Nice kindergarten here. Cool

The shop items are just status symbols.

There are three kinds of char items ingame:
- Items for people without ISK. Could find in the char creation
- Items for people who pay 500 Millions from the petty cash. There are the skop clothes for.
- Items for people who pay 2 billions from the petty cash. Theres the monokel for.

If you cant handle this EverybodyMustHaveEverythink-WoW whould be better for you!

Dark and harsh anyone?

i have some problems to understand the reason things cost so much.
If i were you (CCP) i would lower the prices so that with a plex i would be able to pay a few things at least.

If a shirt would cost 500 aurum i would buy a plex, convert it, buy the shirt and maybe another thing... and then wait for the others to come (or maybe buy another nice thing and put it in the market).

But now everything cost from 1 to 4 plexes and i don't think anyone will invest a plex to change a dress only him can see in incarna "all alone in a room special edition".

More over the aurum life cycle seems to me a fail because of this prices. As said before if i pay a dress 500 aurum (so 1/7 of a plex, so more or less 55kk isk) i would be able to put it in the market for a reasonable price. Let's say... 70/80kk isk? Quite expensive but who cares i would drop the price of an Abaddon to buy me a skirt (probably in new eden we still use manual loom to tailor stuff. Screw you industrial revolution!).

But if someone has to pay 1 plex to buy a dress how much high should be the price of that stuff if put in the market? 500kk isk. I sense that the number of people that will spend so much money to get a skirt will be more or less between 0 and noone.

Seriously... set the prices lower.

Ummm... yeah... these monocles are a bit out of my price range, so I think I'll go with death for now.

****ing seriously CCP, I thought the point of making a system for breaking down PLEX was to have things that would cost LESS THAN A PILE OF PLEXES. If you're gonna go with the completely ******ed price levels, why not go all the way and save yourselves the trouble of handling Aurum? A hundred PLEX for some shoes, two hundred for a monocle, a thousand for a scorpion?

12,000 aur for a monocle?

at 3,500 aur per plex thats 3.43 plex, 375Mil per plex = 1.285 Billion total...

are you out of your mind CCP?

seriously, this is insulting.

Well, that simply a money sink actually. Idk is someone wrote it yet or not, i'm not able to read up the whole 56 page, sorry.

After some time, ccp will realize to need to drop the prices for at least 1/5 to 1/10 to higher numbers of ppl would interested in this space sims.

But, couriously why this microtransaction?...
I have an idea, let see:
You buy gtc --> plex or just buy plex, doesn't matter.
PLEX -> Aur -> stuffs -> ISK (sell on market) -> PLEX?

This is a plex sink. After prices will acceptable, ppl will start to use it, and burn plexes what will increase plex prices. -> increase gtc prices -> increase gtc buys overall.

CCP, are you that hungry for money? Really?!
Fix t2 production, or impress me to fix lag and bugs, not come with this robbery.

I'll never use CQ. Thx.

I wanted to comment on the prices in the NEX store. I realize there needs to be some kind of return for the developers time, but the current prices are so high that I will never purchase any of the items. I like the shirt and I was looking forward to new items being placed in the store, but I can't see myself ever affording any of them at current rates.

Perhaps the store isn't meant for an average player like myself. I pay for one account with a plex each month and the other three accounts I run I pay monthly subscriptions. I have never had more than 900mil in my wallet but that's mainly because I like to buy new ships. I run high sec missions and do a small amount of PVP. I realize most people don't play three accounts, but my activities in the game fit the profile for most empire dwellers.

That said I think the price of the items in the NEX should be greatly reduced, or else the conversion rate to aurum being greatly increased. I was looking forward to decorating my quarters, buying new stuff and feeling like my character mattered a bit more. Looking at the current prices all I can say at the moment is that instead of being a cool new feature the NEX store is just a frustrating idea that is no where close to realizing it's potential.

Hi there all! Remember me, I'm the guy that defended this **** for like 20 pages or more.

Then the release came.

Now, I knew the SiSi cost for items was just a test cost and I figured the actual prices would be around 100-300 for clothes and maybe 1000-2000 for ship paint jobs. I mean this stuff is, after all, virtual and vanity with no actual effect on the game whatsoever.

70 bucks for a monocle?! Are you guys ****ing kidding me?!! Have you lost all sense of reality?! Did you accidentally add one too many zeros to everything in the market?!

I can buy a Machariel for the same cost as a blouse and a pair of shoes!!

