WTF CCP. WHAT IS THIS? Your going the wrong way! You are turning this game for the worst by making this. What is next? SHIPS ONLY FROM AURUM or whatever its called?

Thanks EVE for the good times, and farewell.

Peace out, see my previous post.

I did see your previous post, I fail to see its relevance to me. I am not angry, nor am I throwing a tantrum. I am merely voting with my feet against a proposal which I personally have an issue with. I do not advise others to go or stay, their decisions on this matter must be weighed against their own values.

I'm pleased that you like the idea of Microtransactions, I truly hope that you get the game you desire from this. With this addition EVE has become a game that I don't wish to be a part of anymore.

That makes no sense man, why leave over something that hasn't even been implemented yet and even when implemented won't have any real impact on the game other than the ability for more individuality and perhaps a change in PLEX prices for better or worse? Wait until its in action before making a rash decision.

Also, to the 2 previous posters, this doesn't screw over play to pay in any way. I hate blanket statements that assume the worst in everything. And second, what part of Vanity did you not understand? Ships aren't vanity man, paint jobs are. Hell, if they were going to do ships for MT, even I would have a fit.

First I would like to say this: A lot of people aren't gonna be happy with this change, CCP new this and have known this for a long time. What they are doing (paid vanity content) is something of a compromise between what we want (free content) and what they want (paid content). If they have any respect for their community they will at least Listen to the complaints of those who are strongly against this and try to give them some compromise to us. However you will need to don your flame proof suits for this post and many like it.

more money for eve

We already have plenty of people complaining about how money is sucked out of eve into dust/twilight, there was actually a thread in GD when you posted this blog about that exact thing. Now you expect us to trust you with more money?

Do you have any plan in place to ensure money from this shop goes toward features the shops customers will want?

Right stupid question, CCP don't have plans cause plans aren't cool and agile. We just spew out more and more content for our community to gobble up with no focus on fixing or quality control. I'm wondering what you guys are gonna do in 5-10 years down the line when you decide to do a graphics update, if you actually do focus on producing more content for incarna how are you going to update a massively inflated clothing line?

I mean seriously you don't have much practice with constantly updating and fixing features. Like say T3, FW, epic arcs, cosmos, rigs. Even dominion 0.0 patch was less of an update and more of a complete redesign. Now you expect us to trust you to do something you don't have experience in and pay you EXTRA money for it?

Sounds like alot of pandering to people who like to dress up dolls or something.

Fashion oriented people now have all their in game goods massively inflated by their relationship with plexes, we are the ONLY GROUP OF PLAYERS who have to pay extra $ for their content. CCP has also managed to remove any possibility of us being able to make/design clothes or run any sort of industry out of this.

That's not what I call pandering that's more of screwing us in the ass.

Quote:

So this thing is vanity items only?

Yes. We will start out with a rather limited number of items initially, carefully measuring the demand and how it impacts the economy. As time progresses, we'll gradually introduce new items and revise our strategy. We've also discussed this issue in depth with the Council of Stellar Management and will both consult with them and keep them up to date every step of the way.

This feels like you've decided to hire a bobsled team to deal with the slippery slope of the cash shop.

It makes perfect sense. I have a philosophical objection to Microtransactions. With CCP introducing Microtransactions I can choose to either ignore my principles and stay, or adhere to my principles and leave.

My principles are more important to me than any game, therefore I choose my principles.

My decision was not rash, I have been considering it since MT was first mentioned in connection with EVE. Once I played WoW, I had an objection to their proposed RealID system and cancelled that account. They didn't end up implementing their RealID in the form that was originally mooted, but I don't regret in the slightest leaving it behind, because I have no interest in supporting a company that would even consider treating their customer base in that fashion.

As I said, I'm pleased you and others like this addition. I do not.

I like how ya'll have some false sense of morality that seems to believe a micro-transaction model for vanity items is the work of Satan himself. You could be better spending your time thinking of ways to exploit the planned changes for your own profit.

Creating new content costs time and money. Beer and Ice Cream is not cheap. Wink

So in all honesty I can understand this, I want new content, also new customisation options. Other players want only the spaceship part of EVE which is fine with me, they don't have to buy a vanity item, the default customisation options are great as they are.

OMG!!! COOL...

Suggestions!

1. Avatars need to more like real people sizes - taller/shorter/fatter and more fatter and then way fatter...
2. We need to enable storage units in EVE... and then I want to be a short obese human that hoards virtual goods and eats virtually everything and anything... and I want a virtual PS2 in my CG to spend all my time playing and ignore my ships and the world (of EVE) atlarge!
3. Can we get Halo for EVE? so I can practice for DUSTY 123 and such?

... for the record, horrble idea.

I'm sure it's been said before, but I'll throw another bone out there:

1) Create a batch of clothing and accessories that is free.

2) Give us Outfit, Ship Alteration, Body Modification slots to save combinations, and quickly apply them. If we try to apply them and we don't have it in our cargohold at that station, it gives us an option to purchase them using Aurum.

3) Allow us to purchase in bulk for a discount.

4) Allow us to reverse-engineer all clothing, ship mods, and tattoos, etc for blueprints, or even "skills" that once learned will not be unlearned.

5) We can then open up shops to do custom ship mods, which is still using the Aurum currency

6) We can open up tattoo and hair shops. Using skills learned from reverse-engineering a specific style or tattoo. These "Trades" work differently as they don't require blueprints and once learned only require specific equipment to be purchased.

