Cool, a bunch of immersion breaking, money grubbing bull**** that has nothing to do with spaceships. Thanks for the hard work, CCP.

Please take a look at the goods available on Duality. We put some PLEX in the redeeming system to use to test the store and experience the goods.

The free clothing and accessories in the character creator are for choosing your character's default appearance. If you get podded, your new clone will awaken with this outfit. We don't intend to keep offering the full free clothing line each time you step into the character creator. Eventually you will see just the one free set and whatever clothing you have acquired.

One kind of thing that did not make it in to this test build is a re-skin of a current, common ship. It is not enhanced in any way except cosmetic.

What exactly are those PLEX price equilibrium forcing tools?

E.g. when you say 'set conversion rate' is that ever going to be adjusted or will it always remain constant? And will it be possible to convert from AUR->PLEX and will AUR be on the market like PLEX?

The Aurum can be converted to plex by selling stuff you bought with Aurum for Isk, and using the Isk to buy Plex.

The Aurum are a new currency and will be stored in your wallet like Isk is.

So the Aurum would be the same currency as will be used in DUST514, e.g. not convertible to PLEX.

However you didn't answer the most significant of my questions; will the conversion rate be static and unchanging, or will it be one of the tools used to keep the PLEX market healthy?

We are treating it as the cloths you are wearing are stored in your pod so you have cloths to wear when exiting your pod at the next station.

No, clothing is destroyed when you get podded, but if you had a stack on monocle's in your cargo hold they will drop like normal.

I thought I was naked in my pod. At least that's what the storylines how, same for artwork and all that. Not to mention that my corpse is space whenever I die is also naked.

Or do you mean that we will be able to kill people inside stations where they actually (well, hopefully) wear clothes?

This is more than a slight "What the hell."

Fiction, roleplay, immersion, and the strength of the intellectual property are diminished when you create these kinds of gaffes.

:EDIT: You would have to reply a fraction of a second before I made this post, wouldn't you, Incognito. Laughing

impossible because you are naked so there will be no way to destroy clothes(ignore the cargo for a moment) in eve because you cant attack ppl in station and that will kill the clothes market Shocked

These items, other than how they are initially purchased, are just like any other item.

But how could anyone be wearing anything in their pod? I mean, think of the dry cleaning bill to get all of that pod goo out of your nice clothing!

Will Aurum eventually be purchasable with RL$ directly?

Also, will players be able to gift Aurum to each other as we can with ISK?

If so, I can see players setting themselves up as brokers for currency exchange, if you don't want to cash out a whole PLEX or want to sell Aurum for ISK without waiting for market orders to clear.

But that does not make any sense whatsoever. In our pods we're floating naked, at best with some skinsuit. But the storylines, and heck our corpse in space if we die, IS naked.

So will the storylines change? Obviously that only applies to clothes, but heck, if immersion breaking is such a giant argument then this goes right in with that.

Sounds like you're planning to remove many of the existing free options at that time, then? What happens if I'm already wearing something you decide to remove?

Not working on dust, so can't comment on that. As to the exchange rate, that is up to the store managers and I don't have any idea what there plans are. So no comment.

I think the idea is that the clothes need to be destroyable for the item store and any possible player market to function.

The alternative is to have them "wear out" over time which imho is even more daft.

I doubt I'll ever use it. Not because I'm cheap, I'll pay for playing eve with IRL money even if I'll have enought on my ISK wallet to buy PLEXes every month, but I just don't like the whole idea about microtransactions. Yes, PLEX market exists a long time already and it's pretty stable. But AUR just looks like an excuse to force people to enter PLEXes in the game and it's just not right. But I guess I'm just that-guy-who-hates-F2P-games.

Plus, I'm really concerned how will it affect PLEX prices.

Thank you for the answers. That makes sense, but you do realize that you're just going to force people to change clothes to "combat clothes" before they undock and then change back to their real clothing after docking and before going in the station to mingle.

Nothing wrong with that and it makes sense, since you don't go to war in your monocle and top hat, but you might want to make clothing changes as easy and quick as possible, and even have savable "fittings" for vanity items. Just think about it. It's just applying some of that team BFF polish and removal of annoying repetition before the feature goes live. Wink

Aurum can be handed to another player just like ISK.

Whichever free clothes you pick will be _your_ default set, Mynxee. We won't take away someone's chosen.

We have no problem with cross dressing, but it takes as much tuning work as making a new clothing item. The male and female bodies are different enough to create clipping issues and such. So we opted for more clothes but no cross dressing. Resource constraints.

Which in the perception of users will thus impact the experience of "Incarna takes more time than non Incarna for niche/behaviour X/Y/Z". Remember, perception defines reality. Not just the reality of experience, but also the story that sells.

So indeed, damn good point made there. But hey, I'm sure CCP have considered this.