I may not ever use the store, it may not affect me or the way I play the game, but so help me, if you don't lower the cost of these items to a level that doesn't make me think the developers of my favorite game have lost their damned minds, I'll give up both my accounts and I'll see you all in hell!

if this is the route CCP wants to take, I am seriously concidering unsubbing my accounts. I dont like to be used as a Piñata.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Incarna. I'm not part of the "WE DONT KNOW IT, SO BURN IT NAO" torch & pitchfork mob. So the walking in station is not my beef...

EvE was designed to be a harsh and unforgiving MMO, but they're turning it into a second "Battlefield Heroes", where all of a sudden the game is all about giving the rich kids benefits. That's not the game I signed up for. I'd rather be charged a little extra for subscriptions if CCP is in financial trouble, than having the whole EvE experience change into "RL money trade - online"...

Don't go for the quick buck, CCP [insert prostitute analogy here]

So let me make myself clear.
2 years ago PLEX price was around 200mil isk, now the index of the plex has gone up by 50% so now we are looking price in market 400mil isk.
Other way to get plex is with RL money, we convert GTC to PLEX. This will be as it is and it will not have any change. If now we take AUR in what is made from PLEX. PLEX price will go up from 400mil to 600mil isk and in next 2 years the price will go even more up... about half of the users in this game use PLEX to play this game. Meaning isk you make and buy PLEX keeps your users in this game (key: "you don't need to pay any RL money to play this game"). If you take AUR in then AUR will push PLEX price up and push GTC (60days gamecards price to isk) up with 50%.
So in the end people don't buy PLEX, but the better option will be under GTC (it gives CCP more RL money). GTC price will go now up to 1,2bil and people who can not afford to make 1,2bil in 60days (we are not robots) will just quit this game (or you have more issues with bots). Only ones who will stay in this game are the ones with huge wallet on Credit Cards.

Good job CCP, you will lose 50% of players who wanted to play this game. Now there is only ones left who buy this game with RL money. If they decide that eve is bad they don't buy the GTC anymore and now eve online will be at point where ballance is what the customers do, if they keep leaving, (remember the ones who play this game basicly free has friend who buy GTC - buddy program) then this game will go upside down.

BUT before you call me an idiot, if you manage to control the PLEX / ISK value as it is, then this game is doing fine, but you need to not just keep eye on it, but to work very hard times on it! There is always someone who want to make more ISK.

Just to clarify - The lowest monthly average price for ISK was in February of 2010 with a value of roughly 265,000,000 ISK (265 million ISK). We are well aware of the potential, and I stress potential, impact on the market and are thus monitoring the situation closely. We do expect a lot of fluctuations while the market stabilizes based on information in this new devblog. But as you have seen today the market can adjust by itself very rapidly. Sell offers are currently at 404.7 million in Jita, down from a 450 million high earlier today. A typical market reaction when there are uncertainties with new information provided.

260mil isk may have been the lowest average price on the market but that really is not a true guideline of the price, market prices are always higher than face to face trading prices and a majority of PLEX would have been sold face to face rather than via the market, i was running my alt account on PLEX for a long time prior to the end of last year and i never payed more than 200mil for a PLEX.

Aurum is an elegant solution by CCP to two problems:
1. there are too many unredeemed PLEX in the universe (accountants complain)
2. there is too much stockpiled ISK (economist complains)

Making Aurum only available from PLEX directly addresses problem #1.

Problem #2 means that if new Incarna items were sold through fixed price NPC sell orders (think POS fuel before Tyrannis), the universe would quickly be flooded with them, devaluing Incarna. Selling them for fixed prices in Aurum means that the items' prices FLOAT in isk, since that exchange rate will vary with PLEX pricing. The greater the rush to buy Incarna items, the more expensive they become. So stockpiled isk has a lesser effect on Incarna items than it would otherwise.

The immediate side effect of making PLEX more expensive also means that buying isk via RMT is less competitive with buying isk legitimately via GTC sales. I'm sure this was a 'total accident', right CCP? :)

Well done.

Could we get a comment from CCP as to the Eve economist's thoughts on Aurum? It is a new currency, after all.

Having another currency for Incarna (Aurum (AUR)) helps a lot in terms of managing the overall money supply in EVE and simply gives us more tools to react to any imbalance situation that might come up over the years. More currencies are also simply just more fun and the fact that vanity items can be sold on the secondary market by players themselves opens up a lot of trading opportunities. Fun times ahead. Smile

I have to totaly disagree with the bolded part, multiple currencies are not more fun at all and can be extremely frustrating and annoying, SwG has multiple tokens with which you can buy things using a combination, they're an absolute pain ini the backside and make trying to work out what you can buy with what you have extremely difficult, AoC has multipel currencies which can be spent in combinations at different vendors, again this is stupdily annoying and causes a ton of confusion.