7) PI materials (cotton, leather, rare metals, etc) can be used in the creation of clothing and vanity items

8) Specific ship mods like corp logos can be purchased by a corporation, and can be applied via corp tools to ships by anyone in that corporation. This way you can have a massive battle with your corp logos on all ships, and get podded and go back, pick up another ship and logo is applied automagically (if you have the option enabled). But the corporation has to purchase this using Aurum. Like a gold site license for software.

Essentially this will promote those of us with some extra RL cash to buy some items we like, and then try to make a business out of it - which then promotes the use of Aurum within the Eve economy, and continues the use of RL cash for special purchases.

Also, make sure Aurum is low. A piece of clothing should be 10 - 200 Aurum, not 50 million. We're not using Yen in Eve Very Happy

TL:DR of the past 17 pages ccp.

Tying Aurum to plex is a bad idea. PERIOD - plex prices are going though the roof now and will most likely never come down. They are starting to break past 400 million, and YOU WILL / ARE losing people who can only afford to play the game with plex. EITHER put a price cap on plex, or lose more people.

- Mictrotransactions are not the best idea in the world, how do we know you will keep your word and keep them limited to vanity items only. Nathan or Hillmar need to flat out stake their reps on this one and publicly say this.

- The economist you hired needs to play the game and get scammed a few times to really understand the economy and what this is going to do. Bitter vets / others can already see what is going to happen to the eve economy.

- clothes need to be indestructable OR at least lootable from a pod in the form of a can.

- several posts about what ccp is smoking

- rage

- whats the point of vanity items if there are no public areas to show them off?

- you havent controlled plex prices and their inflation in isk at all. AT WHAT POINT are you ever going to step in and regulate them.

I think i summarized pages 1-17 well enough.

WHAT? 1 Aurum equates to 90k~120k ISK at current plex-AUR-ISK exchange rates on duality (see this post for details)

1 isk is the in game equivalent of about 1000 of whatever poor mortals use for cash down on the planets.
so 10-200 AUR is 900k~24mill ISK or the equivalent of us paying $900 Million to $24 billion USD, real terms price.... for clothes????
even just in isk your saying clothes should cost the same as a Battle Cruiser?!?

1 AUR is overpriced.

Wait...you mean...*gasp*...you are interested in making a profit?!?!?!? From our game?!?!?

How dare you?!?!? Its your intellectual property you say?!?!?

Hah!!! I beg to differ it belongs to the people!!!!

AND you mean to make this change in such a way that does not impact the actual characters but, only their clothing?!?!? Not sp? Not ships? The nerve!!!!

Seriously....Ignore the proletariat scum,CCP. This is what you get when in RL the unwashed masses are taught to envy success.

They would rather you sit around and eat cat food, like they do, as opposed to you making a decent living.

To my Eve comrades, take the tin foil off of your heads, put down your pitchforks and put away your hate. CCP is entitled to make a profit from their hard work. THey owe you NOTHING but access to THEIR game, but only if you pay.

For all of those in desperate need I am now selling "a clue" the cost is 1 Aurum. Rolling Eyes

So all of these items can be destroyed? Blinged-out-chromed-Epeens can blow up? Fancy letterman's jackets burn up with the pod? IRL cash for temporary items. Good for CCP's pocketbooks and good for me if I want to sell some Plex for extra Isk Razz If they release a stripper pole with strippers for my CQ, I will get that. Heck, forget the pole.

EDIT: I do hope this is not the beginning of the end. There aren't any other Spaceship games out there worth anything Sad

Wow, I like how you only summed up the negative crap and just ignored all the supporters, despite the fact that the negative voices are always louder than positive ones by a factor of 1000. Besides, even with 17 pages of posts, it only makes up about what, 100 people? Out of how many? I hope CCP is not about to be sidelined again by the most vocal 0.1% of players pretending to represent us all. Sorry to say chief, but you can find any subject on these forums, any subject and there are at least 2 people in it about to have an infarction.

Micro-transactions are a real thing and nearly every MMO has them now. Deal with it like an adult and move the **** on, whether that be by accepting it and making the best or voting with your wallet and leaving.

Hell, I encourage everyone here who hates this proposal to retire your subscriptions and go find something else to do with your lives. I imagine we won't lose less than 100 folks total and it will likely be the 100 that make reading this forum a test in logical reasoning. I'll cry for you all later.

Going down this road is a bad idea unless handled very carefully. I for one believe a game needs to be subscription based OR micro transaction based. If this explodes with high demand, focus can shift from free content to premium content. However, this model is acceptable to me for the simple fact it's transferable.

I do think when you pod someone it has a chance drop cloths or whatnot. That would give more of an incentive to pod people (do we need more of an incentive?)

You should have left when they added micro transactions to transfer characters (its a micro transaction you don't need to pay, but people do) or when plex was introduced (which again is a micro transaction believe it or not).

This is a micro transaction for something you may never want. In fact reading the dev blog go these items are able to enter the market and be sold again. Think of giant fashion wear freighters hauling the latest fashions from Jita to 0.0 space...Its something that adds to the game not takes away like Plex

History repeats itself. Always. What is history repeating here? Cash shops, in pay to play games. History shows as soon as cash shops are introduced into a pay to play game, it is only a matter of time until it turns into a pay to win scenario. Today its clothes, tomorrow it's probes that scan cloaky ships. This is a bad move. Make the clothes, and give it to us for free.
