MT even vanity items are immersion breaking.
The same can be said of selling modules in the MT store. You are removing the players and their connection to the game. Selling items in the MT store only is very immersion breaking in this regard. A player wasn't involved in the following:
Training the skills to build the item Gathering the material to build the item Building the item Hauling the item to market Selling the item on the market
Absolutely no inclusion for the player.
Removing player inclusion in the process also removes the players ownership and sense of accomplishment in the results. Eve isn't about having an easy button. Eve is about reaping the rewards of your effort.
CCP has removed the Sticky from this thread so that it slowly dies... DON'T LET IT DIE!!!!!
BUMP IT BACK TO LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I dont understand is since when did they say they were going have modules in the MT store? Everyone is acting as if they are, which they are not. I am completely fine with MT as long as its vanity only. Like anyone else, I would be ****ed if they crossed that line but they havent. Maybe this will get more money to improve the game.
Yeah like all the money they made to improve the game that is being used to fund WOD/DUST514. You can hope all you want that more money to CCP means better EVE but the past has shown us that is not the case. If anything the vanity item store with the Aurum GOLD shows us the future will be paying for content. To CCP it is no longer feasible or profitable(enough) just to get the subscription cost PLUS PLEX sales now they need extra income for the content they used your subscription costs to fund. A ship isn't a vanity item, the paint job is, but the latest news is to get your special ship with the paintjob you pay $$ and 'kazam' a ship with a paint job appears out of thin air. No ship is required to 'get' the paint job just real money, you are buying a ship with money this is a MT and it is BS. |

Not that CCP will ever listen to my voice or any other (why would they start now since a solid NO to MT thread has been going on since last year and they're obviously ignoring that) here's my 2 cents.
I don't do MT... never have, never will.
A second currency? Nice, next thing you know we'll have another and another and another.. and then we'll be playing WoW in space. I left WoW years ago and multiple currencies was among the reasons. Just tried Rift, found the same thing, closed the account. You do that here and you'll see how quickly I and lots of others find another MMO.
Vanity items? Fine, pay for them with ISK... not PLEX.
Ships for Aurum? Just no. I recently tried out WoT and found I'm not going to get into that either for that very reason. People start playing and within a week they have tanks that they didn't earn. That happens here, I'm long gone. You start with a painted scorpion and next week we'll have noobs in titans. Don't even go down this path.
CCP... don't let your greed for hard currency exceed what your players are willing to tolerate. I.e. - Stop ****ing with my sandbox!

"Vanity items only" -> "Here's a perfectly functional ship that appeared without any player input."
Interesting interpretation of "vanity item" there CCP. You could, of course, choose to not ship the special Scorpion model until after you have the capability of selling only a X-run BPC (or an IW Scorp for Aurum + regular Scorpion).

I am quietly quitting Eve and closing both my accounts. Its been a pleasure flying with you all. I feel like the concepts that the game originally was designed under have been abandoned by a bunch of filthy greedy money grabbing *****s.
I'm sorry to see it go but i just can't waste my life away on broken promises anymore. Its a shame really. |

giving players the ability to make their char look a bit more unique for RL cash? yes - if they want, it does not have any influence on my game
giving ships/mods to other players, *without* consuming material acquired by players in game? no - not even for 3-4 months (we all know how long 3-4 months can get with development, not only from CCP -> soonTM)
next step would be to give out quafe zero (or whatever that booster drug was, that was given as present items) via MT/aurum, giving players, who pay extra RL cash, an in-game advantage having an alt for scouting is also giving advantages for extra cash, but the alt can be killed, whereas the drug cannot be countered
how about 2 weeks of doubled training speed / instant skill training / instant standing gains / instant re-location of my ship to a system of my choice / doubled damage output of my guns for 24h etc for Aurum? Sounds good, doesn't it?

Also lodging my complaint about spawning a ship out of nowhere. I realize that aurum comes from PLEX and PLEX is bought with ISK earned in-game, but PLEX also comes directly from a RM transaction. Ergo, the ship could potentially be spawned from nothing and paid for with the equivalent of pure cash (assuming the PLEX used was one bought with cash, as opposed to getting bought with ISK from the market. Ergo CCP's statement about this sort of thing being beyond the scope of their microtransaction plans is horse hockey. Up with this we will not put. |

Bumping with disgust for the whole ****ing store. Incarna is great, dust is great, a full price subscription game with MT content is not.
Devs have stated that ultimately they'd like newborn clones to have no clothing or accessories, requiring us to purchase them again from the store. This directly removes content from subscribed users and puts it behind a paywall, someone, somewhere (who must be paying a subscription), must pay real world money to acquire monocles, this is unacceptable in my eyes.
Further to that, having checked out the most recent and most of the preceeding builds of Incarna on duality/singularity, the stuff you're selling in your store, (the emphasis needs to be on SELLING here), is awful. It's uninspirational, out of character, fashion designer JUNK. EVE has lost it's science fiction roots, (starting with the removal of the old intro video), and looks set to never really recover them.

this makes me sad. it shows that ccp once understood what destroys a virtual world but chose to ignore it for the sake of making money. marketing speak and microtransactions will not make eve better. i will not pay a subscription fee for a microtransaction game. accounts canceled. |

This thing is a freaking joke plz.
I have and will still play F2P games with real stores that work. But what I see here is that that Devs were smoking and they were not passing.
Thats puff puff pass not puff puff and keep on puffing.
Let me explain here. I play alot of differnt online games for pay per month like EVE to Cash shop games like well my new one is going to be Hellgate.
But even so let me point something out to you that I have seen.
The F2P games that work have cash shop iteams like Potions or in the case of EVE booster drugs that they sale for steady stream pluse hardware iteams like swords or armor or Vanity iteams for dress up. But you dont lose your clothing or armor when you die.
Here your telling me you have no limited time boosting iteams for steady stream but your expecting to resale me a new paint job every ship or Xnumber. And the same with cloths.
I have one thing to say to that Kiss it. X markes the spot.
Hear is an ideal to make your store work. Put in boosters that are just as good or better then the Null sec ones but are legal in High sec. Then let people freaking keep there cloths and paint jobs you Jack A**es. People are paying you cash ether directly or indirectly for fluff. The first time someone buys a new paint job or par of paints and turns around in 30mins with it gone there mostly likely never to buy again.
Edit: By keeping I mean so long as it's not siting in the cargo hold of there ship at time of explotion. If the paint is on the ship they keep it for the next one and if the cloths are on there backs they come out of the clone vat with that on. I have seen F2P games fall flat on there faces with cash shops like the one your starting up. But then again they did not have Subs to back up there horble cash shop.

The cash shop as they have it now is not going to work for very long. I know your loving it. Fully knowing your going to ether steal or destroy what people spend real cash on ether directly or indirectly but when they see it makes them a full on major target most people will stop buying stuff. The cash store will look like low sec. People will keep cloths in there favorit station and take them off before leaviing. Mybe paint up a ship they spin in only in station. It's just going to be lame. |
