

Personally I think method number two is more logical. Not to mention that PLEX prices wouldn't be affected, which is a very important part.