I was very ****ed off when I saw the prices. I was looking forward to buy some stuff with my extra isk (I have enough to pay the account and my occasional lost ships) but the prices are too high, I would have to cough up real money to afford more than two pieces of clothing. No way.

Then it dawned to me, this is a fancy shop for the very rich, and I'm just a run of the mill PvPer with no access to moons. I thought I was well off, now I see I'm not... I'm a bit hurt at the realization, but this is EvE, life here is harsh, I should be used to it by now. Nah, I'm no bitter. A status symbol is only a status symbol if only a few can afford it, so I think it is ok to have overpriced design clothing and monocles.

That said, there should be some run of the mill items for the rest of us, something we could reasonably afford, even if it is by no means exclusive. Some cheaper items would get CCP extra cash from the not so rich players and would keep us, the not so rich masses, happy, as we all would be able to buy something from the new shops.

No dear ma'am. You have no idea about stuff. The only ones who buy those items are snobs. A snob is somebody who pays a lot of cash - in real life - just to look like they had money.

Let me clarify this:
- if your wallet has so many millions, you can buy that stuff from ISK - fine.
- if your wallet in real life has enough money, you can buy that stuff either, actually, you ARE the guy who is buying it in reality. And you can get more ISK by selling them to pirates who want a monocle.

Nobody really has a problem with this, you know? Thats how it works, so yeah, if you are rich enough, just hold your breath.

The problem lies more like there, that the plan was to introduce more and more of this virtual stuff. So prices have to go down someday, especially, since those, who want to use the AUR market for profit, need "bigger numbers" to make profit - not those snobs, who will buy it in the next couple of months and then just dont care anymore - and ***** around if more and more are having the same stuff as they do.

So there is actually a need for some "variety" of items, to have "very expensive monocles" and "not so expensive quafe-t-shirts".

Still, the prices are a bit too high, the variety is too small, items just wont sell in a couple of weeks. So either the Aurum per plex is going up, or, those items will be priced down. You see, if that happens, I wanna hear your comments on this topic again.

While the monocle price seems fine, the clothing prices are just insane. There will be no nice market here. BEcause a market only lives, if there is enough supply and demand. At the moment the demand is higher, but it will sink to ignorance.

Actions speak louder than words.

Player A buys each of his toons a carrier. Player A says, "I have this isk and will invest it in items that actually enhance my and my corp mates' gameplay experience."

MMO A adds new ships, weapons and skills to a game which revolves around the economics of space combat. MMO A says, "We decided to add meaningful improvements to our already great game to continue attracting players who will remain loyal customers for years."

Player B buys each of his toons a monocle <which costs more than a capital ship>. Player B says, "I have this isk and nothing better to do with it than buy completely useless and insanely overpriced vanity items."

MMO B adds completely useless and horribly overpriced vanity store items to the game. MMO B says, "We decided to cater to a tiny minority of foppish idiots."

I'm Player A, looking for MMO A. CCP is trying to be both MMO A and MMO B. CCP has an identity crisis. Fix it.

That's because its players qualify as both A and B.

Also, insanely overpriced vanity items are not insanely overpriced to the insanely wealthy, with which EVE is teeming. Of course there are better uses for that wealth, but for these people, those better uses are just as useless. I'd rather they stimulate the PLEX market to acquire status symbols than to collect ships (which players worked to create) that they'll never use and never sell.

My issue with the Noble exchange is immersion. Ostensibly, the Noble exchange and Incarna in general are an attempt to expand the Eve universe in a compelling way, and to increase the levels of immersion in the game by putting a human face on the capsuleer flying all those fancy spaceships. This is a fantastic idea, and I was looking forward to picking up a fancy coat and some shiny boots for my trader, who spends most of his life hanging out in a station.

But, when a pair of boots cost more than a battleship and a monocle can be traded for two carriers, immersion is broken. I understand and am fine with having a way to sink PLEX, I'm fine with RMTing trivial vanity items, but the price points destroy one of the clearly defined goals in Incarna: immersion.

since anyone with these vanity items must have mounds of isk (made or bought by plex) sitting around, we should now proceed to gank their presumably faction/officer ships.
